Chapter 8: On My Own Jasmineâs POV After a few days had passed, Diego made sure that I was totally fine before we left and went abroad. News also spread that I was dead after I was hit by the car.
Diego also talked to his friends about my plan, and he said that no one would know what exactly made me happy. After that day, the doctor discharged me, and Diego let me stay in one of his condominiums.
There he helped me to recover, he also buys me everything I want. About Travis and Stacy? I decided not to think of them anymore.
I wanted to focus on my baby now. All I want is to leave this place as soon as our papers are approved.
I stood up to grab a glass of water. Iâm already four weeks pregnant. Diego is not around because heâs busy with his business.
Diego never asks for an exchange for taking of me and my baby. Iâm also thinking that if I hadnât met Diane, no one would have ever helped me.
I drank the water and suddenly craved mango. Iâm happy that thereâs a basket of mangoes at the table. My mouth watered while I was starting to peel the mango when suddenly someone knocked on the door.
I went to open it, and I saw Diego. âI thought you had an important meeting today with a client?â I asked him, but his gaze went to my hand, which was holding a mango and a knife.
He gets them from my hand and offers a flower.
I accepted it, though I was a little bit uncomfortable.
âI told you that if you need something, just call me. You shouldnât be holding a knife, what if you cut your hand?â He started lecturing me. I let out a sigh. Since the day I was in his condominium, he kept on ranting that I shouldnât work or touch something that would hurt me.
Heâs overreacting, but I know heâs just thinking about my safety.
âCommon, I can do that. Besides, Iâm being careful.â I followed him through the kitchen, and he started peeling and cutting the mangos for me.
âJust sit there and wait for me to finish it,â he said, and I had no choice but to do what he said.
âYou havenât answered my question. You said you have an important matter to do. So, why are you here?â I asked him, and he placed a bowl of mango In Front of me.
âOur papers are complete. Tomorrow will be our flight,â he answered.
Iâve been waiting for this day, and thatâs the only thing that could make me happy. I wanted to start a new life, and finally, I can do it now.
âYou donât know how happy I am,â I said, and he turned around and looked at me, smiling broadly.
âYouâre not going alone, Jasmine; Iâm coming too,â he said, which made my forehead knot. But heâs busy doing something here?
âWhat about your business? I donât want you to leave your business just because of me,â I said. He chuckled.
âUsually, I have my secretary to handle it. Besides, you need someone who will help you. âHis words caught me. Heâs helping, and Iâm happy, but he also has work waiting for him.
âDiego, youâre helping too much. And Iâm happy with the effort you exert to make sure that Iâm okay, but your job is more important than me and my baby. You canât just oblique us for years. I also have to stand up on my own.â I explained to him. He did not seem happy because of what he heard.
âAre you saying that you are a burden to me?â He furrowed his eyebrows.
âAm I not?â Heâs doing too much for me, I feel ashamed that even though Iâm craving and going to my private ob-gyn heâs the one with me and paying all my bills.
âOf course not! Donât ever think of that, Jasmine. Okay, letâs make a deal, âhe said while thinking about something.
âWhat deal?â I curiously asked, he already knows that the child I am carrying was Travis Son, and yes it was a boy. But he doesnât know about the accident. He didnât want to talk about it because he knew that I would feel uncomfortable.
âYou will be my business partner for now; I know you are good at planning strategies,â he said, and I thought he was joking, but he didnât laugh.
Before I could react, he decided it himself.
âSo silence means yes,â he stood up and went to the living room.
Sometimes, I canât read Diegoâs mind. Yes, heâs caring, yet heâs still moody.
When he went back, he was holding the food that he had ordered. Iâm also cooking, but I seldom do it because Diego doesnât want me to work hard.
Thatâs why Iâm surprised that he offered me something that I could decline.
Winning Her Heart Again (Jasmine)
ï¤Chapter 7: Hospital âI know youâre hungry, âhe said and placed the food he ordered. I smiled. Diane told me that his brother doesnât want to associate with people he doesnât know and doesnât like, but here he is now, helping me. I also noticed that he sometimes had a bad temper when it came to work.
âThanks, Diego, âI remember when I was in the hospital. Heâs too worried about me and the baby. Even Dr. Marco was surprised because of the way he was acting. I know he pities me that he canât even think of the way he is acting that day.
âYou donât have to thank me. Youâre my only sisterâs friend, and she adores you so much. âHe said in a serious voice. I couldnât think of a word to say.
I just missed her.
âMy sister wonât be happy seeing you like that,â he said while placing food on my plate.
âYou know what? Die is lucky to have a brother like you. Though, sometimes itâs hard to talk to you because youâre moody. âI laughed when he furrowed his eyebrows at me.
See? Heâs really something. I shook my head while trying not to laugh so loud.
