Chapter 403 Are You Insane A pang of frustration rushed through Nate when Winnie remained silent.
He glanced at the woman and said, âIâll take my medicine first. It seems quite effective.â
After speaking, Nate started to dig for the medicine bottle in his pocket.
Due to his heart condition acting up, his hand had turned numb, causing him to drop the medicine bottle he had just taken out onto the ground.
Winnie grimaced slightly as she heard the bottle fall.
âAre you having problems with your hand?â she asked Nate.
âItâs a little numb. Iâll rest for a while and then pick it up,â the man replied.
Winnie furrowed her brows even tighter. âWhich direction did it roll to?â
Surprised by her question, Nate asked, âAre you going to help me pick it up?â
âWhich direction did it roll?â The woman repeated once more, her scowl deepening.
Upon noticing Winnie was becoming impatient, Nate immediately said, âIt rolled away from the chair toward your left.â
This time, Winnie did not say anything; she got to her feet and moved to the left.
After watching her take four to five steps, Nateâs voice sounded. âStop going forward; thereâs a wall ahead.â
Winnie still did not respond and instead continued to search for Nateâs medicine bottle on the ground.
After the woman had successfully retrieved the medicine bottle, Nate seized the opportunity and said, âThereâs another one on the chair. Itâs to my left and your right. Could you please help me pick it up too?â
Without hesitation, Winnie stepped to the right and leaned over to feel around the chair.
As she bent down, her thick, black curly hair naturally slipped down from her shoulders and fell into Nateâs hand.
At that moment, the man wasnât sure if the scent he smelled was from the perfume on Winnieâs body or the shampoo fragrance lingering on her hair. It was faint yet pleasant.
He hesitated for several seconds before finally lowering his head to sniff.
With just one whiff, he immediately confirmed that the delicate and charming fragrance emanated from Winnieâs hair.
An idea came to his mind.
He wanted to ask the woman what brand and scent of shampoo she used.
Before he could ask the question, a female voice suddenly rang out. âWhat are both of you doing?â
Nate was surprised and looked around for the source of the noise, a guilty expression on his face.
At the same time, Winnie found the medicine bottle and stood up.
She turned to look in the direction of the voice.
Winnie furrowed her brows slightly as she tried to recall who the familiar voice belonged to. âYolanda?â
she asked.
She had heard from Sebastian that Yolanda was doing research with one of his old friends. It turned out that the research was being conducted in this hospital.
Yolanda approached Winnie and Nate and said, âYes, itâs me. What were you two doing just now?â
Winnie frowned slightly when she heard the womanâs irritated tone because she had done nothing wrong.
All I did was help Nate pick up a medicine bottle. Moreover, I canât see anything. Nate should be answering her instead.
Not intending to respond, Winnie silently tossed the medicine bottles into Nateâs arms.
Afraid that Yolanda would realize something was amiss, Nate quickly hid the two bottles of medicine with trembling hands.
Yolandaâs expression darkened as she demanded, âDonât you think you should explain whatâs going on, Nate?â
After taking a deep breath, the man looked at Yolanda with a displeased expression and challenged, âWhatâs there to explain? Canât you see sheâs just helping me pick up something? Besides, what does this have to do with you? Why should I have to explain anything to you?â
âHah!â Yolanda sneered, âI wanted to see you, but you said you were too busy. Yesterday, my grandpa told me that Winnie would be here today. I see that you have followed her here. I used to think that everything on the internet was fake, but now it seems that there really is a reason behind the rumors!
You and your cousin-in-law really do have something going on!â
âWhat nonsense are you saying!â Despite his discomfort, Nate scowled and stood up. He then nervously turned to look at Winnie, afraid that she would be offended by the womanâs remarks.
Winnie remained expressionless as she returned to her seat and took her bag. It seemed that she was preparing to leave.
Meanwhile, Yolanda watched Nateâs actions intently.
She raised her head to glance at Winnie before returning her gaze to Nate. âWhat are you looking at?
She wouldnât bother giving you a second glance even though sheâs blind. Quit staring at her like a pervert,â she sneered.
âShut up!â the man bellowed, infuriated and embarrassed by her harsh words. âWhy canât you stop speaking nonsense?â
âNonsense? Nate Fraser, you might not see how you looked when you smelled her hair just now, but I did. Itâs disgusting and perverted! Youâre so pitiful. You reject those who love you and go after Xavierâs woman. Why do you like every woman heâs ever liked, from Yulissa in the past to Winnie now? Are you crazy? Are you blind? When are you ever going to notice me?â
Nate froze in place, speechless at the revelation.
Yolanda saw me! She saw how I couldnât resist and smelled Winnieâs hair just now.
âGet out! Get out right now!â Nate pointed at Yolanda and yelled, âYouâre the one whoâs crazy, Yolanda Xander! Youâve pestered me for so long. Iâve told you before that I donât like you, nor have I ever liked you! Please get out of my life.â
The man did not want to continue dealing with Yolandaâs madness; he was also worried that she would continue speaking nonsense in front of Winnie.
Nate walked toward Winnie and said, âMy dear cousin-in-law, let me take you to find Mary.â
Yolanda chuckled at Nateâs address of Winnie as âcousin-in-law.â She jeered, âThe way you gaze at her suggests that you consider her as something more than just your cousin-in-law.â
Although Winnie wanted to stay out of the argument, she was left with no choice when Yolanda made her the cause of the dispute.
Furthermore, if what Yolanda described was accurate, Nateâs actions were extremely repulsive to her.
Winnie stopped in her tracks and uttered with a cold expression, âPlease donât drag me into your argument. I donât know either of you that well.â
âYes, thatâs right!â Yolanda responded sarcastically, âYou arenât close to anyone, but you always like to snatch things from others. You snatched the company from your own father, snatched Xavier from Yulissa, and now you want to take Nate away from me. Winnie Garland, I know youâre capable, but youâre utterly annoying and disgusting. One day, your things and the people you love will be taken away by others too!â
Winnie furrowed her brows and hissed, âIs there something wrong with you, Yolanda Xander? Or do you have a misunderstanding of what the word âsnatchâ means?â
