Naomi walked a little too fast and accidentally bumped into someone when she came out of the hospital.
Coincidentally, that person accidentally bumped on the wound on her neck, Naomi subconsciously hissed, âIâm sorry, are you alright?â
That person was stunned for a moment and looked up in surprise.
âMiss George!â
âLoraine?â
Naomi looked at the report in her hand and asked, âAre you not feeling well?â
Loraine shook her head, âIt was just a routine check-up! Did you burn yourself?â
Naomi waved her hand, âItâs nothing. It was an accident!â
After Naomi ended her conversation with Loraine, she let out a sigh and turned to leave.
â¦
The Olsen family would arrange for their servants to undergo a physical examination every year. That year, due to the fact that Loraine had to take care of Culver, her medical examination had been postponed.
When she returned, she handed her physical examination report to Culver.
âEverything is normal.â
Culver did not even look at her as he replied, âThatâs good!â
Loraine sighed again.
âWhatâs the matter?â Culver raised his head. âDidnât you say that everything was normal?â
Loraineâs heart felt slightly warm. Many people said that Culver was a cold-blooded man with a weird temper. However, no one knew that he had a kind heart.
In fact, he cared a lot about the people in his household.
âItâs not about me. Iâm talking about Miss George!â
âWhat happened to her?â
Culver blurted out without hesitation.
âShe was burned! I bumped into her when I went to the hospital to take the report. Later, I asked the nurse and found out that it seemed that she was accidentally burned when she was eating at a barbecue restaurant!â
Culver frowned.
Loraine wanted to say something but then stopped herself.
Logically speaking, she knew that Marilyn disliked Naomi! As a servant, she must listen to Marilynâs arrangements.
However, she had watched Culver grow up!
She knew who he was interested in. It could be seen from the meal a few days ago. However, he had developed the habit of keeping everything to himself since he was a child and would never express himself.
Sometimes, she would feel distressed when she looked at him!
âIf youâre worried about her, why donât you pay her a visit?â
At last, Loraine said, âI wonât tell Mrs. Olsen!â
Culver clenched his fists, âWhy would I want to visit her?â
As soon as Loraine mentioned Marilyn, Culver could not help but think of the day Naomi and Marilyn had worked together to get him to the blind date.
That was the reason why he had been angry the entire time!
âAlright, alright! Donât be angry!â
âI wonât get angry because of her!â
Loraine was rendered speechless.
She thought to herself, âI should have just kept quiet.â
â¦
The next day, as soon as Loraine woke up, she was shocked to see a figure in the living room.
When she saw that it was Culver, she heaved a sigh of relief.
âMr. Culver, why are you here?â
Culver coughed lightly as he replied, âItâs nothing. I canât sleep. So, I got up to read a book!â
Loraine looked at the dark living room. The lights were not even turned on. She asked in confusion, âAre you able to read in the dark?â
Culver kept quiet. Loraine turned around and was about to turn on the lights when she was stopped by Culver. He said, âI want to eat fish stew!â
Loraine was taken aback, âAre you saying that you want to eat fish stew? Iâll get the chef to make it right away!â
âNo need. You can do it!â
âMe? However, if Iâ¦â
âIt doesnât matter! I remember that when I was a child, you cooked it once for your son! It was really good!â
Loraine thought carefully for a while and recalled that moment.
There was one time when her son had gotten burned. Thanks to Marilynâs kindness, Loraineâs son was arranged to live with the Olsen family for a period of time. At that time, in order to help her son recover faster, she had made fish stew for him everyday.
Later, her child had fully recovered and went back to school.
Loraine understood. In reality, Culver wanted to make fish stew for Miss Georgeâs sake!
She decided not to expose him. Then, she went into the kitchen.
âIâll make it now, but itâll take some time. If you have something to do, you can go handle it first. Iâll call you when itâs done!â
âIâm free. Take your time!â
After that, Culver took a book and sat down on the sofa in the living room.
Loraine felt a little bemused in her heart.
She knew that Culver treated Naomi quite well. Sometimes, he treated her extraordinarily well. However, she had never imagined that Culver would be so serious in his feelings for her!
For the whole morning, Loraine was busy cooking in the kitchen.
Culver stayed in the living room. Originally, Loraine had thought that he would have no work to deal with. Later, she found that Aaron had brought the documents to his house for him. Loraine sighed silently in her heart.
âMr. Culver, Iâm done!â
The soup was milky white and it smelled really good.
Culver took a sip, âIt doesnât taste good!â
Exasperated, Loraine said, âYou praised me for it a while ago, though!â
âIt doesnât taste good now. However, itâs a pity to throw it away. Give it to someone who needs it!â
Loraine was rendered speechless.
Why was Culver being so indirect? How was she supposed to know what he was thinking of?
âYou can finish that bowl. Thereâs still a lot more over there. I have a friend who got burnt. I was going to visit her today!â
Culver put down the spoon and took out his key for Loraine.
âThere are some supplements in the basement. You can take them if you need them!â
Loraine was dumbfounded again.
â¦
After Naomi came home that night, the pain on her arm became more and more intense when the effects of the medicine wore off. As a result, she could not sleep because of the pain, and she tossed and turned all night!
It was not until dawn that she felt better and fell asleep.
When it was almost noon, the doorbell rang.
When she got up, she found that there was no one at home as Emma had left. She had left breakfast for her, but it had turned cold!
Naomi yawned as she reached out to open the door.
âWho is it?â
âMiss George, Iâm here to see you!â
âLo-Loraine?â Naomi asked curiously. âWhy are you here?â
She had reckoned that her relationship with Loraine was not as tense as before, but she didnât think that they were close enough for her to pay a visit!
âThank you very much for last time. This fish stew is really effective in healing your burns. So, I cooked some for you!â
âYouâre too kind.â
âItâs no trouble at all. Itâs not easy for a young girl like you to live in an unfamiliar city like Greene City!â
That was true.
Naomi felt a little touched as she said, âThank you! Please come in!â
Loraine wanted to help Culver to learn more about Naomi, therefore she entered.
There were two bedrooms and one living room in the place where Naomi and Emma lived. Although it was quite simple, it was clean!
Loraine went to the kitchen and took out bowls and cutlery for Naomi.
âDrink it quickly!â
Naomi was indeed hungry, therefore she took the bowl of soup and drank it.
âItâs delicious!â
âThen, Iâll make it for you every day!â
âThereâs no need for that. Itâs too troublesome!â
âItâs no trouble at all!â
Loraine thought to herself, âThe young master of my household wonât find it troublesome at all! In fact, he would be extremely happy if he finds out that I were to bring soup for Naomi everyday!â
As they talked, the doorbell rang again. Naomi smiled and said, âIt should be Emma.â
âIâll open it! You can continue to drink!â
Loraine was greeted by a man when she opened the door. There was a lunchbox in his hand.
He asked, âIs Naomi here?â
Naomi was taken aback. âDoesnât that voice belong to Nelson?â she pondered.
