Evan was in classes, but his mind was on Andrew, the way he kissed him, the way he cuddled with him at night and the way they both woke up this morning not wanting to leave the apartment.
Andrew had said he wished he could just call in to work and stay in but what kind of example would that be to the other employees.
Evan didnât want to come to school as well but being close to summer, he needed to keep up with his work, he was also looking into some internships at a few architects firms around the area, there was a very good one in California and they had offer him the position but he didnât know if he wanted to leave Drew and Andrew for the summer. This early in the relationship and he would be gone for the whole summer, he was afraid of leaving and Andrew finding someone else new, or worst realize he wasnât gay and go back to woman.
He was being insecure, his self-esteem was at its lowest, but he couldnât he help it.

Andrew worked in his office, most of the day went quietly, he had a big smile on his face and his mind was full of Evan, the way he looks when Andrew kisses him, the way he blushes when Andrew compliments him, and the way he writhes when Andrew is making love to him. That look of pure bliss he gets in his eyes, no one had ever looked at Andrew that way before, not even his ex-wife.
And thinking about his ex-wife, brought up a few concerns. Apparently she flat out refused to sign the divorce papers, she was trying to blame Andrew for her cheating, she said that he had neglected her for so long always putting the job before her and thatâs why she had to go and look for someone that would care for her, the funny thing is that Evanâs dad had dumped her since she was broke, so now she wanted Andrew to stay married to her. Andrew wasnât going to give in, he was done with her and he didnât owe her a damn thing.
Now all he wanted was to go back to the apartment and see Evan, the younger man brightens his day just by smiling at him.

Evan was just getting out of his last class for the day, and started walking towards Drewâs classroom, to see if his best-friend was done as well, on his way there his cellphone vibrated and he frowns at that, who would be calling him? Drew was on campus and Andrew was still at work, David should know better than to call him.
When he saw the caller id he went pale, his throat went dry and debated whether to answer or not.
The cell stops vibrating, but then it starts back up again, deciding to just get this over with, he unlocks his screen and puts the device on his ear.
ââHello.ââ He wince at how small he sounded, but how can he not, this was his parents calling, the parents who said they didnât want a gay son, well his dad since his mom was too doped up and drunk to even realize her husband was disowning her son, right in front of her.
ââEvan, you need to come home.ââ Evanâs father orders with a cold voice.
ââWhy? Why would I do that, last time we saw each other you said I wasnât welcome there.ââ Evan managed to say, still with a trembling voice.
ââYeah well, your mother died last night, I guess the liver got tired of her popping pills and drinking them with straight vodka, now we bury her tomorrow and the lawyers said you needed to be here for the reading of the will.ââ Evan blinked a couple of times, was he hearing this right? Did his father just say his mom died? He felt tears threating to come out, he stops walking and leans on a wall.
ââShe, she, but why? When, was she alone?ââ Dear god, did his mother died alone? No one should die alone, no one deserved that, was she drunk? Did she die in her sleep, did she think about him before she passed? So many questions and they were going to go unanswered.
ââListen to me, I donât know how, I just know she died sometime last night, I wasnât around and found her laying on the couch, already dead, now get your ass back here so we can do the burial and the reading of the will.ââ His father snapped at him, and Evan gritted his teeth, his father always the asshole.
ââFine, Iâll take the first plane out there, I take it my credit card is still working?ââ Evan questions bitterly.
ââLike I said, we would pay for your studies and expenses, so yes you still have money in there.ââ His dad replied with a harsh tone.
ââFine then, Iâll be there as soon as I can!ââ Evan hangs up the phone without so much as a good bye.

Forgetting that he was going to find Drew, he left campus and went straight to the apartment, so many things were going through his mind, he was going to pack, call the airlines for a plane ticket, leave a note to Andrew and Drew in case he didnât see them, he lost his mom and his mind was on a fog.
When he got into the apartment, he went and sits on the couch. He felt empty, and so many emotions were going through his mind, his mom was dead and he was never going to see her, when he was little he remember how sweet his mom was, how she used to pack his launch for school and drove him there, even though his mom had come from money, she still did things for him, she never believed in nannies, cooks and butlers. He hasnât seen her for over a year and since he was forbidden to call the house, he hadnât talk to her either. Without realizing he found himself crying and someone was holding him.
He let go, he let the tears of pain and sadness out and he slumped onto whoever was holding him.
ââBud, whatâs wrong? Please tell me so I can fix it, was it my dad?ââ Drewâs voice sounded concern and angry at the same time. Evan squeeze his eyes shut and buried himself in Drewâs embrace.
ââMy mom, she, my dad called, he said that she, Drew she died last night.ââ Evan managed to say in between crying.
ââOh damn, Iâm sorry Evan, what do you need? Did you booked the ticket yet? Packed?ââ Drew asks as he tightens his hold on Evan.
Evan wonder how long he had been sitting on the couch, but didnât ask out loud. He only shook his head no and hope Drew understood that he hasnât done any of those things yet.
ââOk, you lay here and I will deal with everything, Iâm going with you so that I can be there for you, I think dad is going to want to go as well.ââ Evan just nodded, he didnât want to speak up, and he was scared he would start crying again.

Andrew felt bad for Evan, he had gotten home and found him sleep on the couch, his son had come out of his room with his cellphone on his ear and putting two overnight bags by the door, Andrew frowned but Drew gesture for him to follow him to his bedroom.
ââHis mom passed away and sheâs being buried tomorrow, I just called his father to ask for details, he was a fucking jerk but still gave me the information, he said that of course he knew that I would be coming with Evan since me and him are butt buddies, I wanted to say that he got it all wrong and that it was you who was butt buddies with his son and not me, but I behave giving the circumstances and all.ââ Drew paused as he was off hold, he order two plane tickets, but then he told the travel agent to hold down a minute, ââdad are you coming with us?ââ Andrew nod yes and went to pack his own overnight bag.
Drew order three plane tickets to Los Angeles, and once all the arrangements were done, he went to grab Evanâs laptop and send emails to all his professors letting them know he would be out for a week, due to the loss of his mother, he then packed it and all the chargers Evan needed it, as well as his.
Andrew was proud and a bit surprised at how Drew was, he did all the travel arrangements, and packed both their bags, then he let all his and Evanâs professors about the emergency, while Evan was sleeping, all he needed to do was wake up Evan and Drew told him to do it.
Andrew went and picked Evan in his arms, the younger man open his eyes looking startled but relaxes when he saw it was Andrew.
He gave Evan a sad smile and hugs him tightly, promising without words that he was there for him, that he wasnât alone in this.
Evan seems to understand because he sighs as he snuggles into Andrewâs embrace.
ââOk, we need to get to the airport now, Evan all your things are packed so weâre all ready to go.ââ Drew said with a smile.
Evan got out of Andrewâs embrace and went to Drew, who open his arms and welcome Evan into them.
ââHave I ever told you that youâre the best-friend anyone could ever have and that I love you.ââ Evan whispers with a small sob.
ââEvery single day since our diaper days, but itâs still nice to hear.ââ Drew whispers back.

They boarded the plane, Evan and Andrew were sitting together and Drew was behind them sitting with a cranky old man.
They were quiet, each of them had different things in their minds, Andrew was thinking about keeping his and Evanâs relationship quiet at least during the funeral services, and he was going to make his ex-wife sign the divorce papers.
Evan thought about his mother, memories from before she went into depression, before she used to do fun things with him, always laughing and joking with him. But then she got depressed, she started drinking and taking too many pills, his dad started sleeping around and so did she, Evan always wonder why they did that but never had the balls to ask them, what happened to his mom? Why was she depressed? Was it his fault? His dadâs for sleeping with other woman? Or was it that she was never happy and finally cracked?
He turned to look at Andrew who seem like he was deep in thought, Evan wonder was there really such thing as love? And what he was feeling for Andrew was it love? He wasnât sure anymore, things were confusing and Evan feared that he was only infatuated with the older man, what if they were just having fun? What if they were both seeking companionship and not love?
Evanâs mind was going round and round, why do people bother getting marry if they didnât love each other? Why have kids if youâre just going to give your backs to them at the first sign of trouble?
Drew wince as the voice sounded letting them know to buckle your belts, they were getting ready to land and he woke up with the cranky old manâs head on his shoulder.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~
They all got out of the plane still quiet and only turn to look at Drew when he hissed in discomfort.
ââDamn it!ââ Drew snarls and Evan followed his best-friendâs eyes only to falter on his steps.
Standing there with a smile on her face and waving at them was Drewâs mother, Andrewâs ex.
Evan turns his gaze at Andrew, who seems calm, Evan notice how Andrew moved his body a bit closer to Drew and far from him. Well that answer some of my questions, thereâs no such thing as love. Evan thought bitterly as he continues to walk following Drew and his father.
ââMom, What are you doing here?ââ Drew bit off, showing how unhappy he was with the woman.
ââWell, Lucas told me you were on your way here, so I thought why not come to pick you up, I have to say I didnât expect you to be here Andrew, but itâs good that you came, we have so much to talk about.ââ Drewâs mother rants and then her gaze fell on Evan.
ââEvan honey, Iâm sorry for your loss.ââ She moved to give him a hug and Evan steps aside.
ââThank you, and I appreciate you coming here, but Iâll take a cab.ââ Evan retorts with a harsh voice.
Andrew turn to look at him, but Evan refused to meet his eyes, to Evan Andrew wasnât the reason he wasnât getting in the same car as that bitch, no, the real reason was that the bitch had a hand in his motherâs depression, she slept with that fucker good for nothing asshole that Evan has the misfortune of calling father, it wasnât because he was jealous of the bitch, or because Andrew had put distance between him and Evan as soon as he saw his ex-wife.
Drew narrow his eyes at his father, he had notice the moved his old man made when he had spotted his mother, and he was sure Evan had seen it as well.
ââIâm going with Evan, I came to be with him.ââ Drew declares and his mother dropped her smile.
ââBut Drew, youâre always with him, and you hardly even come see me, I thought you could spend some time with me.ââ Drew gritted his teeth.
ââYeah, now you see how I used to feel when I was home and you would leave me alone so you could go entertained your male friends, oh and Evanâs dad, how can you stand there facing Evan when we all know you fucked his father.ââ His mother wince at the cold voice Drew was using on her.
ââDrew, she still your mother and you need to respect her.ââ Andrew states in a soft quiet voice.
They were in the middle of the airport, attracting an audience and Evan hated it.
ââRespect is earned and I have to say old man, you quickly losing mine towards you.ââ Drew snaps and Evan had enough of it.
ââOk, Iâm leaving, Iâll see you all tomorrow at the funeral.ââ Evan started walking away from them.
His heart was hurting, from the loss of his mother and now pretty much Andrew, he had hoped Andrew would follow him but he had learned dreaming was a waste of time, when he felt someone holding him by the arm his heart flutter a little but when he turned to face the person, he wanted to cry.
Drew was the one holding his arm, with a small soft smile.
ââHe went with her, he said that he needed to talk to her since sheâs refusing to sign the divorce.ââ Evan nodded and they resume walking.
Even if that was the reason, Evan wasnât counting on Andrew coming back to him, why would he?
His and Andrewâs wasnât even a relationship yet, they only spend one weekend together, and Evan knew it wasnât enough to fall in love with someone, but could someone tell that to his stupid heart, because he had fallen so deep in love with the older man he didnât have a chance in hell on getting out of that fucking deep hole.
Why was it that he was always falling for unavailable man?
