Naomi looked at the drawing beside her feet.
The drawing had a simple design. However, due to the limited use of colors, it was very pleasing to the eye!
With just one glance, Naomi felt that she was attracted to the drawing.
She looked at the girl carefully. She was dressed like a student. She had an oval face, and there were a few small freckles on her cheeks!
She looked at the girlâs table, and found that the side that the girl was sitting at was fairly clean, compared to the opposite side which was filled with leftovers.
It was obvious that what she had said just then was true. She had been asked to meet in the restaurant by someone but that person had made their leave first.
It was her fault for not seeing through the other partyâs intention. She was not the kind of person who would dine and dash.
âHow much is it? Iâll pay on her behalf!â
Naomi proceeded to tell the manager.
Hearing that someone was willing to pay for her, the manager was much gentler when he replied as he was able to receive the payment after all.
âItâs three hundred and eighty dollars! Should I charge it on your tab?â
âYes, go ahead!â
Naomi nodded and watched as the manager left.
The girl quickly picked up the drawings on the floor and examined them carefully. Seeing that they were fine, she heaved a sigh of relief. She walked over and gave Naomi a firm bow.
âThank you! Please leave your phone number and address. Iâll pay you back the money another day!â
Naomi did not mention her address, but pointed to the opposite seat, indicating to her to sit down.
âIâm guessing that youâre an intern, arenât you? Are you out looking for a job?â
She nodded, âYes, I am!â
âIs it hard to find a job?â
Lowering her head, she replied, âYes!â
âI think your work is excellent. Did you show it to the interviewers?â
âYes, I did!â She sighed, âI studied civil engineering in college, but designing has always been a hobby of mine. Since I donât have any relevant experience and education in this field, no company wants to hire me.â
âCome to my company.â
Upon hearing Naomiâs words, the girl was stunned for a moment.
âAre you serious?â
âOf course, I am. Do I look like Iâm joking? Iâm short of a talent like you! However, my company isnât large. I donât know if youâre willing to work with us.â
Emma took out her business card and handed it to the girl.
The girl looked at the card and said, âYes, Iâm willing to!â
She was a newbie. She was lucky enough to be able to do what she liked! How would she dare to be so picky?
âThen, you can come to the company tomorrow to start work. I have an incredibly important task for you!â
After hiring a new designer, Naomi felt much more relaxed on her way back.
Emma was a little worried. âSheâs a beginner. Will she be suitable for the task?â
âEven if she is inexperienced, there will surely be a time she will be able to produce a great design! I will personally check on her work. There shouldnât be any problem!â
As Emma was keeping quiet, Naomi thought that she was still worried.
âItâll be alright!â
Naomi patted Emmaâs shoulder, causing her to be surprised.
Naomi followed her gaze and saw traces of Culver and a woman.
âI heard that Mr. Olsen has recently switched to a new girlfriend.â
Emma observed the changes in Naomiâs expression as she spoke.
Although Naomi had always said that she disliked Culver, as an outsider, Emma felt that the relationship between the two was not as simple as Naomi had said.
It was just that Naomi did not know it herself.
Naomi did not have much of a reaction. She only yawned.
âWhy are you looking at me? Is it because my eye bags are getting worse from the lack of sleep recently? Then. Iâll sleep for a while. Call me when weâre home.â
Emma shrugged her shoulders.
If she really didnât care about him, then why was she avoiding him?
â¦
At the entrance of the bar, Culver and a woman, Evelyn, got into the car one after the other.
âMr. Olsen, where are we going?â
âMy home!â
Evelynâs eyes lit up when she heard that.
Culver had said that he wanted to bring her to his house. She was probably the first person in Greene City to have such an honor, no? If her friends were to find out about it, wouldnât they be envious of her?
The more Evelyn thought about it, the more excited she was. She felt that she was getting closer to her goal of being married into a wealthy family.
Culver repeated his question, âDidnât you say youâre good at cooking?â
Evelyn, who was on cloud nine, nodded without hesitation, âYes I am! Undoubtedly, I will make a good wife.
Since Culver had already asked her such a question, did it mean that he was going to marry her?
Thirty minutes later, the car stopped outside of Culverâs apartment, and Culver got off first.
Evelyn stretched out her hand to open the car door, but withdrew her hand.
All rich and powerful men would open the car door for their wives. She could not get out of the car just yet. She had to give Culver such a chance!
Three minutes had passed since she waited. However, Culver was nowhere to be seen.
Evelyn stretched out her head to see if there was anyone else outside.
She pushed the door open and got out of the car. The driver stood there and looked at her with a dull face. âMiss Evelyn, did you leave anything in the car?â
She shook her head awkwardly, âNo, I didnât!â
âLetâs go in then! Everything in the kitchen is ready!â
Evelyn was stunned as she asked, âWhat? Kitchen?â
âDidnât you say that you can cook? Mr. Culver wants to eat grilled pork ribs tonight. The kitchen is all yours!â
Alright then!
After all, it was quite nice for her to cook for her future husband too!
Her mood was instantly lifted and she hurried into the kitchen. After busying herself and reckoning that she had done a good job, she served the pork ribs to the table.
Culver sat on the sofa as he waited. He was already in his loungewear and was waiting leisurely.
For a moment, she felt like she was in a trance, as if she had really become the missus of the house and Culver was the master of the house.
âMr. Olsen, itâs time to eat.â
Hearing her words, Culver stood up, walked over, and sat down at the table.
When Evelyn saw this, she also sat down opposite Culver.
âTry it and see if it tastes good. If itâs good, Iâllâ¦â
Before her voice died away, Culver interrupted her, âWho allowed you to sit down?â
Evelyn was stunned for a moment, âIâ¦â
âGet the hell out of here!â Culver yelled in a serious manner.
Evelyn was incredibly confused, but when faced with an angry Culver, she did not dare to ask questions. She took all of her belongings and fled through the door.
As soon as the door was closed, the sound of plates being smashed sounded from behind.
âDisgusting! Throw that woman out!â
In just one minute, Evelyn went from heaven to hell.
She was confident in her cooking. Not only had she been in competitions, she had even been invited to cook for some rich families too. Why had things turned out different in Culverâs home?
She was really upset, therefore she asked the kind looking middle-aged woman who was nearby.
âWhy didnât Mr. Culver like my cooking? What if I change my methods?â
The middle-aged woman shook her head, âI think itâs best if you donât ask any questions. Hurry up and leave!â
After Evelyn left, Loraine sighed and slowly walked into the room. The room was already in a mess. Culver sat alone surrounded by the broken tableware. He had his head lowered, and he looked like an abandoned animal.
Loraine sighed, âMr. Culver, itâs not that you actually want something to eat, right? Youâre just looking for that feeling again, arenât you?â
Hearing that, Culver looked up at Loraine.
âDid she tell you anything? What right does she have to do that?â
Loraine shook her head as she replied, âNo! I havenât seen Miss George since she left!â
Culverâs eyes dimmed as he replied, âI wasnât referring to her?â
