Chapter 30: Chapter 30

A Mouth Full of Blood.Words: 8255

The next day, Scarlet didn't talk to John, Oliver or Vinny. She spoke with her parents like normal but they still needed to have a chat with her. They thought she would settle into the idea of Vinny having a human male for a soulmate overnight. However, clearly, she didn't.

It was now the afternoon and Vinny was sitting next to the bar in the restaurant. He promised Oliver that the next time he worked, he would keep an eye on him.

Oliver really struggled to get up this morning. They both stayed awake late into the night, talking about anything and everything. Vinny loved that about his soulmate. He loved that he could just talk to him and be himself. He hasn't felt that way in such a long time and it was really refreshing and nice.

So Oliver was tired and the vampire had to wake him several times before he was late. Not that he would get into trouble, But Oliver just didn't feel that he should take advantage now that he was the Master's soulmate. He still wanted to work hard and prove himself.

Vinny crossed his arms and glared at the customers. As always, him being around was the centre of attention while they looked between him and Oliver. He was at a table, trying to take orders but all he was getting was question after question. It has been like this for most of the morning.

It was becoming extremely hard for Vinny to sit in a room full of humans when his annual blood day is tomorrow. But he had to be strong, for his soulmates sake.

"So what are the Vanderwood's like in person?" A woman asked as she smiled at Oliver. She was being nice to him and seemed genuinely interested.

"They're very lovely people." He returned the smile.

"I always wondered what they were like. And the Master, is he really as angry as he looks?" She grinned. Oliver turned to see him, looking incredibly moody.

"Not with me. But I can't say the same for anyone else." They both chuckled.

"You're lucky you know. He's a very handsome young man."

Oliver liked this woman. She was the first one who wasn't rude to him.

"He his, isn't he," He turned back to Vinny who was watching him. He softened his expression when they made eye contact.

"Gosh, you two are so sweet," She hummed before telling Oliver what she would like to order. It is people like this woman who he wished the world was full of. Why do people feel that their bad opinions need to be said? Do they get a kick out of making a person feel down about themselves? He didn't know, but this woman has made his afternoon a lot happier.

As he walked towards the kitchen, he stopped next to the vampire.

"When is your lunch break?" He asked.

"Soon, I think. I'll have to ask Desmond," Oliver shrugged and fastened up his top button again.

"I still need to talk to my dad about him," Vinny muttered.

"He hasn't been too bad today, but it's only lunchtime. There's plenty of time yet."

"I hate him."

Oliver just shook his head.

"You know Vinny, I really love that smile," He said sarcastically, making him roll his eyes.

"I would probably look a lot happier if I wasn't surrounded by people."

"You don't have to stay here. I don't mind if you want to go." Oliver stepped closer with a heavy beating heart. He didn't want him to leave but it wasn't better to make him stay if he was grumpy about it. But Vinny shook his head to say no.

"I'm having a much better time here than I would if I was stuck with Scarlet," He reached out and took his soulmate's hand, making him smile. "Plus, I like watching you." Vinny realised that his words may have sounded a little creepy however, Oliver didn't mind, he found it quite sweet.

"You do?" He intertwined their fingers.

"Of course." Vinny smiled. But it was only small and probably barely even noticeable to the public but to Oliver, it was huge.

"Right, let me get these orders in and I'll ask Desmond when my lunch break is," Oliver turned and Vinny stood up.

"I'm coming with you." They both walked together to the kitchen. All eyes were on them as they continued to hold hands and walk close. Oliver has somewhat gotten used to it.

When they entered the kitchen, Oliver put his orders on the metal peg line before walking up to Desmond. Vinny waited near the door, he wanted to watch how Desmond responded to his soulmate. Especially after he shouted at him the other day.

"Excuse me, Desmond?" Oliver asked politely, making him turn around. When he saw it was him, he frowned deeply.

"What?" He seemed impatient.

"I was just wondering when I could have my lunch break."

Desmond looked at his watch. Oliver had been working since half 8 and it was almost 2 now. He was well due some time off.

"You can have one in two hours," He said smugly. Oliver and Vinny both raised their eyebrows, but of course, Desmond had not seen the Master standing in the corner.

"Two hours?" He asked as workers were looking at Desmond and shaking their heads. "But-"

"Yes, now get back to work," He spoke in his usual monotone voice before turning back round.

Oliver sighed and walked over to Vinny who looked incredibly angry. His tall stance and his stormy eyes were about to unleash onto Desmond.

"You," Vinny muttered and pointed at a member of the kitchen staff. He jumped and spun on his heels. "Get over here."

The worker sheepishly scurried over to him with his head down, fearing what was about to be said.

"Y-Yes, Master?"

"What does Desmond actually do here?" His glare was putting the guy off a little but Oliver gently nudged him, making him attempt to look a little more friendly. However, it didn't work.

"He um, he gives us orders."

"And these orders, could you manage without them for the rest of the day?"

"Um, we could manage without them y-yes, Master."

"Vinny?" Oliver questioned. Vinny glanced at him before standing up straight.

"You're having your lunch break, now," He muttered and started walking past them. He headed straight for Desmond who still hadn't noticed he was in the kitchen.

He wanted to hit him but did his best to keep calm. He cleared his throat, making him turn with a sigh and a frown but that was quickly wiped from his face when he saw who it was.

"Desmond!" Vinny said through gritted teeth and crossed his arms. At this point, most members of staff had stopped to watch. "Get out."

Desmond's mouth opened in surprise.

"But, I'm needed in the kitchen," His frown started to come back.

"Not anymore, go home." He was blunt.

Desmond looked around and of course, nobody was going to stick up for him.

"Forgive me for saying Master, but I'm here more than you. I know when I'm needed." Desmond took a small step back, not knowing if he crossed the line or not.

Vinny stared at him blankly but that's the opposite of how he felt. Oliver could almost feel his anger building up as everyone watched Vinny's face, knowing that Desmond had pushed his luck.

The vampire stepped closer and casually linked his fingers together.

"Do you think it's fair that someone who has been working since half eight in the morning, doesn't get their lunch break until four in the afternoon?" He clenched his jaw, trying so hard to hold back his violent fists.

"Uh, well you see, it's bu-"

"No, was the correct answer," Vinny interrupted. "And do you think it's fair that you're still working here after calling a member of staff, a slut?" The anger was clearly showing in his tone.

"but, she was-"

"No, no it isn't!" Vinny growled. "You push your luck time after time. Why do you think that is acceptable?"

Desmond looked around, everyone was now staring at him but Oliver was watching Vinny. He liked his authority and powerful voice. Desmond didn't reply but he sent daggers with his stare in Oliver's direction.

Vinny saw that and his patience snapped.

"Get out!" He roared. Desmond almost whimpered while he shuffled back with fear. "If you make me tell you again, I'll take you out myself!"

Everyone was silent as Desmond finally did what he was told. He quickly sprinted out of the kitchen, not wanting to look back.

Vinny walked over to Oliver and slid his hand effortlessly into his.

"Lunch break?" He asked casually. Oliver chuckled and nodded.

"You're pleased aren't you?"

"Yes, I don't know why I didn't do that earlier," He sighed as they started walking towards the door.

"He's such a weird person."

"That's a nice way of putting it."
