Amanda's POV

"So if Sodium is to be electroplated, what metal do you think should be used based on reactivity?"

"Another reactive metal?" I ask unsure

"Likeee?"

"Potassium?" Oh God that better be right

Toke bangs the table in excitement

"Correct!!! Now why is it potassium and not calcium, it's also reactive you know" Toke smirks as if to test my confidence

I read this thing yesterday now I should remember

"Uhm cos potassium is the only metal higher than sodium in the reactivity series" I let out in a breath

Toke bangs her pen on the table earning looks from the entire library. She folds her arms as she leans back on her chair smirking

"You see? You're not a total disappointment" she flips her hair over her shoulder

I blush a little from her 'compliment' then she returns to her usual Stony expression. Toke and I have been in Sheffield's library since 8 o'clock on a very cold Friday morning for three hours since we both have the first half of Friday free from classes . I am very sure I look like I jumped off a moving train because this girl practically dragged me from the assembly, to my locker and then to the library not even allowing me to stop and greet some certain people. Toke on the other hand isn't even breaking a sweat, she has her loosened long, black and silky virgin hair packed in a low bun and a single big braid falling on her face with her edges neatly laid. Her perfect lips never lack moisture and today is not an exception, her lip gloss always glows but is never too much, how does she do it?? To top it up she has her school white shirt, skirt, tie, sleeveless cardigan and her blazer over it unbuttoned, someone define class!

"We have 10 days till tests, one correct answer doesn't ace your tests" Toke says, dampening the mood as usual. She continues

"It's not even about you failing, it's about MY reputation. Almost all the senior school teachers know about me tutoring you so if you flunk, I have failed"

Ouch that hurt

"I'll try my best" I mutter

"Your best?" She scoffs "your best is not a standard, you have to ace these tests, you WILL ace these tests"

Her voice comes out low and scary when she talks. For a moment I don't realize she's referring to me. Toke might mean well, but she really has a weird way of showing her love. I appreciate all the time she spends teaching me and for the first time, even though for a few seconds, she made me feel good about myself. Like I actually have some brain power

"That'll be all for today, if you have any questions studying during the weekend pretend you don't have my number and keep the question till Monday, T for thanks" she gets up dusting imaginary dust from her skirt. She picks her books

"You can only succeed if you give yourself the permission" she exits the library without waiting for a reply

"Goallllll" a part of the arena erupts in loud cheers for their team

When the bell was rang for extra curricular activities we were told to move to the football field if we didn't have any other engagements. Since the coach said we were starting officially on Monday I decided to go with the rest of the crowd. The SS2 students just scored an opening goal against the SS3 students, I am definitely rooting for my class but these SS2 students are really good! Their dumb class girls are busy hooting and screaming and their high pitched shrieks are really getting on my nerves.

Aidan and Noel are our team's top strikers but one thing they lack is harmony. They are obviously both good players but they are playing more like opponents than teammates, they probably have some outside beef. Nana is supposed to be leading the cheer squad for our class but their supposed 'cheer captain' is beside me in her cheer uniform mindlessly typing on her phone. The referee is the assistant sports prefect Justin and I can see him silently swearing anytime the SS3 students miss a shot

"Goallll" the entire SS2 team and supporters have made the arena go wild. Yomi, their right back just scored against our team. I could see our goal keeper Denola, Denaya's twin, sitting on the floor with sweat trickling down his neck. He didn't look tired, he looks pissed

"Half time" Justin blows the whistle and the players leave the field

Aidan's eyes pierce through the crowd searching for something, or someone. They land on me then he stops, why would he be looking at me? I trace his gaze and it is actually on Nana not me, she probably notices this too as she tears her eyes off the pitch where he's standing and drags me out of the crowd

"Let's go talk to the boys" she says as we run to their locker room

"Are you sure we are supposed to be here? They change here oh" I pause in our steps

"You've never seen a shirtless sweaty boy? There's no big deal" she pulls me forward into the room

And yes the room is filled with sweaty teenage boys arguing aggressively. I easily spot shirtless Aidan and Noel, they are the ones that look like they are about to get in a fight

"If you kept your head and eyes in the game and not somewhere else, we wouldn't have missed all those shots" Aidan spits at Noel

"See who's talking, you don't pass to me when I'm open just because of a childish beef you seem to hold is that my fault?" Noel replies

I look around for any sign of an adult anywhere before these boys start throwing blows at each other

"Don't you dare speak to me like that, I'm the captain of this freaking team and I can tell you to sit it out" Aidan pokes at Noel on his chest

"I can talk to you anyhow I like" Noel pushes Aidan's shoulder

Aidan's eyes look as they are about to spit fire, he holds Noel's jersey top

"BOYS!" Nana yells making the whole team look at us. Aidan releases Noel's shirt slowly and turns to the other side of the locker room avoiding eye contact

Nancy walks boldly to their middle

"We still have 45 minutes more to equalize and dominate that field but you guys lack cooperation"

They murmur in agreement with chips of 'Aidan and Noel' coming from most of the teams mouths

"You guys are going to win you know why? I can't let SS2 girls be dissing me because my class boys have embarrassed me on the field, do you understand?

Nobody replies, she crosses her arms

"Do you understand" she says firmer

"Yes ma" many of them chorus on a lighter mood

Nancy smiles contently and drags me back out with her, before we leave I notice Aidan is the only one whose mood still hasn't lightened. That guy definitely has anger issues

"So what are we gonna do now?" I ask as we walk along the lines of the field

"Well your job is to hold this phone and record me, imma show these guys how real cheering is done" she hands her phone over to me

We hear a faint noise of what sounds like, drums? The first people I see that make me almost drop the phone I'm holding are Erling and Eddy who appear to be dancing but not regular dancing, they are basically doing body bopping into the arena. The eyes of 200 students fly to the boys who obviously love being the centre of attention. Erling takes off his blazers and gives it to a junior girl to hold. He sends her a wink causing her to blush and squirm, how pathetic!

Eddy takes the whistle from his replacement then places the ball in the middle of the field. He has his sports wear on with a bandana tied on his head, he looks ruggedly good to say the least. Erling along with the rest of the band move beside the cheer squad and they were apparently playing the beat the cheerleaders were moving to, they probably planned it. Sneaky little children

The whistle is blown and the game starts. Nana and the girls are cheering and displaying in coordination, how flexible are these girls?

"Seems like the SS3 boys have got their head in the game! Where was this spirit in the first half?" The male commentator says through the mics

"The SS2 team is also not backing down they must be trying to keep a clean sheet with their rivals" the female commentator Espn says

Suddenly the ball is with Aidan, he is dribbling past the entire junior team defence, he passes it to Noel at his far right and the latter shoots it immediately without the keeper catching the movement of the ball with his eyes

"Goallllll" the two commentators and half the arena yell, the cheer squad does spins, twirls and some splits for them

The senior boys jump on Noel and they fall on each other as they celebrate in their sweaty bodies, boys can be so disgusting

Fifteen minutes later and the senior boys have gotten their second goal into the net, the crowd is hyper now. Even some of the senior students that left during first half out of disappointment have trooped into the arena. I don't think I've ever been more interested in football in my life

"And that's a corner for the seniors" the male commentator says

I think Aidan will take the kick but instead he nudges Noel to go for it. He steps behind the line, puts his hands on his hips like all these famous players do, waits for the sound of the whistle then crosses. Yomi from the junior team heads the ball, it goes up in the air then Aidan jumps to head it into the goal post. Unknown to him, the tall hefty defender also jumps at the same time causing a collision, it'd have been much better if it was their heads that even collided. The defender being a bigger person pushed Aidan causing him to fall and bang his head dangerously on the bottom corner of the bar

The crowd ran wild. Aidan was knocked unconscious and I could see from the corner of my eye, Erling running into the pitch with fear written all over him. Before a split second Nana is gone too and she is apprehensively jumping around the field and bumping her way through juniors. Without a warning, I dash after her to the aid of our unconscious classmate that will possibly get a concussion or something worse. The medics are nowhere to be found I guess they didn't expect any banging of heads into poles today

"Help me carry his legs you idiot!" Erling screams at one of the juniors as he tries to lift his best friend up. Everything is in a rush but I don't miss that stinging tear drop that threatens to fall on his cheeks as they rush him to he clinic. About six boys including; Erling, Eddy, Amir, that junior Erling screamed at and two other boys carried Aidan out of the scene. I could hear Nana screaming at some girls

"Where are his things? Didn't he give them to you?" I didn't even know if she was talking about her cousin or the unconscious boy

The crowd has lessened leaving Eddy, Erling, Nancy, I and the patient in the clinic room sleeping. He has a bandage wrapped around his head and a dozen of painkillers have already been ingested. The nurse says he doesn't have a concussion or any internal bleedings which kind of made everyone sigh in relief. He told us not to call his parents that they would never pick up and true enough, Nana called and none of them picked up so his driver will be coming to pick him instead

"Okay guys take care, my ride is here so I've got to go" Eddy says as he pats Erling's shoulder slightly and does a curt wave to Nana and I

I give him a tight smile then wave back. When he leaves, the room is back to it's usual tense silence and it feels like I can hear my own heartbeat. Nana checks her phone

"His driver is here, I think we should wake him up" she says in a whisper

Erling taps him gently, he opens his eyes squinting as if the light is too bright. He looks at Nana and smirks

"Pretty girl, you're still here" his smirk widens as Nana scoffs at his cockiness

"You have a bandage wrapped over your head and all you can think about is woman" Erling says shaking his head

Aidan laughs slightly clutching his head in the process as he may have hurt himself from smiling to wide. I receive a text from my mum that she's outside the school so I make for the door with Nana behind me

"I have a party after exams, both of you have to come" Aidan says sitting up looking at both of us. I nod while he and Nana hold eye contact for a second then we exit the building
