It was morning. The sun was sparkling. Birds were chirping. Droplets of water from yesterday's rain were seen on leaves. The water droplets were reflecting the morning sun's rays.
Inshort, it was a beautiful morning. Unfortunately I didn't have to wake up on such an auspicious morning since I didn't sleep a wink.
The first thing I wanted to do while getting out of the bed was to yeet this god forsaken book. I have no idea as to why I even read this stupid book. The whole time I was reading it I was cringing over and over. I want to slap the past me if possible for having such pathetic taste in books.
I got out of the bed and stretched my arms. I'm definitely gonna have eyebags.
"Goodmorning mylady, Did you have a good sleep?" Mary asked while getting herself into my bedroom.
"No" I replied while quickly hiding the book in one of my drawers.
"Oh my God! Lady! You look horrible!"Mary said frightened by my appearance.
Of course the eyebags along with my bed hair is an amazing combination.
"I know,Mary. Can you do me a favor and bring me some coffe?. No wait scratch that a lot of coffee. Bring me lots and lots of it " I said while making way to the bathroom yawning.
"On my way, lady!" Mary exclaimed
stepping out of the room.
After drinking coffee and doing my morning preparations, I went straight to my training area and told Sir Ernest about my situation.
The burly man understood what I said and he decided to teach me archery instead of swordsmanship.
"I thought you said archery wasn't a noble art?" I asked suspiciously.
"It isn't" He said firmly.
"Then how come you're so good at it?" I inquired.
"I wasn't a noble to begin with" He replied bluntly.
Ah right. He was a commoner who was gifted with the title of nobility by the Emperor due to his achievements in war.
I nodded and did everything as he instructed.
Even during training my mind was filled with questions. Questions from the book. I pursed my lips.
"Your ladyship, your complexion doesn't look great. We should take the afternoon off" He said looking at me. Unlike yesterday his eyes didn't held disappointment instead it held worry.
"Huh?- Ah yes. Thank you very much"I gave him a gentle bow and left the training ground sighing. I can't really access the experiment room since I blew it up but father has made all the preparations to renovate that room for me so I'll have to put my experiments with Iglo on a hold now.
I have so much on my mind. I'm really craving some icecream!
Ice-cream~ Here I come~
I spend the afternoon siting under a tree's shade and eating ice-cream while admiring the muscles of the Salvair knights.
Muscles are a gift from god.
I feel bad for ditching all of my work from the chrysanthemum trading house to Claire. Luckily she seems to enjoy working there. I have way too many responsibilities now.
*Sighs*
I took a scoop and ate it while drooling over the knights. They were doing laps and exercises. I'm lucky that they were doing it while taking their shirts off. But some of them were still wearing their shirts. Tsk tsk. Nevermind their shirts are also drenched in sweat so it gives me an even better view.
Gosh I'm such a pervert! Not that I complain.
I can't see Sir Rufus anywhere though. He must be busy.
Let's just enjoy the muscles and ice-cream.
This is heaven ~
I glanced at the book on my lap.'Four blossoms of spring'. Even the name sounds cringe.
The ending of this book was really bullshit. The author must've been delusional to make such an ending. Not to mention the amount of plot holes it had.
The climax of this book was a revolution. A group of powerful nobles revolted and his majesty, Reynold Remeere Rultaz was killed. The revolution was led by Marquis Leiber. During the revolution a monster specifically Cerberus was unleashed which caused great havoc and destruction all over the empire.
Everything seem to connect now.
While all of this was happening our dear hero and heroine had fled to the neighbouring empire and spend the rest of their lives lovingly while living as commoners.
That's bullshit!
Their empire is getting destroyed while both of them were romancing in another kingdom.
That's just not it. In order for both of them to escape, The second and third male leads ended up sacrificing their lives.
Cesar Vakaracia, the magician and Ronin Castria, the sword master gave up their lives fighting the monster while these two dimwits were spending their honeymoon.
I realised my visions were all true. Everything seem to fall into places. Everything except the information regarding the revolution.
I sighed and shaked the thoughts off. I'll just ask Elixir when I see him.
Concentrate on the muscles Rina!
As I took another scoop and looked at the muscles my vision was blocked by a white shirt.
Wait.
White shirt?
I looked up and saw Elixir looking at me with an irk mark on his forehead while he was smiling.
What's with him?
"Um. Elixir you're blocking my view" I blurted out.
"Your view?" He asked still smiling.
"Yes! Anyways come sit beside me and have this ice-cream" I said cheerfully.
"I will but before that you seem to be enjoying muscles a bit too much. Don't you think?"He said smiling.
"I am? Well we all have our own stress reliever?.. Hahahaha?"I awkwardly laughed and tried to take a glance at the knights behind Elixir.
"You seem to be quite desperate" He narrowed his eyes at me and the next thing he did completely took me off guard.
"Elixir! What the hell! Why are you stripping?!"I yelled covering my innocent eyes with my hands.
"You were pretty desparate so why don't I help you with your stress?"He asked innocently while tilting his head.
I peeked through my hands and saw that the shirt was on his shoulder almost off him fully exposing his torso.
Damn he has abs...He has an even toned skin as well..
No! Don't think about your best friend like that you pervert!
"Elixir please just cover yourself!"I begged him while shielding my virgin eyes.
"You can drool at those knight's muscles but you are refusing mine?" He said pouting.
That's because you are my bestfriend you shameless brat!
"Do you wanna touch it?" He asked leaning closer towards me.
"You pervert!" I slapped him with the book I had in my hands.
"Pft- You look adorable blushing like that" He said while putting on his shirt back.
This jerk just wanted to tease me! Since when did he ever become this daring. Oh my gosh! I was a blushing mess.
I took a deep breath composing myself as Elixir sat beside me making himself comfortable.
"Did you read it?" He asked nonchalantly as if he wasn't trying to strip down a second ago.
"Yes I did" I finally managed to look at him and replied.
"That explains your eyebags" He said inching towards my face examining my eyes. His hands slowly traced my eyebags.
Is it that bad? I sighed.
"Anyways, there are a lot of things left unexplained in this book" I said while he lift his hand away from me.
"Yes there is and especially about the monster attack. Everything is mysterious." He concluded.
"Elixir, the climax of this book is the revolution led by Marquis Leiber and by the looks of it he's the one who unleashed Cerberus in the capital which led to the death of Cesar and Ronin" I said almost shivered by the visions I saw.
"I know. I left your world to prevent that attack but so far I haven't really gotten a clue." He said looking down dejected.
"What do you mean? We've gotten the biggest lead of all, Marquis Leiber!" I proclaimed.
"But it's a dead end,Rina. There's something else..someone, who summoned Cerberus and who's pulling these strings behind the shadows. I just can't put my finger on it" He tapped his chin with his index finger while thinking deeply.
I patted his shoulder reassuring.
"I'm here too. You're not alone, you idiot."He smiled softly.
I can't believe he had to endure this by himself all alone. But not anymore since I'm here.
"Rina, I have a hypothesis. In the book there's no mention of Salvair duchy after Salvarina's death. So it's a possibility that the Duke had something to do with the revolution" He said looking at me.
"That can't be father and the emperor had been close friends for years. So there's no way-" Wait a minute. There's actually way. Father really dotes on me even though he fails to show it sometimes. There's a possibility that he had something to do with the revolt.
"You seem to have gotten it" He raised his eyebrows slightly widening his eyes.
"Yes... But things have changed now. I'm alive, so he has no reason to join the revolution" I said thinking.
"That's true. Nevertheless we'll have to stop this monster attack"He said.
"There's still time for the monster attack. For now we should prepare for the upcoming event." I informed.
"The upcoming event? Oh you mean the ball hosted by the imperial family to announce Mirabel as the crown princess?" He asked.
"Yes but it's strange.. It's supposed to happen earlier."
Looks like my meeting with the emperor has caused the plot to change.
"It'll happen soon" He looked at me and smirked mischievously.
I sighed. There's so much going on to which I know so little.
I felt a bonk on my head. Elixir hit me lightly on the head.
"What was that for?"I asked while caressing my poor head.
"You looked ugly" He said smirking.
"Ohoho. Is that so?" I began pulling his ears.
"What the hell! Ouch stop it!"He screamed while I kept pulling his ears.
"Shouldn't have called me ugly"I said while he grabbed my arms and moved closer to my ear.
"Fine. You look mesmerizing " He admitted while saying this his face was too close to mine as his hot breath fanned over my ear giving me chills.
I slowly let go off his ears.
"Pft- you look like a tomato" He joked as soon as I scooted away from him.
"You little-"I ended up hiting him with my fists while he just laughed.
After the laughter had died down both of us just laid on the grass while looking at the tree above us. Sunlight was creeping through the gaps of the branches.
"I missed you" I said glancing at Elixir.
" I missed you too." He whispered back with softening eyes.
"I'm glad we're back to how we were" I said remembering the times we spent together. It's been almost nine years since we last met and it's not easy for friends to go back to the way they used to be. I'm really blessed to have him as my friend.
"Yeah.." Elixir shifted uncomfortably.
"Is something wrong?" I asked getting up and sitting beside him.
Before he could answer I heard a crow's screeching voice.
"Abrus?" Elixir sat up while extending his arm for the said crow to land on.
"Caw caw caw caw" Abrus said.
Elixir looked deep in thought before standing up.
"Rina, I'll have to go. Something's come up" He sprang up and decided to leave.
"Oh okay. Wait- here take the book with you" I handed him the book back.
"Thanks, Rina" He suddenly disappeared along with the crow leaving me alone under the tree.
What happened?
Oh wait... I forgot the knights!
I looked expectantly at the knights but to my luck there were none. Seems like all of them left to train inside.
Darn it! I miss those muscles ~
Soon after, I got up and dusted the leaves on my dress. Was that crow Elixir's familiar? His name was Abrus huh? Gosh I'm starting to miss Iglo.
Father said to wait for a week and then I'll be able to experiment with him. Even if I summon him he'll just end up reading those erotic BL books again.
What am I gonna do with that worm?~
I sighed and looked up at the blue sky.
The sky looks so clear today.
Gaah.. I miss him already.
