Chapter 0185 Chapter 0185 Ella POV âHe is a difficult man to shop for,â Elizabeth said as we left our fourth stop emptyâhanded.
âI think Iâm making it more difficult than it needs to be,â I admitted, frustration seeping into my tone. âI just want to get something that will really make an impact on him, and nothing feels right.â
âWell, we still have plenty of stores to check,â she reassured me. âAnd if we donât find anything here, weâve got the rest of the city to try.â
âI canât drag James shopping around the entire city,â I said, glancing back at him sympathetically.
âI donât mind,â James replied with an amused smile.
âYou have to say thatâitâs your job,â I argued, narrowing my eyes. âBut I can tell how miserable you are.â
âIâm really not,â he said, laughing lightly.
âWell, thatâs good because this is turning into quite the ordeal,â I sighed. âWho wouldâve thought itâd be so difficult to find a gift for him?â
âHe never asks for anything,â James said with a shrug. âAnd heâs not that particular about most things. Itâs not like he has a signature cologne or a favorite type of accessory. Iâve never put much thought into what a good gift for him would be, but now that I have, it seems impossible to decide.â
âItâs just like James says,â Elizabeth chimed in, her voice tinged with curiosity. âIâve known Alexander socially for years, and yet I canât think of a single thing.â
âYou know, we visited his family home this week,â I said, almost to myself. âI saw his childhood bedroom. Youâd think that would give me some insight, but it was just as plain and minimal as his office. It gave me nothing.â
âYouâve been together for a while now,â Elizabeth said thoughtfully, her expression sharpening. âI mean, youâre getting married.
You have to have some idea of what he likes.â
âFine wine, good food, bespoke clothing,â I said, listing each with growing exasperation. âBut those are so impersonal. I could try taking him out to dinner, but heâd insist on paying. And itâs not like I can sneak to his tailor and buy him a-â
An idea struck me midâsentence, and I let my words trail off as I focused on it. Could it actually work?
âWhat is it?â Elizabeth asked, her brow furrowing when I fell silent. âDid you have an idea, or did you swallow a bug?â
I laughed, realizing my mouth was still slightly open. Elizabethâs teasing was lighthearted, and I didnât take it to heart.
âWhat if I did go to his tailor?â I suggested, the idea taking form as I spoke. âHeâd already have all of Alexanderâs measurements, and he could help me design something. Heâd have a sense of what Alexander likes, right?â
Elizabeth considered this for a moment, tilting her head. âThatâs not a bad thought. Though, I have to say, Alexander probably owns enough suits to last him several lifetimes.â
âWhat if it were for a specific occasion?â I countered, my excitement growing. âThe suit could be part of the gift, and the occasion he wore it for could be the other part.â
âOh, like a special suit for a special date night?â Elizabeth said, her face lighting up. âNow thatâs a cute idea. Youâd just have to come up with the perfect date.â

This one might be easier, though,â she reassured me. âYou two have been on plenty of dates by now, so you already know what he likes to do, right?â
âThatâs true,â I admitted, feeling a flicker of hope. âWith a little more time and thought, Iâm sure I could come up with something amazing.â
Elizabeth turned to James with a conspiratorial look. âShould we stop by the tailorâs shop? I think heâs been using the one here in the shopping center lately. Itâs convenient for him.â
