Chapter 2103 How Ruthless
âShe probably does,â William answered in a grim tone. âIt was just last night that Danrique broke up
with her, and this morning, he has already announced his engagement to Hazel. Everything is
happening too fast!â
âReally?â Robin was filled with doubt. âI thought Mr. Lindberg has deep feelings for Ms. Felch. He did so
much for her previously, so why would he break up with her all of a sudden? Besides, if he really likes
Hazel, they would have already gotten together from the very beginning. Why did he only agree to it
now? Considering his character, is his hand being forced by the circumstances? Whatâs really going
on?â
âIâm afraid heâs trying to corner me.â Williamâs brows furrowed. âItâs obvious to him that Iâm using his
name to achieve my goals. Thatâs why he has struck back at me this way. To be honest, I canât deny
how ruthless his methods are!â
âI donât think he would go that far.â Robin still found it unbelievable. âIf Danrique noticed something, he
couldâve used some other way to stop us. Thereâs no need to sacrifice his relationship with Ms. Felch,
and to even marry Hazel? He doesnât strike me as someone whose decisions are driven by his
emotions.â
âI still donât know what he has hidden up his sleeve, but itâs certainly directed at me.â Williamâs brows
were still tightly knitted. âI have underestimated his decisiveness by assuming that I could strike before
he realized it. I was hoping to just apologize once the matter was resolved. It never crossed my mind
that he was one step ahead of meâhe was already investigating me when Francesca was in
Danontand and had formulated his countermeasures. And now, his plan has taken me by surprise.â
âDanrique is such a ruthless man,â Robin commented with a frown. âAll we did was just borrow his
influence, nothing more, but he counterattacks as if heâs going to kill us!â
âHe wouldnât be Danrique if he wasnât ruthless.â William let out a sigh. âBesides, I was the one who
offended him first, so I canât complain about him striking back at me.â
âWhat should we do now?â Robin looked at him anxiously. âAfter putting in so much effort and with
victory within our grasp, we canât just give up now, can we?â
âIâm working on it,â William responded with a grave expression. âDo you remember what I told you in
the morning?â
âI do.â Robin nodded repeatedly. âDonât worry. I know what to say. As for Ms. Felchââ
Before Robin could finish, a frantic knock was heard at the door. âYour Highness, Your Highness, Mr.
Faulkner is here.â
Stunned by the news, Robin gave William a nervous look. âWhy is Silas here now?â
âHis Majesty has probably sent him after reading the news.â Williamâs expression changed. âDanriqueâs
move is a truly decisive one. Just when we were cruising toward victory, his sudden maneuver derailed
our plan.â
âExactlyâ¦â Robin was filled with anxiety. âAccording to the original plan, His Majesty is due to visit our
castle to investigate the water source and arrest the ones responsible. Unfortunately, our planâ
previously on trackâhas now been thrown into disarray in a single day. Say, do you think His Majesty
will change his mind about pursuing the matter?â
âHe will not only let the poisoning incident slide but also start to doubt our intentions.â Williamâs eyes
narrowed. âIn fact, heâll begin to suspect that I framed those people and faked Francescaâs relationship
with Danrique just to leverage Danriqueâs name for my own objectives.â
âAre you sure?â Robinâs eyes widened in disbelief. âIf thatâs true, wouldnât our plan beââ
âThere wouldnât be much of a plan left,â William interrupted him. âI should be counting my blessings if
he didnât charge me with lying and scheming.â
âWhat should we do now?â Robin was stricken by panic.
âThe only thing we can do now is to hope.â William furrowed his brows. âWe have to hope that Danrique
and Francescaâs bond isnât strong enough to withstand this.â
