We arrived at the party, the sound of music and laughter grew louder as me and my friends approached the entrance of Rick's house.

The neon lights outside flickered, casting a vibrant glow on the scene, while the bass from the music vibrated through the ground, signaling the energy inside.

I adjusted the strap of my top nervously but couldn't help the smile tugging at my lips. Connie and Julie, who were just as excited as I was, giggled and whispered to one another as they walked up the stairs, eager to dive into the night's festivities.

The moment they entered, the atmosphere enveloped them—people chatting, laughing, and dancing in every corner. The air was thick with excitement, and my heart raced with anticipation.

I scanned the room, feeling a mix of nervousness and exhilaration.

"I'm gonna say hi to the team alright" Adam said

"That's fine. I'll be out here with Julie and Connie" i said smiling at him. He gave me a kiss on the head and dissapeard in the crowd.

I tried looking for him but the girls were already pulling me toward the dance floor. I hesitated for a moment, then, with a deep breath, allowed myself to be swept into the music, my worries melting away.

The night had just begun, and it felt like anything was possible. I felt free, surrounded by the warmth of my friends and the buzz of the party.

The world seemed to pause for a moment as me and my friends laughed together, taking in the sights and sounds, ready to create unforgettable memories.

"I'm gonna grab a drink" i said out of breath "You guy's want anything"

"A water please" Connie said

"A fanta" Julie said

"Okay be right back" i said and left the dance floor

I was pouring the drinks in cups when someone approached me.

"You're gonna drink all of that?" someone asked. It was Lucas

"It's for my friends. Something you clearly have no experience with" i said and walked back to Connie and Julie who were also resting after dancing the whole time.

We we're talking and laughing the whole time.

"I'm gonna go look for Adam" I said

"Okay be safe you know" Connie said

"Ye you don't know what kind of jerks might be walking around here" Julie added

"Don't worry I'll be fine" i said and started looking around.

I started looking around between the dancing people. Which may I add, was not the easiest thing. They would not let you have any space.

As I stepped into the dimly lit living room, I froze, my heart sinking into my stomach.

There, on the couch, sat my boyfriend, laughing and kissing another girl, completely unaware of my presence. My breath caught in my throat as the reality of the moment hit me like a tidal wave.

I stood there, rooted to the spot, my hands trembling at my sides. The shock of it all made me dizzy, and for a moment, I couldn't find my voice. The room felt suffocating, as if everything around me was spinning out of control. My mind raced, replaying every moment I'd trusted him, every promise he'd made.

I blinked back the tears that threatened to fall, not knowing whether to confront them or walk away. The love I had once felt for him now felt like a distant memory, replaced by an overwhelming sense of betrayal.

My heart pounded in my chest as I took a step forward, the sound of my footsteps cutting through the silence. I couldn't hold it in anymore.

"What the hell is going on here?" my voice cracked as I spoke, a mix of anger and hurt seeping through. Adam and the girl jumped apart, their faces turning pale as realization dawned. For a long, tense moment, no one said anything.

My hands balled into fists at my sides as I locked eyes with him, my gaze burning with betrayal.

"Are you serious?" I asked, my voice steady now, though the pain behind it was undeniable.

"Are goddam serious?" He stammered, trying to explain himself, but I wasn't listening. The words seemed empty, meaningless. I had trusted him, believed in our relationship, and now everything felt like a lie.

"I gave you everything" I said, her voice trembling.

"And this is how you repay me?" Without waiting for an answer, I turned and walked towards the door, passing Julie and Connie. My heart shattered but my resolve grew stronger with each step. The life I had known him was over, and there was no turning back.

You said

As I reached the door, I heard hurried footsteps behind her. Before I could open it, his voice rang out, desperate.

"Layla, wait!" I froze, my hand was still on the doorknob, and slowly turned around. There he was, out of breath and with a look of panic on his face.

"Please, just let me explain," he begged, his eyes wide with regret. He took a step forward, his voice softening. "I messed up. I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you. Please... please don't leave like this."

My chest tightened as I looked at him, the tears I had been holding back threatening to spill. I shook my head, feeling a storm of emotions surge through me—anger, sadness, and confusion.

"You think you can just apologize and everything will be okay?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. He took another step closer, reaching out to me, but I quickly pulled back.

"I was there for you through everything, when the ducks hated you, when you had problems with your dad and this is how you repay me?" His face softened, his eyes filled with remorse.

"I made a terrible mistake. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I love you, Layla. Please don't walk away from me. Don't walk away from us." He stood there, his expression vulnerable, as if hoping I would see the sincerity in his words.

But I didn't know if I could ever trust him again. The silence stretched between us as I swallowed the lump in my throat. Finally, with a heavy heart, I whispered,

"I can't do this anymore." And without another word, I stepped out the door, leaving him standing there, still pleading, his apology lost in the air.

As I stepped into the cool night air, I heard his footsteps quickly following behind me, the sound of his voice desperate and frantic. Connie and Julie ran after him curious what the hell was going on.

"Layla, please!" He reached out and grabbed my arm, pulling me to a stop. I spun around to face him, my heart pounding as he looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Don't do this. I love you. I'm so sorry. I swear I'll do anything to make it right." His words tumbled out in a rush, his breath heavy from running after me. "You can't just walk away from me."

I pulled her arm out of his grasp, taking a step back, my face a mixture of hurt and frustration.

"How can you say that? How can you love me and do this?" The tears I had been holding back finally spilled over, my voice shaking with the weight of everything that had happened. "You've shattered my trust. You've shattered everything."

He stood there for a moment, his face torn with guilt, before he stepped closer again, his voice softening.

"I know I messed up. I know I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I'm asking for it. Please, don't leave me like this." He reached for my hand, his touch gentle but insistent. "I'll prove to you that I can be better. I'll spend every day making it right if you give me the chance."

I looked at him, my chest aching, torn between the love I had for him and the pain of his betrayal. I shook my head, my voice barely a whisper.

"I can't believe I'm saying this but Lucas was right" i said. He looked with tears in his eyes. "Now you've got on Varsity you've found a better girl who you cheated on me with" i said still crying "I don't know if I can ever trust you again." But I saw the raw desperation in his eyes, and despite myself, part of me wanted to believe him.

He took a deep breath and stepped closer, his words filled with determination. "I'll show you, Layla. I'll show you I can be the man you deserve. Please don't walk away from us." His eyes searched mine for any sign of hope, but I couldn't find the words. I simply turned, taking a deep breath, and walked away, leaving him standing in the cold night, the silence heavy between us.

When I got home I cried myself to sleep and didn't say a word to Julie when she came home.
