Evan and Drew went to a hotel for the night; Evan refused to go to a home he had been forbidden to ever step foot in.
He had called the douchebag he called father and let him know he was in town and that he will see him at the funeral in the morning. He wasnât disappointed when he didnât even reply back.
He and Drew didnât speak at all, Evan needed silence and Drew understood.
Evan thought about his mother, did she suffer when she died?
Did she even realize she was by herself? Evan couldnât help but blamed himself, in a way it was part his fault, he knew how his mom was suffering, and even though he didnât know why, he shouldâve at least made an effort to help her, get her some help, talked her into going to a rehab center. But instead he turns his back on her when his dad kicked him out, telling him he wasnât welcome in their house. His mom was too drunk to realize her only son was being shunned for being gay. He always had assumed his mother had shared the views as her husband.
ââEvan, are you ok?ââ Drew finally questions in a whisper, he had stayed quiet long enough, but he couldnât ignored the broken sobs coming from his best friend, it broke his heart at seeing Evan that way, his best friend was in pain and Drew couldnât do anything to take it away.
ââYeah, Iâm good.ââ Evan responds as he realizes he was crying, he didnât even know until his face felt wet.
ââItâs part my fault Drew, oh god I shouldâve been there for her, I shouldâve done something to help her.ââ Evanâs voice was so broken and Drew got off his bed and went into Evanâs, he wraps his best friend in a hug and whisper words of encouragement, it wasnât Evanâs fault and Drew needed his best friend to know that.
ââIt wasnât your fault Evan, if weâre pointing blame, then we should point fingers at your dad, for kicking you out, for not helping her when she needed it the most, but donât you dare blame yourself, do you hear me?ââ Evan sobbed more as he buries his face in to Drewâs chest.
ââThank you for being here with me, Drew you are the best friend anyone could ever wished to have.ââ Evan finally manages to say without breaking into sobs.
ââDonât mention it, I just wish I could do more for you.ââ Drew felt helpless.
ââYouâre doing it right now, I donât want to be alone, so itâs a big help you being here.ââ Evan chided sadly.
ââGood, now try and get some sleep, tomorrow will surely drained your energy.ââ Drew said as he pulled the covers over them both, he wasnât going to let go of Evan, Evan was the brother he never had, and when Drew needed him the most, he was there consoling him, so Drew owed him the same care.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Evan woke up in the morning, he sighs as he knows what he has to do today.
He was going to go see his mother being buried, he put aside whatever was going on between him and Andrew, he was sure he was going to feel the loss later, but right now, he needed to concentrate on getting through the day, he would worry about the issue with Andrew.
Drew kept eyeing Evan, they were quietly riding in a cab, he was worried at how vulnerable Evan was at the moment, and meeting his father again since the last time they talked, it was surely going to break his best friend more.
They made it to the funeral home where Evanâs mother was being kept at, from there they were going to take her to the familyâs plot and bury her.
Drew hissed as he spots his parents, Andrew seem as if he didnât want to be there, his mother had a sickly smile as she stood next to Andrew. When Drew connected his eyes with his fatherâs, he couldnât help but scoff at the older man.
He was supposed to be next to Evan, consoling him but Andrew thought it would be best if he kept his distance, he didnât want Evan to have and even harder time if his father found out they were together, Andrew admitted he wanted to tell them, just for shits and giggles, but under the circumstances they were in, he thought it was the right thing to not bring to light what was happening between them, it still hurt not being able to hug Evan and tell him, that everything would be alright. How could he even say that?
His mother died, and it would be far from alright. Evan didnât even glance Andrewâs way, he just stared at the coffin his mother was in, and Andrew saw how Evan was holding Drewâs hand, as if that was his lifeline.
And on top of everything his goddamn ex-wife was refusing to sign the divorce papers, she swore if Andrew had a new love in his life that she would make their life a living hell, Andrew wasnât afraid of what she can do to him. But he also didnât want her to bother Evan right now, so his decision to not tell anyone about him and the younger man, was so that he could protect Evan, he was vulnerable right now because of the loss of his mother, and he didnât need grief from his fucking ex-wife.
He wince at the accusing look his son was giving him, but he just looked away, because he felt guilty as it is without Drew making him feel worse.
ââThank you all for coming on this sad day, today we say goodbye to one of godâs child, he had decided to take her from us and as we say our last goodbyes, we shouldnât cry because now sheâs in good hands, she wonât suffer as she rest in peace, Kate was a wonderful sweet woman and we will missed her terribly, but she is not gone for good, she will be looking after her loving husband and son, so as we lower her into the ground, letâs remember the good memories she left us and let us pray for her as she goes into the afterlife.ââ The priest said and Evan choked up, as he sees his mother being put in the ground. Then he glance towards his father and saw nothing, his face was blank, void of any emotions he might have towards his wife.
Evan shook his head and turn his gaze back to his mother, once she was in there, he got closed and lifted a red rose from a floral arrangement, he didnât want to throw dirt on her, it seemed wrong so he opted for a rose instead, ââgoodbye mother, youâll always be in my heart.ââ Evan whispers softly, he felt Drewâs hand in his once again and he silently thanked him for being there for him.
The funeral was done and they all went back to Evanâs house, well his parentâs, he didnât want to go there but it was required of him to go in there, the lawyer wasnât allowed to read the will without Evanâs presence.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
ââHello Evan, Iâm glad youâre here, shall we start?ââ The lawyer questions and Evan nods as he goes and stands by the window, his father was sitting on his office chair, as the lawyer set down on the chair across from Evanâs father.
ââOk, first of all Evan your mother had written a letter to you in one of her conscious moments, she took care of the will as well, and gave me instructions that if and when she died, for me to make sure you got it.ââ Evan was speechless as he stares at the letter on the lawyerâs hand.
He was shaking as he reached for it. He wished he had Drew here with him but he wasnât allowed, thanks to the bastard sperm donor, he clutch the letter to his chest for a few seconds and sigh as he hears a grunt coming from the asshole.
He opens it and stares at his motherâs hand writing.
Dear Evan,
My sweet little boy, if youâre reading this letter then I know Iâm no longer making you suffer.
First of all, I want to say that Iâm sorry for failing as a mother, you were supposed to be able to count on me for everything, but I didnât let it happen for my own selfish reasons, I want you to know that I have always loved you, I never shared your fatherâs views and I beat myself for not helping you, you being gay never made me stop loving you, and I only hoped I was strong enough to go and look for you. Please donât cry for me, Iâm in a better place now, I want you to embrace happiness, find that special someone, just because your fatherâs and my marriage fail doesnât mean yours will too. Evan you are a smart, handsome young man and you deserved someone to love you and care for you, so donât shut anyone out, you are strong. Donât let your fatherâs hatred stop you, heâs an awful man who was selfish just like me, Evan you deserved better parents, I hope you can forgive me for all the wrongs I did to you, I shouldâve been a better mother to you, I shouldâve been there for you and I shouldâve never let your father shunned you the way he did, if anything he shouldâve been the one to be kicked out and cut off not you. So today, Iâm making this right once and for all, on the will Iâm leaving you everything, the house, the cars, the money, everything is yours, I left your father nothing, he doesnât deserved anything from me or you. He will be a broke man from this day on.
All my love, mom.
Evan finishes reading, with tears rolling down his cheeks.
He then lifted his gaze and nodded to the lawyer to let him know he can start reading the will.
Honestly Evan didnât care about the possessions, all he cared was that his mother did love him and that was good enough for him.
ââThis is a very short will, since everything thatâs listed on here belongs to Evan, to you sir, she left you nothing, and you can moved out as soon as Evan orders you, you canât contest the will, your wife made sure of that.ââ Evanâs fatherâs face turn red in anger, he stood up and glared at Evan.
ââYouâre still a disgusting faggot!ââ The bastard sneered at Evan.
Evan had enough, he remembered his father used to be nice and loving, what changed?
ââWhy do you hate me so much? You hated me even before I told you I was gay, so why?ââ Evan finally asks his question.
ââI did loved your mother and you, but I started to hate you so much after what happened, it was your fault she went into depression, she lost her second child because you kept making her play, the doctor had told her she needed bed rest for the duration of her pregnancy, but you kept begging her to play with you, so she had a miscarriage, and it was your fault!ââ He shouted angry at Evan.
ââI was a child for fucks sakes, how was I supposed to know.ââ Evan cried desperately.
ââSince then, our marriage drifted apart, she started with prescribed meds, than the drinking, she was always drunk so I started looking for companionship elsewhere, I couldnât even looked at you after that, god I hated you so much and I still do, now not only did you kill our family but you also got rewarded for it, Iâm done, Iâm moving out, have a wonderful fucking life.ââ He walked out leaving the lawyer and Evan standing there in silence, he was trying to process everything he had been told.
ââIt was my fault.ââ Evan whispers in pain.
Evanâs dad came stomping down the stairs, only to come face to face with Drew.
ââEnjoy my fucking son and his money!ââ He snarls at Drew.
ââYou donât get to call him son, you are nothing but a piece of shit!ââ Drew has had enough so his control slip away as he glares at Evanâs father, the man narrows his eyes at Drew, ââno wonder you two were always joined at the hip, youâve been fucking him since you two were little, havenât you?ââ Drew sucked in some air, and then gritted his teeth.
ââHeâs like a brother to me, I would never go there with him, but I do love him.ââ Drew didnât know why he had to defend himself against this asshole, and he wouldnât have but the fucker was insulting Evan and that was a no, no with Drew.
ââYeah right, youâre just like your mother a fucking whore!ââ Evanâs dad shouts angrily as he pushes Drew with force, making Drew almost trip but he regained his step.
ââWell you ought to know, you fucked her and donât act like youâre any different than her,ââ Drew retaliates by pushing him back and without watching was he was saying he screamed, ââIâm happy that Evan is with my dad at least he makes him happy, you and my mother can go rot in hell!ââ Drew snaps angrily and they both froze on the spot.
Drew saw all the emotions changing on Evanâs dad, confusion as he ran the words in his head, anger as soon as the words became clear.
Without a word, Evanâs dad growled and stomp his feet as he walks out of the house.
Drew lifted his gaze towards the top of the stairs, he saw Evan looking shock, and Drew knew his best-friend had heard everything that went on between him and Lucas.
ââYou know you just out it your father.ââ Evan points out after the shock wore off.
ââFuck, come on letâs go to my house, Iâm betting that thatâs where heâs going.ââ Drew said as he puts walks towards the door.
Drewâs house was only two or three houses down from Evanâs, so they could walk there, they both hurry up and went up to the front door, they could hear arguing.
~*~*~*~*~*~*
Andrew was arguing with his ex-wife, she flat out refused to divorce him, trying to say that they could work it out; they could get marriage counseling, talk to a therapist or something, that she still loves him and didnât want to lose him.
The thing was, Andrew didnât love her anymore, even if he wasnât in love with Evan, he still wouldnât even think about getting back together, his love for her died a long time ago and she was only prolonging the divorce for her own selfish reasons.
ââAly, itâs over between us, Iâm happy right now so just sign the goddamn divorce and move on.ââ Andrew tried to make her understand and he was losing what little patience he had left, fucking shit, I want Evan, I need to be there with him. Andrew kept thinking about the younger man, he wanted to be back in New York, with him, cuddling in Evanâs bed, not here fighting with his ex-wife.
ââJust give us a chance, I know we can make it work, you said youâre not seeing anyone else, Iâll move to New York with you, we can try it, please.ââ She begged him but he still shook his head no.
He open his mouth to tell her again what heâs been telling her, but a slam on the front door made them both look towards it finding one pissed off Lucas.
ââYou fucked my son?ââ He spats as he walks closer to Andrew.
ââWhat, no I didnât!ââ Alyssa exclaimed thinking he was talking about her.
ââNot you, stupid bitch, your fucking husband did!ââ Â Lucas seethes and Andrew stares at him, this was it; he can come clean and tell them the truth or not say anything and deny everything.
ââWhat no, I didn-ââ He didnât finish his sentence, what was he supposed to say?
Did he want to deny it? He knew he was head over heels in love with Evan, so what was stopping him from admitting his feelings for Evan? Hell he wanted to shout his proclaiming his love for Evan, in just a small amount of time, the younger man had manage to creep into Andrewâs heart and he would be lying if he said he didnât want Evan in there, just the opposite of that, he wanted Evan to stay and make a himself at home in there, Andrew should be the one protecting him, right?
His gaze found the other two people behind an angry Lucas, when did they come in?
He met Evanâs eyes they were full of hope and fear, then Drewâs were warning him to do the right thing. Andrew knew his decision. If he denies it he would lose Evan and his son.
He turn to look at a surprised Alyssa, she was looking at Andrew then at Evan, once it dawned on her what Lucas had said she went up to Evan and slapped him across the face.
Andrew launches at her and roughly pulls her away from Evan, who was shocked. Drew growled as he grabs Evanâs wrist and puts him behind him, to protect him from the crazy people in the room.
ââI known you since you were a little boy, you went with us to our family vacation, and this is how you repay me, by sleeping with my husband.ââ Alyssa bit off, trying to get out of Andrewâs hold so that she could slap him again.
ââIâm sorry.ââ Evan whispered looking to the floor, feeling ashamed.
ââYouâre fucking disgusting!ââ Evanâs dad accuse and Drew had enough of the âletâs blame Evan game-.
ââEnough! Who the fuck do two think you are, you fucked each other for the longest times, and you stand there pointing a finger at Evan and my dad? How fucking dare you?ââ Drew hissed at his mother and Evanâs father.
ââGuess what, if you two hadnât been sleeping with each other, then they never wouldâve been together, you two push them towards each other, you mother by being a fucking slut and you,ââ he points at Lucas and says, ââfor being a homophobic asshole, you kicked him out.ââ
They all stayed quiet, Evan sighs tiredly as he looks around, this was a mess. His life was a mess and he just needed peace and quiet, he stares at his father and clears his throat.
ââYouâre out of my life, so you donât get to decide who Iâm with, only I can do that, starting tomorrow, I want you far away from my house or any of my properties, disappear and leave me alone.ââ Evan spoke leaving no room to argue.
He turns to Alyssa and tilts his head to the side. ââYes, I did a lot of things with your family, but that was because you were getting it on with my father, so letâs not play coy here, if anything you were using mine and Drewâs friendship so that you can fuck daddy dearest.ââ Evan drawls as he looks at her and his father.
The bitch actually looked ashamed, but when she lifted her gaze she glare daggers at Evan.
Evan ignored her, he was tired and he wanted to get this shit over with, he wanted to keep his sanity and he knew what he had to do.
ââIâm moving on with my life, and the only person out of this room, that I want to stay in contact with is Drew, no one else, Iâm done with all this drama, Iâm going to live my life, Andrew I will never forget our weekend together, but itâs clear you donât want a relationship and maybe I donât either.ââ Evan paused for a few seconds, he was having a hard time saying this, his heart was hurting, in his head he was screaming, stupid donât fucking let him go! Hang on to him!
But the memory of Andrew moving away from him at the airport, and the way he stood with his wife during his motherâs funeral, were still fresh in his mind and that help him continue. And just now when his father had accused him of sleeping with Evan, Andrew had started to deny it.
ââIâm breaking all ties with you,ââ he points to his father, ââand you,ââ he points to Alyssa, ââand you as well.ââ He whispers when he points to Andrew, Evan avoid it locking gazes with Andrew, he knew he would break if he did.
Evan was exhausted of everything that happened to him, his motherâs death, his fatherâs hatred and the loss of a man, he had fallen in love with, he needed this to be done and over with.
Evan saw how his father just shook his head no, and glared at all the people in there and left, not even a bye, or go rot in hell, nothing towards him, and up until this moment, Evan hadnât realized a small part of him still held on to that silly, boyhood dream, where his father still loved him, when he used to play and laugh with him. Now it had been shattered in a million pieces, and it hurt, it hurt a lot.
But before he step out of the house he turns and looks at Andrew with disgust, ââI guess we switch huh Andrew, I fucked your wife, and you go and fucked my son, weâre not really that different after all.ââ He left after that slamming the door behind him.
ââCome on Evan, letâs go back to the hotel.ââ Drew said as he pulls Evan with him. He glared at his father.
Drew wanted his father to fight for Evan, he wanted him to stop him from leaving but Andrew just stood there staring at them as they walked away.
Andrew wanted to stop Evan from leaving, but couldnât, he was scared of being rejected, and it pained him to watch Evan walk away from him, he was walking out of his life.
ââAlyssa, sign the fucking divorce papers, Iâm done with you.ââ Andrew said as he stares at the door where Evan and his son had disappeared, he wanted the younger man in his life, but first he needed to make sure this bitch was out of his life, so that he can be with Evan, and make him happy.
Alyssa wanted to argue but the determine look Andrew had on his face, made her agree.
ââHere, I guess now I know why you never satisfied me in bed since, you like little boys.ââ She accuse Andrew and he growls at her, ââheâs not a little boy heâs almost twenty years old and heâs more man than his father will ever be.ââ She ignores his words and finishes signing the divorce papers, she raise an eyebrow at him as if waiting for him to leave her home. She knew she couldnât make him stay with her, she saw the look in his eyes when he was looking at Evan, he loves him and Alyssa knew it. And she wasnât going to try to fight a man for Andrew, she had her pride to think about, and she knew that if she went against Evan she would lose and that canât ever happen.
ââAre you fucking kidding me, I bought this house so you have to get the fuck out.ââ She drop her mouth wide open in surprised, as he snorted.
ââYouâre kicking me out? Iâm the mother of your child!ââ He shrugs off and gave her his best I donât give a fuck look, he points to the front door without saying a word, and she huffed and grabs her purse and car keys and leaves.
And now all he had to do is think of a plan to get Evan back.
He wanted the younger man back in his life.
