Adam's pov
Period 2 just started and let me say Varsity was definitely not going easy on us. They were shoving us to the other side of the rink constantly and the ref said nothing.
"Come on, come on, try harder" Orion yelled.
Can't he see that we're trying? All of the sudden Averman got jammed into the face making him fall on the ground.
"Wow, Lester Averman just got levelled. He must be seeing stars"
Fulton and Dwayne both helped Averman get back to the box.
"Ah, it's so pretty up there" he said, smiling "Hey Coach!"
"Okay son, have a seat. Keep hitting they'll break" Coach said
I watched everyone flying left and right. This ain't hockey anymore. This is a new fight club on ice.
"Watch out, Ducks. They're head hunting, huh?" Coach said "Fulton, Goldberg. Change it up!"
"Orion sends out Fulton and their new defensive weapon, Goldberg. Huge save by Gaffney! She got caught out of the net but saved the puck just in the nick of time! Nice save, Julie the Cat!"
After a quick break Guy was thrown into the boards. We were all screaming at the ref to start saying something.
"Oh that is some bullshit!" Layla screamed from the stands and she wasn't the only one.
"Guy Germaine just took a vicious check into the boards. He's down and he's not getting up"
He was pulled out of the game and Connie was quick to comfort the boy. They are a cute couple. I hope me and Layla would have that some day.
"Conway on a break away! He is all alone!"
But again, no luck.
"Two periods done and still no score. You really gotta wonder how much longer the freshman can take this pounding"
Layla's pov
I watched the ducks go into the locker room. I wanted to do something that might be a little bit stupid.
"Hey Linda. I'll be right back" i said, getting up
"Wait where are you going?" she asked
"Doesn't matter. Wait here." i said, and walked away
Adam's pov
We all sat in the locker room with a frown on our faces. Guy was laying against Connie for support and Averman had an ice pack on his head.
"You're playing hard. I'm proud of you guys" Coach said
"They're cheap shooting us to death" Luis said
"I know they are. I know they are" Coach said walking out of the locker room.
"It's going to take a miracle for us to hold on" Averman said, getting the ice pack off his head and changing it for another one.
And like it was planned Dean walked through the doors.
"Dean Portman is awarded a full athletic and academic scholarship to Eden Hall Academy" he said "I had this lying around the house in Chicago. My attorney thought I should sign it. I agreed. It's official boys. I'm back!"
Fulton instantly ran to him and engulfed the boy in a hug.
"Ow and Adam" Dean said, making me look up "Someone waithing for you outside"
What?
I went out of the locker room and was met with Layla.
"Layla" I said "What are you doing here?"
She didn"t say anything she just walked up to me and kissed me. Layla kissed me. Obviously I kissed back. When she pulled back we just looked into each other's eyes.
"You're playing amasing out there Adam" she said
"Why did you kiss me?" I asked
"Because I'm still in love with you" she said, shocking me. "And I'm still waiting for my goal" i smiled at her and said
"I promised and I learnt not to break that"
"Go out there and kill them please" she said
"Alright I will" i said, still nailed to the ground
"Adam seriously go, there waiting for you" she said
"Right" i gave her a kiss on the head and went back in the lcoker room
"Who was outside?" Charlie asked
"No one" i said
"Can't be no one when you have lip gloss on your lips" Julie said. I touched my lips and there was strawberry flavored lip gloss on it.
"I could have sence for style" i said
"You could, but you don't" dammit Julie
"Alright Ducks time to get back out there" Orion said " Hello Dean, you're bigger than you used to be. You're taller than me"
"What can I say" Dean said and we all went back out there when Julie stopped me
"If you ever breack her heart again, I'm skating over your neck" she said
"Got it" damn that girl scares me
"Here we go into the third period of a well fought battle. Oh look, here comes the ducks! Hey, wait a second. Isn't that Dean Portman? Hey, it looks like the other bach brother is back, and he's brought the ducks a renewed spirit"
The audience went crazy seeing Dean and started applauding.
"Dean Portman hasn't skated for a while but he's known more for his enforcer skills"
We were about to begin when Dean skated to Cole. Which made Cole smirk.
"Oh, it's the other Bash Brother. Ooooooh. I'm really shakin' now" Cole said
Dean looked him up and down and said "So you're the big enforcer, huh? It's nice to meet you. You know, we got something in common-"
He was cut off by Cole "Shut up! Let's play hockey"
Dean didn't really care and just put his helmet on his head. "Whatever you say, sunshine"
"Gentlemen, let's have a good period of hockey" the ref said and dropped the puck on the ice.
"Let's see what you got, bash bro" Cole said and started skating full speed towards Dean.
Dean just shrugged and leaned down, making Cole flipping over his back, flying in the glass. He just laughed at Cole trying to get up. Fulton skated up to him. Looking at the damage his friend caused and laughed with it.
"Now that's cleaning the garbage" Fulton said
"Hey man, we're just getting warmed up"
Dean kept on pushing every player on the ice and stealing the puck which made us have more chances to score. Not only Dean but Fulton too.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the bash brothers are here to stay"
Fulton and Dean checked someone again. Damn they were killing it tonight.
"This is more like it. The ducks are finally starting to dish it out. Look at Fulton, Portman and ... Goldberg!? Oh, the bash brothers are really going to town"
Varsity got hold of the puck again but Dean was already skating behind the player. All of the sudden Rick fell making it look like Dean made the mistake. The referee blew the whistle. Oh now he's whistling.
"Come on man! Get up, I didn't even do anything!" Dean said, rolling his eyes
"21 white, two minutes, hooking" The ref said making the whole audience boo.
"Give me a break. I didn't do anything" Dean said
"Let's go son" he said, leading Dean to the penalty box.
"All right then, do you want to see a penalty? I'll show you a real penalty" Dean said
"Get outta my face, man. Ref, give me a break, that was a dive. What are you talking about? Oh please"
He went into the box and he instantly became happy seeing the crowd was on his side. He took off his shirt and started swinging it around.
"Shake it all up, baby" Goldberg yelled from the side "Hubba, hubba, hubba!"
"Charlie don't give up, man! They ain't that tough" Dean screamed. The crowd was going crazy.
This wasn't a game anymore but a circus, a circus on ice.
"Change it up!" Coach yelled but too many kids skated on the ice, oh no.
"Bench minor. Too many men on the ice!"
"All right, Luis!" Orion said "Luis back on the bench!" Kenny, go to the box!"
"Oh boy, this is bad folks. Ken Wu jumped off the bench too early and now the ducks will have to skate two men down"
"All right, time out' Coach yelled and everyone came back to him. "Come on, bring it in. Now listen to me. The pressure is all on them. All we gotta do is hold our ground. Okay, Conway and Banks"
"Make him make the first move, Conway" Coach said to Charlie.
"Conway and Riley, the two captains, are one on one"
"Come on, try and take me, try and take me, come on" Charlie said.
Just like the coach said when Rick made the first move Charlie flipped him on his back.
"That's what I'm talking about"
"Riley goes down and Conway has the puck with a chance to win it. Here he comes! A breakaway! Ten seconds left!"
I was skating with him making his path free.
"He beats two men. He's all alone He-" everyone went quiet when Charlie passed "He passed back to Adam?!"
"Come on, shoot Adam!" I heard Layla yell from the crowd.
I shot the puck in the net and everyone went quiet, but when the sirens went off signalling that i scored everyone erupted in cheers.
"Ducks win!"
The whole team jumped on me making a whole duck pile. When we got up I went and started looking for her.
"I'm right here, Cake Eater" I heard from behind me. I turned around and Layla was standing there. I went up to her and kissed her. Right there in front of everybody.
I wrapped my hands around her waist and our lips started moving in sync. When we pulled appart we just smiled and rested our foreheads against eachothers.
Charlie's pov
I watched Adam and Layla kiss when someone asked.
"Who's that?" Orion asked
"Layla" i said "I don't know but i think Adam finally found someone he loves more than hockey"
We were both looking at them when Linda came up behind me. She kissed me on the cheeck.
"You played amasing" she said
"Don't you think that desirves more than a kiss on the cheeck"
She just shook her head and she kissed me.
Rick's pov
I was skating off the ice when I saw: MINDY KISSING LUIS MENDOSA!? They pulled apart after seeing me.
"Sorry, our little secret" he said
That little-
Layla's pov
I just kissed Adam. My heart was going pitter patter. I just couldn't believe it.
"You don't know how happy I am that you're winning goal was for me" i said smiling
"I would do everything for you" he said
"Really?" he nodded
And that was the start when I knew that Adam was the one for me.
