Each time we arrived in a city, there was one thing we must do first.
Meals!
âI want to eat something delicious!â
Once I got to the inn, I yelled. My stomach was full, but I felt like I could still enjoy anything. One must understand that about me.
In an ordinary village with a small inn, it was difficult to find restaurants. That was the very reason I chose to visit the cities. After all, if there were nothing to eat, the trip would lose its purpose!
Agrigient was said to the best place for food, but all I wanted was to try out the gourmet dishes of other cities.
Not all food suited to my taste. In particular, the food of the north was crispy; everything had a crisp in it. I wasnât sure what I was even having. No matter how great a continent was, with a divine barrier like that, I thought their food would excel in all spheres, but that was a mistake on my part. It didnât really excite me that much.
Still, their bread and staple dishes were as savory as ever, and that was all that mattered to me.
Most importantly, the ungreasy meat was a work of art! Honestly, I felt blessed to eat it.
âRight, letâs eat. What should we eat?â
âMeat!â
At my answer, Valer scrunched his nose and snapped back at me.
âRia, arenât you gaining weight these days?â
âDo you want to go back?â
This man really didnât know when to stop.
Once our familiar banter ended, Valer frowned. It was an expression that showed his exasperation.
âMeat again? Letâs eat something delicious instead.â
âRight, meat is a delicious food!â
âMeat is delicious, doesnât he know that?â
As long as the Korean inside me grew rampant, there was no way I would admit that anything else would beat the majestic meat.
âDelicious food meant meat! Meat is the very best!â
âAnd the best among them is chicken! Chicken is awesome! Thatâs the known truth.â
âWhat is so delicious about meat?â
âMeat is always delicious!â
I was trying to spread the greatness of meat, but Valer kept on clicking his tongue.
âRight, even the baked ones are good.â
âNo, different! That is a different thing!â
Itâs different! The seasoning on it, the fire, the time it was cooked, or even the recipe itself, meat can be used in thousands of different ways! Every difference brings changes in its flesh and texture!
I was in deep thought.
I was feeling bad for Valer who didnât know the beauty of meat!
When I looked at Valer, he laughed.
âWhat, why!? Why are you laughing!?â
âYou like meat so much, right?â
âYes!â
âFine, meat is delicious.â
He wasnât just saying that; he really meant it.
Valer shrugged as I held back on my instinct to hit him.
He was a rotten guy; there was no reason for him to change sides.
That was when I realized that he was only trying to pull my leg, but I missed the cue to hit back at him. After staring at Valer, I spoke about the stories I heard earlier.
âThe lamb skewers here are delicious. What was it, Sasilik? Letâs go eat there.â
âCan you move on your own, or should we lift you?â
âAh, Iâll really kill you.â
As I wore the robe, I yelled at Valer who was chuckling.
I kept on putting up with him, but there was a limit to how much I could take.
Even with my violent appearance, Assisi didnât seem shocked, but Havelâs attendants were different.
Oops, my image!
Oh, I didnât care anymore! Iâd hit him first and deal with the consequences later.
We usually went outside to eat, and I was eating a lot more than usual, but since I moved around a lot, I never gained weight!
âWhy did you hit me? I was just worried about your health!â
âIf you die in my hands, you wonât have anything to be worried about.â
âT-that isnât your honest feeling, right!? Huh, Ria?â
He didnât stop talking, so I kept hitting him.
After a while, I got tired and fell down.
Ugh, even hitting someone was becoming tedious.
As I fell, Valer smiled, fixing his messed up clothes.
âItâs alright. Ria is pretty even when you gain weight.â
That bastard, in the end, he was still gung-ho on that weight bullshit!
Kicking him for the last time, I turned over to Assisi. I couldnât believe that bastardsâ words.
âAssisi, did I gain weight?â
â⦠I donât know.â
Assisi turned his gaze away after seriously thinking about my question.
The reaction he gave had concerned me more. Why was he avoiding to answer? Why? Why turn your head?
I couldnât believe it. This couldnât be true.
Next, I turned to Havel who was watching us. I hadnât spoken to him for a while, but he was the only person I could ask.
âHey, Havel, have I gained weight?â
âNope.â
Light answer.
It didnât hold any emotion. I felt a lot more sadder than the time Assisi turned away.
As my face darkened, Havel asked.
âWhat is it?â
I looked down at my arms and replied.
âNothing, for some reason, after hearing Havelâs answer, I feel like I really did put on weight.â
ââ¦â
