Olive Steele caressed Norton Geveâs back until his face softened, âI donât care what Ellison Geve and Alan Hoyle are about to do with Angel. Iâm not interested, but thank you, Norton, for being my patron so that I can stay in Angel to watch the place for him. If one day you decide to straighten up, I will always welcome you here to take over my position.â
Ellison Geve didnât expect that she would say this. He paused and snorted coldly, âYou donât have to be so kind.â
Olive Steele shrugged her shoulders, âI canât help it.â
Norton Geve looked at his son sadly, âYouâre hopeless.â
The farce started by Ellison Geve was sorted out by Norton Geve. However, Olive Steele still got a headache thinking how the media would roast them tomorrow. She didnât know how to cope living in the eye of the storm every day.
Sometimes, people simply didnât have any choice. From the moment she decided to stand side by side with Alan Hoyle, she knew that her life wouldnât be peaceful.
After the reporters left, the staffs were called to the general managerâs office by Norton Geve. The vivid atmosphere in the office during weekdays were now stagnant.
The secretary poured the tea carefully and retreated outside. Back in his seat, he clapped his chest and heaved a sigh of relief.
âHow is it?â another secretary asked in a very low voice.
âDonât ask. Canât you feel the pressure? I think storm is coming.â
Lawyer Wang took a document from his briefcase and handed it to Ellison Gene, âSir, this is a notarized will of Mr. Geve. Please have a look.â
Ellison Geve couldnât wait to open it. He read it very carefully for fear of missing something. The more he read it the stiffer his face became. With trembling hands, he asked incredulously, âDad, what do you mean by having a biological daughter?â
âBack then, your grandmother was eager to have a grandson. She was dissatisfied with your mother.
Your aunt drove your mother away and ruined your uncleâs happiness. In order to end the dark days and to protect your mother, once the child was born, the child was given to somebody else and then, we adopted you from the orphanage. Therefore, Ellison, youâre never our biological son.â
âI donât believe it.â Ellison Geve shook his head. He never experienced ridiculous thing like this. It must be Alan Hoyle and Olive Steeleâs doing so that he would be strike out of the heirs list.
âOriginally, your mother doesnât even know about this. I want her to bring this to her coffin, but Ellison, you disappoint us too muchâ¦â Norton Geve sighed. He made it clear that he had no hope toward his son, âEllison, why donât you ask yourself? I have treated you as my own for years. Do you even grow up? I left Hengdu for you. I handed over the company step by step, but look, what have you done? How am I supposed to hand over Angel to you now?â
Ellison Geve was depressed. Everyone thought that he was touched, but then he looked up and asked, âDo I need to be your biological son to have the right of inheritance? Dad, you know in my life, I may not be able to have my own son.â
Olive Steele stood still and glanced at him slightly. What happened? Was he infertile?
âYou use drugs, have free sex, and now you have AIDS. Youâre doing it to yourself.â Norton Geveâs face turned pale.
Olive Steele was frightened by the remark. She looked at Ellison Geveâs face which was fierce, now turned embarrassed.
Everyone was shocked except Alan Hoyle. He didnât reach much.
Olive Steele didnât know that this man suffered from AIDS. He tried to molest her once. When she met him in the hospital, she thought that he might suffer frm HIV. She didnât expect that she was right.
Perhaps, it was his karma for doing so many bad things.
Norton Geve was ashamed to talk about his sonâs illness, but today, he didnât care about his own reputation anymore. If it werenât for protecting his sonâs reputation, he would have been exposed by the reporters. They might use a recording to cancel him. If Alan Hoyle hadnât taken the moles out, his life might be over already.
âDo you know why your father ask you to stay abroad?â Lory Ted approached Ellison Geve, âYour father never wanted to give up on you. He forced you to stay abroad because he felt that their technology was much better than what we had here. There is a sperm washing technique abroad. It allows people like you to continue having an offspring through IVF. But, look at you, youâre badly ill. No woman dares to get close to you, let alone conceived your child.â
