"Enough" a poem by rebirivers

Am I black?

Let me take that back

Am I black enough for you

You who stereotype

And know few

And far between

About the pipe

That us black people play

Yes

I am black enough

No

Not for you

But for me

I can't dance

I can't "wag one"

I can't rap

And I most certainly don't go 'round

Stabbing my niggas

Like others do

I read

I write

I cry

I study

I pray

I preach

There's no such thing as "black enough"

Why should we have to live up to the standards

Of someone who wouldn't even know the first thing

About what a proper soup is?
