Chapter 1638 To Or Not To Have A Second Child
Zayden widened his eyes and tried to reason with Joy. Evan could not help but burst into laughter. âAll right. You can sleep with me tonight.â
Nicole rubbed his head and said, âYou sound just like your daddy!â
âMe?â Davinâs loud voice suddenly caught everyoneâs attention.
He walked toward Evan and greeted him. Just when he was about to bend down to carry Zayden, Zayden took a step back and clung onto Evanâs thigh.
âHey, why are you avoiding me? Have you forgotten that Iâm your daddy?â
âWhy would you want to carry me since you donât like baby boys?â
âWhat are you talking about? What do you mean I donât like baby boys? Youâre my only son. Of course I love you!â
Zayden pointed at Joy and said, âYou like baby girls. I heard your conversation with Mommy that day. You all wanted another baby girl.â
Davin froze for a moment. âDonât you want an obedient and adorable little sister?â
âNo! I want a baby brother!â
âDavin, are you planning on having another child with Sheila?â Sophia was pleased to see the family grow.
Davin pulled Sophia aside and explained, âWe only said that to agitate him because he was throwing a tantrum the other day. It was just a threat.â
âDo you think itâs appropriate to threaten a child like this? Why donât you and Sheila try to get another child?â
âMom, I canât do this if Sheila disagrees with the idea, can I? Besides, Sheila is not young anymore. What if something bad happens during the pregnancy?â
Davin continued, âSallyâs pregnant, right? You can count on her to grow the Seet family. And thereâs also Juan! So please donât put the pressure on me anymore.â
Sophia took a glance at him. âSheila is not that old. Iâm sure she can still give birth if she wants to.â
âIf thatâs your wish, go ahead and persuade her. Iâm willing to give it a shot if sheâs keen.â
Sophia stared at him from the corner of her eye. âLet me think about it. I have to respect Sheilaâs decision too.â
âThatâs right, Mom. Look around you; you have so many grandchildren, and soon, youâll have great-grandchildren too. You should just let nature take its course and enjoy your life.â
âAre you saying that Iâm being a little too busybody?â A line formed between Sophiaâs brows.
âOh, no, no, no. What I meant was, you should enjoy life and the company of your children and grandchildren at your age!â
Sophia sighed. âI guess youâre right. Once Sally delivers the baby, your dad and I should not meddle in all your affairs anymore. We should spend the rest of our day taking care of the childrenâ¦â
After a short pause, Sophia shook her head. âNope. I canât just ignore Juan. Itâs time for him to get married anywayâ¦â
Davin let out a sigh. Give yourself a break, Mom!
Suddenly, Juan asked, âWhat would you like to eat for dinner, Uncle Davin?â
Davin paused for a moment and wondered, âAll this while I just ate whatever you all serve, and all of a sudden, you ask for my preference? Have I done something right to deserve this kind of treatment? Let me think about itâ¦â
Davin thought for a while and started telling Juan what he had in mind.
âHold on!â Juan stopped him. âI think you should tell the chef yourself, Uncle Davin. I canât remember all the names you mentioned. The chef might need an extra pair of hands, so please help!â
