Naina was now five months pregnant, but with her growing belly, it looked as though she could give birth at any moment. Rivaan always accompanied her to every doctorâs appointment, making sure to be there for both her and the baby. But today was different. A sudden emergency at his office meant she had to go alone for her regular checkup.
He was hesitant to let her go by herself, offering to ask his mother to join her since her own mother was still away in the U.S. visiting her sister. Naina politely declined the offer, knowing it would only cause more discomfort than help. In the end, Rivaan arranged for his driver to take her and insisted she call him as soon as she arrived at the hospital.
Sometimes Naina wondered if Rivaanâs concern was for her or just the baby. There were moments when she thought she caught glimpses of deeper emotions in his eyes, but he always kept himself guarded, never fully opening up. Today, though, she was determined to focus on her health and the babyâs wellbeing.
Lying on the examination table, Naina listened to the rhythmic sound of her baby's heartbeat as the doctor performed the ultrasound. "Can you hear it? The baby's heartbeat?" the doctor asked.
"Yes," Naina replied with a soft smile. But as the scan continued, the doctorâs expression suddenly changed, becoming tense.
Nainaâs heart skipped a beat. âIs everything okay, doctor? My baby is fine, right?â
The doctor took a deep breath and turned the screen toward Naina. "Look at this... There's Baby A... and Baby B. Congratulations, Ms. Naina, you're having twins!"
Tears welled up in Nainaâs eyes. She couldnât believe it. Twins. Two little lives growing inside her. As joy and disbelief flooded her, she couldnât help but think about Rivaan's reaction. How would he feel? Would he be happy, or would this add more weight to the complicated situation between them?

On her way home, Naina decided to surprise Rivaan with the news. She bought decorative items and a cake with a message that read, "We are having twins." She wanted the moment to be perfect, imagining the look on Rivaanâs face when she shared the incredible news.
