I was walking down the hallway
And heard the rumors fly
About a promise of a new life
And a chance to start anew.
So, I ran towards this place
That the rumors talked about
And found a very long queue
That had formed for the very same.
So, I joined this line,
Determined to see it through.
An hour passed by but
The line didn't move.
I told myself, "Patience.
Change takes time."
And let the clock tick by.
Another hour passed,
But the line just didn't move.
"Is this a joke to them?!" I screamed,
My blood boiling in rage.
"Calm down," I told myself,
"Just wait a few more minutes.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity
And I'm sure you can see it through."
The agonizing hour passed by,
Waiting for the line to move,
But it just never did,
Making me loose hope.
Now, I decided that maybe
This is enough.
Let me just walk out,
Screaming "I give up!"
So, I stepped out of the line
And tried to walk away,
But the people beside me yelled,
"what do you think you're doing?!"
"Don't give up yet," they said.
"It's a chance to live anew."
But I turned my head away
For one more word from them
Could actually change my mind.
I walked swiftly towards the door
Trying my best to ignore
The line that was still there
Waiting to change their lives.
The minute I walked out,
Bright lights blinded me.
The time had sure passed by,
But was it hours or days?
And then I saw itâ people
With warm Bright smiles,
Holding a banner that said,
"Congratulations on making it out!
Your new life begins here."
