Louise was Carrieâs flesh and blood, and Carrie panicked as well, looking hurriedly at Alan, who was still fuming.
âDad, Louise is just a kid. How about you let her off this time ... that Blanca is fine, right? Weâre all family. No need to make things so tense.â
âJust a kid? Isnât Blanca just a kid, too?â
Blanca had already heard the commotion. She had Matthew help her out of the bedroom and into the living room.
âGrandpa.â
âWhat are you doing outside, Blanca? Get back in there and rest.â
âIâm fine...â
âYouâre fine this time because you got lucky. What if you had no luck?â Alan looked at Louise again. âTake her inside, Johnson!â
Mr. Johnsonâs face was cold as he grabbed Louiseâs arm. âLetâs go, Miss Louise.â
After Louise was taken away, Blanca was surprised that Alan would punish his granddaughter so harshly. Sheâd just wanted to show Alan Louiseâs true face, and have him scold her a bit so sheâd wise up.
Now that Louise was being literally refrigerated, Blanca did feel it was sweet getting back at her, but she also knew that it was torture. She was about to ask Alan not to shut Louise in too long. It wouldnât do to actually kill her.
Sheâd just said the word âGrandpaâ when she was cut off.
âRest up, Blanca. No need to concern yourself with Louise. Sheâs gone too far this time. No matter what, I have to teach her a lesson, or she would only make bigger problems one day.â
With that, Alan patted Blanca on the shoulder.
Blanca opened her mouth, but Alan didnât give her a chance to make a case for Louise. He turned, walked outside, and stopped next to Matthew.
âTake care of her for these days, Matthew. If itâs not convenient for you to live here, you can go back to your place. Iâll have my doctor come in and check Blanca every day.â
âYes, Grandpa.â

It was completely frigid, and she took her hand back. They were swollen and red already, and her tears fell even harder.
âLouise, Louise, donât panic.â
Carrieâs worried voice came from outside. âHang in there. When your father gets back, Iâll persuade him to let you out as soon as possible.â
âItâs so cold in here, Mom. Get me out of here!â
Louiseâs sobs continued as Carrie sighed. Her precious daughter was the apple of her eye. Sheâd never suffered like this before, and as her mother, she wasnât happy either.
Recalling how Blanca back there had faked her sympathy as if she was going to plead Louiseâs case, Carrieâs rage was burning, and she muttered to herself, âDonât worry, Louise, Mommyâs going to chase that bitch out of the Grant family!â
Louise had been shut in there for an hour already. Carrie was getting frantic.
It was her flesh and blood, after all. If something really happened to her, what was she supposed to do?
âWilbert, the girl knows sheâs done wrong. Sheâs never been healthy, and if something happens to her, what am I supposed to do? Sheâs learned her lesson already. How about we go and plead with Dad to let her out?â
