Culver pulled the corners of his mouth into a smile and agreed.
She was already a violent woman from the beginning. Did he really think that she would change her personality?
He thought of her arguing with the few women just then. It seemed that it had not been as effective as her fighting them directly!
Naomiâs voice rang in his ear, âYou called me out to deal with those women, right? Now that Iâm done dealing with them, can I leave now?â
âOf course not!â
Culver frowned and said, âWe have yet gotten to the matter I called you here for!â
âWhat is it?â
âAccompany me to see my mother!â
Naomi was surprised.
âNo way! Mr. Olsen, even a donkey needs time to rest. Iâve just finished this battle, and you want me to go into another one?â
Culver gave her a sidelong glance and said, âBe good, youâre not a donkey!â
Naomi was speechless.
She almost spat out a mouthful of blood.
âI donât care. Anyway, this is too much work, so you can give me the right compensation. For example, the time limit that you deducted before can be extended.â
Culver was displeased as he said, âBosses donât like calculative employees like you.â
âI donât need my bosses to like me. Just give me some time!â
Culver pursed her lips and said, âThen, that all depends on your performance!â
â¦
At the Olsen family.
Unlike the super-rich people who liked to live in the mountains, the Olsen familyâs mansion was located in the prosperous city center of Greene City.
There were many roads in front and the Olsen familyâs mansion was by the end of the road, therefore it was quite convenient for them to go wherever they wanted.
Naomi stood in the open space in front of her, with a puzzled look on her face.
âYour family doesnât have a yard?â
She was not that ignorant. She had been to many rich and powerful familiesâ houses. However, she had not seen such a vast exposed courtyard before.
Hearing that, Culver slowly walked over and stood beside her.
âDo you see that?â
Naomi followed the direction that he had pointed, and saw a beautiful rainbow.
âIf it rains in the morning, we can see a rainbow from this place. My mother likes it a lot, therefore there is no courtyard in our house.â
Naomi raised her brows and said, âArenât you worried that people will come in?â
Culver only curled up the corners of his mouth and did not answer.
Later, Naomi felt that she had thought too much into it. Since they dared to do that, they must have prepared the best safety measures!
The mansion of the Olsen family was a relatively traditional small western-style house.
Naomi knew a little about architecture. After all, she had been influenced by Eudora since she was young, therefore she naturally had some knowledge.
When she saw the house for the first time, she was fascinated.
âThis seems to be the work of a French architect?â
Culver was stunned as he said, âI did not expect you to be so knowledgeable.â
Not daring to all take credit, Naomi quickly explained, âI just heard it from my mother before.â
âThen, your mother must be a person with a lot of experience. This is indeed the work of a French architect. It was my great grandfather who hired him to design it!â
âItâs quite beautiful,â Naomi said. This was probably the first time she had praised a building like this as it really was a sight to behold.
The mansion adopted a retro style that was popular in that era combined with modern styled carved beams and painted pillars, a perfect mix.
âMr. Culver, Mrs. Olsen asks you to enter!â
The housekeeper appeared and interrupted their conversation.
Culver then walked towards the house and said, âLetâs go!â
â¦
In the room, Marilyn leaned against the sofa with a trace of exhaustion on her face.
Seeing Culver entering, Norman was the first to take action. A cup was thrown toward Culver. Culver managed to dodge it.
The cup fell to the ground with a crash and broke into pieces.
âYouâre still aware that this is your house? You know that your mother is in poor health, so you shouldâve come back early in the morning to visit her!â
Naomi could not help but sigh in her heart. She finally understood why Culver disliked violence.
While she was deep in thought, Culver walked over to his mother, Marilyn.
âMom, how do you feel?â
Although Marilyn did not move, anger was obvious in her voice.
âYou brat, you want to abandon your mother too? Whatâs wrong with Judy? Why canât you think this through?â
Culver frowned and said, âMaybe the two of you think that Judy is good, but I donât like her. Donât tell me that I canât make my own choice when it comes to picking who I will spend the rest of my life with?â
âYes, you can, but what kind of girl did you choose? What can she help you with?â Marilyn asked angrily.
âWhy do I need any help? I can do everything myself.â
Once again, Norman threw another cup at Culver. This time, Culver was not able to dodge, and the cup fell on his arm.
There was still hot water in the cup. Naomi was so scared that her heart skipped a beat. However, Culver acted as if he felt nothing at all. He just stood there, motionless.
What was even more amazing was that the other members of the Olsen family, whether it was Norman, Marilyn or the servants, did not react at all.
âYou are still too young! The Olsen Family is doing well now, but you have to look at the bigger picture. The Hayes Family and the Jules family are only a little weaker than us. If you donât marry the daughter of the Hayes Family, do you think the sly fox of the Jules family will let you go? When the two families join hands, will the Olsen Family still have a place here, in Greene City?â Norman stood up and yelled.
Naomi sighed in her heart.
The scene in front of her was probably the reason why she disliked the business industry.
The business industry was like a bottomless pit. Once one walked in, they would always struggle for fame and fortune, never stopping.
Once one stopped fighting, they would be filled with guilt. They would be afraid of being surpassed or abandoned.
Culver took a step back.
He said flatly, âSo what? Why do we have to be number one?â
âYou unfilial son! The Olsen family has worked hard for so many generations. How can you ruin us just like that?â said Norman as he reached out to take another object. The cups on the table had all been smashed, so he grabbed the teapot.
If the teapot hit Culver, the consequences would be disastrous.
At that critical moment, Naomi instinctively stepped forward and kicked the pot away.
The pot flew out of the door with a bang and hit the marble floor outside.
Everyone in the room was stunned. They all looked at Naomi, including Culver, as if they were looking at an alien.
Naomi herself did not feel that she had done anything wrong. She turned her head to Norman and tried to persuade him.
She turned her head to Norman and tried to persuade him, âUncle, if you have something to say, just say it. Itâs dangerous to smash things like this!â
Completely shocked, Norman said furiously, âWho do you think you are? How dare you speak in our house? Do I need you to tell me what I should do?â
Naomi was also a little angry, but she still said patiently, âIt was only a suggestion. I wasnât trying to tell you what to do.â
âWe, the Olsen family, donât need any suggestions from others! The elderâs words are always right! You are just a youngster. Do you have any manners?â
Manners again!
Naomi laughed inwardly.
Greene City was such a filthy, uncultured place, but everyone here talked about manners with her.
Naomi pursed her lips.
She said firmly, âManners? As the name suggests, manners is a form of culture. It could be a rule, or a courtesy! Itâs etiquette for a child to respect their elders and care about their juniors. Isnât it the same for an adult? Uncle, do you practice this theory of manners yourself?â
