Chapter 684: Chapter 695 Success at Last

On Chen Hao’s end, there was a bright beam of light too. This change surprised even Chen Pingan, because even though he knew that Chen Hao’s jade was incredibly powerful, he had no idea what kind of terrifying power it contained to be able to achieve such a feat, not to mention that it was ridiculously compatible with Chen Hao’s energy.

Under Chen Hao’s guidance using his Heaven Abstruse Skills, the jade’s light shot high into the air like a great pillar, connecting heaven and earth as the wind howled around them and sent dust flying everywhere.

“What immense power!” Li Ba exclaimed, completely overwhelmed by what he was seeing. Before long, the white light started shrinking and eventually returned to the courtyard.

At this moment, Chen Hao was completely exhausted with his forehead covered in cold sweat. When he stood up to look at the calm Su Ruoxi, he shook his head. “Li Ba, I’ve already done my best to communicate using the jade and my Heaven Abstruse Skills, but it seems like nothing’s working?” he said, staring at the crowd in resignation.

If it had gone well, Su Ruoxi should be responding by now. But when Chen Hao looked up at everyone, he realized their gazes were directed behind him in shock, including the usually composed Uncle, who had put on a strange look in his widened eyes.

“What is it?” Chen Hao asked.

“Young Master Chen, it worked! It worked! She’s right behind you! She’s really the Goddess!” Li Ba said, shaken.

Instinctively, Chen Hao turned around and his eyes widened at the sight before him—a lady in white was levitating in front of him, with an aloof but no less heart-stopping, beautiful face.

She may look almost identical to Yun Qing when she was in the coffin but for some reason, the real lady in white looked so ethereal.

Meanwhile, Chen Hao’s head-turning made the lady in white give him a rare smile, one that felt like a life-giving spring breeze; it was a smile that she would only show in front of Chen Hao, or God himself.

“After several dozen millennia, I never thought we’d finally meet again like this!” She smiled, then floated to him and caressed his face.

Chen Hao gulped. “White lady, I-I’m not your husband, I’m Chen Hao. I’m only 25!”

“You’ll understand when you remember your past!” the lady in white said. “I’m Ziyan, but I know you don’t remember my name anymore,” she continued softly.

“Mm hmm.” Chen Hao instinctively nodded.

Meanwhile, Chen Pingan stared at Luo Ziyan with both reverence and admiration from meeting her in the flesh; he couldn’t understand how Chen Hao won the favor of this goddess, since she and the Celestial War God were a legendary couple and they were incredibly high-ranking beings in the Border Realm.

Fang Jiannan felt an inexplicable grief in her heart when she saw the lady, because she was so very beautiful that even she felt jealous.

“Ziyan, you’re still technically a frail apparition, but I’ve found you a suitable vessel to temporarily possess!” said Chen Hao as he recomposed himself.

“Alright, but I only need her for one night to recuperate. After that, I’ll be staying in the Dragon Blood Jade!” Luo Ziyan smiled.

“The jade?” Chen Hao took out his jade.

“Mm hmm. Since you made such an effort to find me, I think someone must have told you something to let you reunite my body with the Celestial War God’s body? Actually, the Dragon Blood Jade is a natural vessel that allows me to meditate inside!” Luo Ziyan explained.

“Then do you know who the mystery man is, Ziyan?”

Luo Ziyan replied, “I can guess, but I can’t say for certain. I’ll work out the specifics when I find the Celestial War God, and help you all complete the merging process. By then, it’ll be easy to use the Dragon Blood Jade in restoring one of your peaks!”

“Restoring one of my peaks?” Chen Hao was a little confused but he got the gist of it. Did she want him to regain the Celestial War God’s former self? Was he really that God’s reincarnation?

Chen Hao got more and more nervous. He still couldn’t accept it even after coming this far—would he still be himself if he’d actually regained everything?

“Of course, you two have been apart for way too long, so much so that the only thing I can do is to restore his life essence to the original body. I think you’ve recovered a tiny bit of his memories, but full restoration is impossible!”

“So, even if his essence was returned to my body, I’d still be me?” Chen Hao breathed a sigh of relief.

“You can say that. Why? Do you like the current you and don’t want to become the Celestial like you used to be?” Luo Ziyan asked curiously.

“Yes, I quite like who I am now. After going through so much, I actually prefer being a poor student in the past, and I’d rather be a commoner than a War God!” Chen Hao smiled bitterly, voicing out his true thoughts.

“But for some things, resistance is futile! And if you can’t change it, you must face it since it’s happened!” Ziyan said.

“I know I’ve passed the point of no return. The only thing I can do is to do my best!”

Ziyan smiled with relief, then twisted her body as a white light enveloped her and flooded into the top of Su Ruoxi’s head. After a while, she opened her eyes, but in contrast to the usual Su Ruoxi, the look in her eyes was completely different. That was how Chen Hao knew that Luo Ziyan’s possession was successful.

“Shall I call you Chen Hao before you regain your past self?” Luo Ziyan spoke, then looked to the others. Uncle and Li Ba were wearing expressions of reverence, but the few pretty girls there were completely shocked.

Luo Ziyan smiled. “I couldn’t have returned without everyone’s help, so we’re all friends from now on. I, Luo Ziyan, humbly thank you all.”

“You’re welcome, Goddess. This is our duty, and to serve you and the War God is my greatest honor!”

Li Ba smiled bashfully.

“But this is not a safe place for us to stay. The King of Nine Doors already knows Chen Hao had rescued me, and judging by his smarts, he would quickly figure out what’s going on and track us down here, so we can’t stay long!” Luo Ziyan said.

“I’ve thought about this too, so I got Li Ba and Mu Mu to relocate the entire village this morning, and let them stay in new neighborhoods because I was worried someone might follow us here!” Chen Hao said.

“Mm hmm, so we must leave now!” Luo Ziyan said. Then, she added as if she’d just remembered something, “Oh, Chen Hao! I have something else to tell you!”
