EVIE
âEvie, youâve already won everyone over,â Noah said, a smile playing on his lips.
I returned his smile. âEveryoneâs been so welcoming.â
âIâm thrilled youâre happy here,â Noah murmured, giving my hand a gentle squeeze. âWould you join me upstairs? Iâd love to spend some time with you,â he proposed.
I nodded, just as eager to be alone with Noah. My grin refused to fade.
We stepped into the elevator together. A familiar fluttering sensation filled my chest, reminding me of the anticipation I felt before our first date last week.
As we exited the elevator, I surprised Noah by pushing him against the wall next to my bedroom door. I pressed my lips to his, melting into his embrace. He was so incredibly perfect; I couldnât resist.
I surrendered to the desire that threatened to consume me, even if only for a fleeting moment. His laughter echoed through me as his hands roamed my body. He deepened the kiss, his thumb tracing a warm path against the bare skin of my hip, sending a wave of electricity coursing through me.
Eventually, Noah gently pulled away, gripping my forearms. âYouâre such a tease, little mate,â he growled, his olive eyes darkening, signaling Remiâs presence.
âCan I ask you something?â I asked, my fingertip tracing his cheek.
âAnything,â he responded without hesitation.
âI want to talk to Remi.â
Those six words were enough to trigger Noahâs transformation. His eyes swirled as the blackness overtook the green.
â~Mate~ wants to talk to me!â A voice, similar to Noahâs but slightly different, echoed from his body.
âHi, Remi.â I giggled as Remi nuzzled his face into my neck, inhaling deeply.
âMate smells so good,â he cooed, planting a kiss on my neck.
I shivered under his touch, yelping as he pushed me back against the wall, his lips eager on mine. I hesitated for a moment, grappling with the idea of kissing Noah but actually kissing Remi, before realizing they both felt and tasted the same.
I surrendered to the kiss, my fingers tangling in his hair. âRemi,â I said, attempting to pull away.
Remi purred at the sound of his name, releasing my lips. âI wanted to ask you something,â I said as Remi continued to shower my neck with kisses.
He looked up at me. âYes, mate?â
Noah was right. Remi was more primal than him. Even his voice and the way he spoke were less human. âAre you okay with being mated to a human?â I asked.
It was a question that had been nagging at me since my conversation with Kira and Molly. ~Was I good enough for a werewolf?~

âWe have the most perfect mate!â Remi responded, eager to reassure me.
I giggled as his breath tickled my neck. âOkay, good.â
After a few more minutes of talking and making out with Remi, I finally asked for Noah back. âWas that weird?â I asked him as soon as his eyes returned to their normal green.
âNo, was it weird for you?â he countered.
âUh, kind of. I was just worried that you would be jealous,â I admitted.
Noah chuckled. âRemi is me, Evie. Heâs the only person Iâm ~not~ jealous of.â
I shook my head, a smirk playing on my lips. âYou boys are too much.â I laughed.
Noah savored the sound. âIt feels so good to hear you talk about both of us so normally,â he confessed.
âAt this point, Iâve given up on the idea of normal and have decided to just wing it,â I told him, pecking his lips before moving away from the wall and into my new bedroom.
Noah followed me, flicking on the lights. The closet door was open, revealing my clothes neatly hung or folded on the shelves. I assumed my bathroom items had been arranged as well.
âWho did all this?â I asked Noah.
âMackâs your personal assistant,â Noah explained, his eyes meeting mine. âSheâs here to help with anything you needâgetting ready, answering questions, preparing food. Think of her as your personal host or tour guide.â He shrugged nonchalantly.
I sighed, shaking my head at him. âThat seems a bit much, Noah.â
âBut itâs tradition, Evie,â he replied, his tone serious. âBeing chosen as an assistant to a ranked memberâespecially the alpha or lunaâis a great honor.â
I found myself pacing around the bed, muttering under my breath, â~Giving up on normal, giving up on normalâ¦~â
From across the room, I could hear Noahâs laughter. âIâve got a few hours before my next meeting,â he said, his eyes twinkling with mischief. âWhat do you want to do?â
I laughed, playfully pushing his arm before flopping down on the bed. I patted the space next to me, and Noah joined me. We turned on the TV and snuggled into each other.
Before I knew it, I had drifted off, my head resting on Noahâs chest. I stirred, feeling Noahâs arms tighten around me. I couldnât see his face, so I wasnât sure if he was awake. His grip was firm, preventing me from sitting up.
âNoah?â I whispered, not wanting to disturb him if he was still asleep.
He groaned, shifting on the bed. I rolled onto my back, looking up at his perfect face. He was rubbing his eyes with one hand, yawning, while his other arm remained securely around my shoulders.
âGood morning, my little mate,â Noah murmured, a sleepy smile on his face.
I giggled in response. âI guess we both needed a nap,â I said.
Noah glanced at his watch. It was around four in the afternoon.
âDid you miss your meeting?â I asked, concern creeping into my voice.
âNo, itâs at four-thirty. I need to get going,â Noah groaned. He kissed the top of my head before rolling off the bed. âWill you be okay here for a bit? Iâm all yours after my meeting. You can join me in my office if you want,â he rambled.
âIâll stay here, Noah. I could use some time to myself to get settled in,â I reassured him, wanting him to relax and not worry about me.
Noah seemed to brighten at that. âThatâs a good idea. Check out the room and let me know if thereâs anything you want to change or add. Itâs completely up to you. Iâll have Mack check on you in a bit,â he said, giving me a quick kiss before leaving the room.
I watched him leave, shaking my head.
He could be so overbearing at times, but I found myself falling in love with it.
Or was it just that I was falling in love with him?
