Chapter 1667 A Button For A Thief
âYou b*stard!â
âJuan, thereâs no need for you to deny so quickly. I have evidence proving the chip was stolen by you,â Steven retorted.
âEvidence? What evidence?â
Juan was insistent not to be fooled by his words.
I donât believe he has any evidence at all.
Steven didnât answer him but looked at Evan instead. âMr. Seet, if I have evidence to prove Juan stole my chip, shouldnât you return the chip to me and provide me with an explanation?â
An indescribable look flashed across Evanâs eyes. His gaze fixed on Steven, trying to discern his words. He sounds confident. It doesnât seem like heâs lying. Does he really have evidence?
However, Juan thought Steven was lying, so he stepped forward and asserted, âSure! Iâll give you an explanation if you have it, so show me your evidence!â
Steven glanced at Juan. âIâm speaking to Mr. Seet!â
Evan was stunned briefly. âAll right. If you do have evidence to prove Juan was the one who stole your chip, Iâll give you an explanation.â
With Evanâs confirmation, Steven slowly stretched his arm out with a fist.
âThe evidence is here.â
âWhat?â
When he had everyone focused on his fist, he slowly revealed the item in his palm.
âThis is the evidence!â
A button?
Evan quickly swept his gaze over Juanâs clothes.
He noticed a missing button on his sleeve.
âJuan, this button is yours. Itâs the exact same as the one youâre wearing right now. You dropped it earlier when you were stealing the chip.â
A few scenes flashed in Juanâs mind. It must be from my struggle with the last bodyguard. He must have yanked it from my sleeve when I wasnât paying attention.
I didnât even notice that.
How careless of me!
The corners of Stevenâs lips curled when he saw Juan fall into deep thoughts. He then turned to Evan.
âMr. Seet, now that I have solid evidence, please return the chip to me and provide me an explanation.â
A glint appeared in Evanâs eyes as he asked, âJuan, does the button belong to you?â
Juan paused. âNo. Itâs not mine.â
At that moment, Zayden and Joy paused at the threshold when they saw there were guests in the living room.
âWho are they? What are they talking about?â Zayden asked curiously.
With a solemn look on her face, Joy eavesdropped on the conversation in the living room.
Steven sneered, âItâs not yours? But your sleeve is clearly missing a button? And this button in my palm matches the one on your sleeve. So I know this is definitely yours.â
Steven spoke with confidence, while Juan denied it with his arms folded across his chest.
âMy button went missing a long time ago. How do I know that you didnât notice my missing button earlier in the afternoon, then come here again with a similar one to frame me?â
âYou!â
Steven couldnât manage a retort against Juanâs words.
âAre they talking about a button? Is that Juanâs?â Zayden asked.
Joyâs big, round eyes sparkled as she thought of an idea. She immediately dashed for the garage.
Zayden quickly followed behind her.
âUncle! Uncleâ¦â
âWhatâs wrong, Joy?â
âUncle, I have something I need from you.â
âWhat is it?â
While in the living room, a faint smile hung on Evanâs lips. âI think Juanâs words make sense. Youâre accusing him of stealing your chip with a mere button. Isnât that too rash?â
âMr. Seet, is this not enough? Itâs obvious from your attitude that youâre protecting your son. I have all the more reason to believe youâre the one who instructed your son to steal it!â
