Toni's POV
"Mum, what are you doing here?" Serena asked her mum, I still couldn't believe she just showed up here after a year and a half of no contact no nothing.
"I wanted to see you, I missed you," she replied, that must of made her angry because she yelled "WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN YOU MISSED ME?", I squeezed Serena's hand, "MUM YOU LEFT ME TWO DAYS AFTER I GOT OUT OF HOSPITAL. YOU DIDN'T CONTACT ME FOR A YEAR AND A HALF, AND NOW YOU SHOW UP AT MY WEDDING SOMEHOW THINKING THAT I WOULDN'T REMEMBER THAT YOU LEFT," she took a breath and continued, "MUM YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH, JUST LEAVE I DON'T WANT YOU HERE," Serena turned around, I noticed she had been crying, she was shaking so much but started walking away without evening giving her mum a chance to reply.
"Serena wait," she chased after us grabbing onto Serena's arm and stopping her from walking. "Mum let me go," she's replied, "just let me explain where I went," Serena went to reply but I interrupted,
"I think you need to leave Mrs Jade," I said calmly,
"Who do you think you are telling me what to do?" Mrs Jade turned to me and grabbed my arm squeezing hard. "Take your hands off my wife, mum you left you don't have any say in my life, just leave I don't want to see you anymore. I don't care what you have to say," Serena said, Mrs Jade turned around and walked away. I pulled Serena into me, she was still shaking, I couldn't believe what just happened.
I held her close to me until she calmed down and stopped shaking.
"Come on baby let's go back to everyone," I said once she had calmed down, she smiled up at me. "Thanks baby for being here with me," she kissed me and pulled me back inside.
The rest of the night went smoothly, and by the time the party had ended my feet were killing me and Serena looked exhausted.
Once everyone left we went to our room and showered together then hopped into bed and fell asleep. I woke up in the middle of the night and felt Serena shaking and kept saying stuff which I couldn't work out. I shook her till she woke up, "baby girl it's okay," I soothed her pulling her into me. "I hate my mum," she said through her tears before she fell back asleep. It wasn't long before I fell back asleep too.
Serena's POV
I woke up to the smell of bacon, I turned around and saw Toni closing the door, she turned and faced me smiling when she saw I was awake.
"Good morning my gorgeous wife, how you feeling?" She asked me before giving me a kiss. "I'm alright I've got a headache," she looked concerned, "baby it's okay, let's eat,"
After we'd eaten I hopped in the shower and next thing I know Toni joined me. We haven't had sex in the whole time we'd been together. A month later
It was graduation day, I was so nervous. What if I tripped over on stage everyone would laugh at me. I went and had a shower still freaking out.
I walked downstairs to see my darling wife cooking me breakfast, she hadn't noticed me come up behind her because when I put my arms around her she jumped a little. "Baby you scared me," she said and turned around in my arms, "I'm sorry gorgeous I didn't mean to, you know you don't have to cook me breakfast everyday?" I asked laughing and walking to the table, "I know but my wife deserves it,"
"She's a lucky person then," I replied, "actually I believe I'm the lucky person," she put the plate of food on the table in front of me and as she began to walk away I pulled her back and sat her on my lap, I pulled her in and kissed her nose, then cheeks and then her lips, her soft lips that gave me butterflies even after nearly two years of dating. She cooks for me everyday, and makes sure I'm okay and happy. I think the fact that I had leukaemia didn't help much, but honestly I love her more than life and I'm so grateful for every little thing that she does for me.
We got a call from the doctor a week ago which freaked me out at first but he just told us that we didn't need to come in for anymore tests but if I felt sick to go back to the hospital straight away. I felt a massive weight lift off of my shoulders.
The hospital was my least favourite place and I was so glad I didn't have to worry about going there anymore.
When I got the call I was in class so I couldn't exactly answer it, I called back afterwards then went and saw Toni afterwards. She was so happy for me.
I went upstairs to get changed after I had breakfast I couldn't wait for this day to be over. I heard Toni in the shower so I took my time getting ready, and then went to the lounge room.
"Baby are you ready to go?" I called out looking at my phone.
"Yes I'll be there in a second," she called back, a few minutes later I heard her high heels clicking on the floor, she walked round the corner and my jaw dropped, how on earth is that my wife?
She was wearing this gorgeous red dress that clung to her body showing off her body, "what do you think baby?" She asked smirking, I just stood there drooling and didn't reply, "that's what I thought I'll go take it off," she said and walked away, I ran up to her and grabbed her, "I don't think so my precious, you look beautiful," she grinned and we went and hopped in her car.
Later on while I was waiting in the line ready to be called on stage I looked into the crowd and saw Toni's parents. I love them so much, and I'm so glad they're here. Next to them was all my friends, which shocked me because I hadn't spoken to any of them except Ayla since I saw them at school.
"Serena Jade," I heard my name get called out and realised this was my time, I walked over and shook the principals and he handed me my diploma. I look into the crowd because I could here cheering and all of my friends were standing there clapping and calling out my name, Toni's parents were standing and clapping too. I started crying as I walked off stage.
Toni's POV
We got to school early seeing as I had to be there an two hours before the graduation had started, I was so wrapped up in getting married that I didn't attend any of the meetings at school so I had no idea what was going on. Once we got there I said goodbye to Serena, she said she was going to read a book. I felt bad leaving her, she didn't have any friends this year since they all graduated last year.
One of the teachers gave me a run down of the day and what was going to happen.
I saw all of the parents and guests coming to sit down and saw all of Serena's friends I hope she doesn't get angry at me. I reached out to them in hopes they would come and they said yes. Of course she invited my parents, they loved her so much and are still so grateful to her.
I saw them and went over to them, "hi I'm so glad you're here, Serena will be happy you came," I hugged them. "We wouldn't of missed it for anything," my dad replied. "I have to go but I'll come see you afterwards," I said and left them.
The graduation finally started, after a while and endless talk from the principal, they started calling people on stage. Serena finally got called on stage and bloody hell did she look gorgeous, yes she was wearing a graduation gown but I saw what was underneath this morning. I was sitting at the very end closest to the stairs they walk down, staring at Serena I noticed she was crying as she walked off stage. I ran to catch up to her, hoping no one noticed I was gone.
I quickly caught up to her and grabbed her wrist spinning her around, "Serena are you okay?" I asked, she was still crying, but she pulled me into one of the buildings that was closest to us so we couldn't be seen.
"Baby," I said softly, I lifted her chin up to face me. "What's wrong? Why are you crying?"
"I'm just so happy, your parents are so supportive and I'm so grateful that they came today, and same with my friends, but I'm still so mad at my mum, I can't believe she just came back on our wedding day. But deep down I wish she was here watching me graduate," she sobbed, I pulled her into me and held her close. She stopped crying after a while, "we should go back so it doesn't look weird that you left!" She exclaimed, she let me go and I suddenly missed her touch. I pulled her back and kissed her, I felt her smile which made me smile. I pulled away and we walked back to watch the end of the graduation.
