Chapter 53: 3 days

Life experiencesWords: 932

2 years since accused

Left us spiraling

Feeling betrayed and confused

Opinions like twigs- kindling

Prodding sticks, blowing flame

Waiting at the campfire

Praying for it to be tame

Children dance as shadows conspire

Fleeting safety- darkness pulls you

Hiding within the trees

Believing not what is true

Claiming innocence- hearing your pleas

Like a ghost story- I can almost hear you breath

Shallow, ragged- hot air stuck

Lungs failing as you wheeze

Away you attempt to tuck

Knowing not, you have already been seen

Spotted at once

Eyes open, fingers pointing

Taken aback- you turn with grunts

Dubiously, you begin running

Don't you know, you won't get far?

Reaching out, you grab for me

Help! You yell, as my mouth is left ajar

Reaching for salvation

I take your hand- pulling you along

Put out this fire, I say with dictation

Now ferocious, destroying with no regard

Chasing, you refuse to stop

The time has come to sound the alarm
