Naomi was stunned for a moment before she spoke with a smile.
âEven if it wasnât you, Iâd still save a stranger I saw by the roadside if something happened to them!â
Loraine was amused by her words.
âDonât think that I donât know about your intentions.â
Naomi felt embarrassed, âDidnât you already know from the beginning? I didnât do anything bad, therefore thereâs nothing to hide!â
Loraine was surprised by her frankness, âWell, I didnât expect you to be so candid.â
After that, she held Naomi up and said, âThatâs exactly why youâre silly.â
Naomi didnât understand, âWhy is that?â
âArenât you silly? You just helped me and got yourself injured. If you directly said it was for me, maybe I would tell you about Mr. Olsenâs childhood as a way to express my gratitude.â
Naomi was baffled.
âYouâre not that easy to be fooled, are you?â
Loraine burst into laughter, âYou never know until you try. Anyways, let me take you to the hospital.â
âNo need. Itâs just a minor wound. Iâll go home and apply some ointment on it, then itâll be fine.â
âNo way! Iâll be guilty if I donât bring you to the hospital. Moreover, Mr. Olsen will definitely reprimand me if he finds out. Youâd better not put me in an awkward position.â
In the end, Naomi had to comply with her request and went to the hospital with her.
The wound was indeed not too serious. There was only a gash at the back of Naomiâs leg. The doctor sterilized and bandaged her wound. Then, he prescribed some medicine before they returned to the house.
Loraine called the chauffeur to pick them up, hence they didnât have to walk back.
On their way home, Loraine chatted with Naomi about the Olsen family.
âI started working for the Olsen family slightly before Madam Marilyn married Mr. Norman. Iâve watched Young Master Culver grow up. He was really obedient when he was a child.â
Naomi realized that Loraine was willing to talk despite her initial wariness of Naomi. Listening to her words quietly, she didnât dare to interrupt her.
However, she couldnât hold back any longer when she heard about Culverâs disposition.
âWas he really obedient?â
She thought to herself, âHe is obviously a pervert now. How was he obedient back then?â
âOf course! He was like a living doll! He was good-tempered and he was always all smiles.â
âWhat?! Are we talking about the same person?â
Naomi couldnât believe her.
âIâm telling the truth. It was not until later that he became composed due to all the pressure. Undeniably, everyone will change sooner or later.â
âThen, he really has changed a lot.â
Naomi muttered in a low voice.
Exasperated, Loraine continued to ask, âWhat else do you want to know?â
Naomi thought for a moment before she answered, âTruth be told, itâs not that Iâm eager to know about him, but Iâm just a bit curious. Iâve heard that Madam Marilyn has been arranging blind dates for Culver lately. Is that true?â
Loraine looked at Naomi inquisitively.
âAre you worried about your relationship with Mr. Olsen?â
Naomi was at a loss for words.
Truth be told, she was wondering when her freedom would come.
With that being said, she couldnât tell Loraine about her true feelings. Thus, she pretended to be upset by the news of Culver dating other girls.
âLoraine, Iâm concerned about-â
Loraine said teasingly, âYeah, I know. The development of your relationship with him all this while canât escape my attention. He truly dotes on you a lot and depends on you too, so you donât have to worry. I know him well and he wonât let anyone who is good to him down.â
Naomi was rendered speechless.
She didnât want Culver to dote on her at all.
âIâm just a little worried.â
Loraine laughed before saying, âThereâs no need for you to worry. He has been refusing to meet those girls. I donât even know what I should do to bring it up to him.â
Naomiâs eyes lit up at once, âIf so, Iâll lend you a hand.â
Loraine looked concernedly at her, saying, âMiss George, are you all right?â
She thought Naomi had gone crazy out of utter hopelessness.
Naomi tried to explain herself, âIâm okay. Itâs just that I hope he can maintain a close relationship with his mother. Therefore, I think heâd better listen to her in this matter.â
Loraine couldnât help but nod her head immediately as she agreed with Naomi.
âYes, maintaining close relationships is crucial to a strong family bond. Miss George, thatâs very thoughtful of you!â
As a result, Loraine told Naomi the dates, the venues for the blind dates and the identity of the girls Culver was supposed to meet.
Naomi came back with a lot of new information. After heading back, she took out the materials given by Emma right away, and then analyzed them.
There was a girl from a noble family in Greene City that was of similar status with the Olsen family. It would be a win-win situation for both of her family and the Olsen family if a marriage of state was established between them.
In particular, the girl was said to have graduated from a famous university. Rumor had it that she was mature and good at cooking.
She seemed to be a perfect match for Culver.
Naomi resolved to fix her and Culver up.
She put the information back on the desk confidently.
Someone knocked on the door of her room. Naomi hurriedly kept the information and asked, âWhoâs there?â
âNaomi, itâs me!â
Culver was at her door.
Naomi happened to have something to tell him, hence she ran over to open the door in an instant.
âOh, youâre back!â
Culver immediately looked at her leg.
âAre you injured? Is it serious? Iâll ask my personal doctor to come over right now!â
Naomi hastily waved her hand and said, âNo, please donât do that! Itâs just a minor injury and it has almost healed.â
Culver furrowed his brows as he said, âIâve heard about the two robbers from Loraine. I wonât let them get away!â
Naomi waved her hand again, âThereâs no need for that. The police have taken them away.â
Culver spoke no more. Feeling sorry for Naomi, he kept staring at her leg, his heart aching for her. Consequently, his insistent gaze made her blush.
She quickly changed the subject, âAre you free tomorrow?â
Culver quirked his eyebrow and asked, âDo you have something that needs my help?â
âMaybe I do. Just tell me, are you free tomorrow?â
âHmm, I guess so!â
âThatâs great. I want to go somewhere for a meal tomorrow. Will you accompany me?â
Upon hearing her invitation, Culver was bemused and thrilled at the same time.
He wondered if it would be a date between them.
Even though the two of them had different thoughts about the situation, they were both elated.
Culver nodded as he agreed, âSure!â
âThen, itâs a deal. Donât forget about it tomorrow!â
After saying that, she made an excuse to end the conversation with Culver and got back into her bed.
Culver was not aware of her scheming little mind. After he went out, he called Aaron instantaneously.
âCancel all of my appointments for tomorrow.â
Aaron was astonished. âMr. Olsen, whatâs wrong? There will be an important project tomorrow, and weâve been preparing for it for quite a long time. If we cancel it, Iâm afraid that-â
âTell the person-in-charge that Iâll personally apologize to him on the day after tomorrow. Weâll talk face to face.â
Only then did Aaron nod and reply, âOkay, Iâll arrange for it now.â
Culver added, âWait! Loraine ran into two robbers today. Theyâve already been taken away by the police. Send someone to investigate them and see if they have any previous convictions for a similar offense. Find out more about it and make sure they get what they deserve!â
Aaron asked, âSir, have they offended you?â
Culver was not someone who liked to poke his nose into other peopleâs business in the past. Normally, he would not interfere as long as it wouldnât affect the interests of the Olsen family. Businessmen valued profit and being in a neutral position was the most profitable.
Nonetheless, he was starting to meddle in other peopleâs affairs at the moment. That really came as a surprise to Aaron.
