Noble's Arena :
"Begin!"
"Shield"
Aria quickly waved her hand and a blue barrier started covering her
'it worked!'
Aria has been training in doing simple spells such as this one with just some short phrases or words. She wanted to save this for last, but now she was battling Shin. There was no other choice.
Shin quickly used his aura and shaped it into something similar to spears, ready to attack
'to think she can use spells that fast' Shin praised her
Shin sprinted towards Aria, and using his spear-shaped aura, attempted to break the barrier
Bang!
A large crack appeared
Aria, "Spirit of Irin lend me your fire to attack my foes!"
Before Shin managed to break the barrier, he started feeling heat coming from above
"!"
Numerous fireballs were going towards his direction
"This...did I do all of this?"
Aria asked herself in surprise
That spell wasn't meant to summon this many
"Fuck!" Shin cursed
Although he had his own shield, he could still feel the intense heat. This wasn't an ordinary spell.
Using his aura to cover himself in a layer of defense, he ran around the battlefield trying to evade all the fireballs coming at him.
No matter which direction he went in, they would follow. And eventually, Shin got hit.
1 hit.
"I hit him!" Aria said as she smiled
'This must be one of the more harder spells' Shin thought
'it's only 1 hit'
When he turned back to Aria, she seemed to be preoccupied with controlling this spell
'I have to close this distance'
While evading the blasts, he planned on counter-attacking
"Lend me your power, Asil"
He never planned on using Asil this early.
Cold air started seeping in the battlefield, even the people watching felt a chill.
"So cold!" Someone commented
Many were curious on how the battle was going, but nobody could see how Shin or Aria was doing.
The smoke from the blasts blocked the view.
Shin's sword was now covered in frost, and his aura seemed to have become more aggressive
He raised his sword and slashed at an incoming blast.
Crack!
The blast had turned into ice and shattered.
He ran around the battlefield once again, but this time destroying the fire.
It was his time to attack
"W-what is this power...?"
Although they were childhood friends, Shin had never shown her this attack. Not once.
After a few seconds, all Aria's blasts were gone.
Only a chill in the air was left.
"Strike lightning until darkness is all that's left!" Aria chanted
Lightning started to form above them.
Shin managed to close their distance and ordered his aura to strike Aria.
Aria's barrier was immediately destroyed leaving her defenseless.
Shin lunged at Aria, stabbing her in the stomach
"-ack!" She felt the chill surrounding her
1 hit.
"Sorry" Shin tried controlling his power when he was attacking, but it seemed that it was too strong.
He froze Aria in place and used his spear-shaped aura again to stab Aria
2 hits.
3 hits.
Shin temporarily used his powers to create a barrier to block the lightning
'I need to hurry up'
He couldn't use Asil that well yet. He would've used it in the previous battles if it was easy.
'Alex and Ren wouldn't have almost died if I had control'
"You're so unfair sometimes!" Aria said gritting her teeth
He just smiled
When he was about to attack again, Asil alerted him.
His shield was broken.
"What the-"
Before he could respond, lightning strikes came straight at him
2 hits.
3 hits.
He coughed up blood in the process. It was the backlash of using Asil.
"...what?"
"Shin?! why are you bleeding?" She didn't make her lightning that strong
'My shield should've blocked that...'
'something's not right' he thought
Just when Shin was about to retreat, he heard a gun fire.
But it wasn't aimed at him. Instead, it blocked an attack from behind.
"-What the hell is going on"
More gunshots were heard, but no one could see what was happening with all the smoke. They could only wait.
He didn't have any time to lose, quickly finishing what he started.
4 hits.
5 hits.
"Shin Lotriare has won!" An instructor announced
Shin unfreezes Aria and helps her up
"...Aria, did you notice something off during your battles?"
He asked while walking back to their place
"All of the battles ended quickly so I'm not sure" She had a sense of foreboding
Shin realized that Aria was uncomfortable, and softened a bit.
"You did great today, Aria" he smiled
"Haha thanks, too bad I lost. Maybe next time then?"
"Sure, next time. I'll go clean up, you should rest too"
"Are you okay? I can heal you if you want..."
"This is nothing, and you used up your mana"
'it wouldn't have an effect anyways. This is the effect of Asil'
Although Aria was a bit reluctant in letting Shin go without healing him, they went their separate ways.
After washing up, Shin made his back back. He was deep in his thoughts which resulted in paying no attention to the sorroundings.
While walking down the hallway, a figure appeared in front of him.
"!"
Shin was surprised, but then calmed down after seeing who it was
"Don't scare me like that Ren, I'm busy"
"Master Shin, please pay more attention to your sorroundings. What if it wasn't me?" Ren said, irritated
'even using Asil when you know the risks. Stupid bastard' he thought
Ren handed the dagger he borrowed back to Shin
"Thank you for this Master. Also, I won"
Shin, "Congratulations. The finals are next so I'm going now" Shin wasn't in the mood right now
Ren, "Don't use that power too much. Or you'll end up losing a ton of blood"
Shin, "And how would you know?"
Ren, "From your fight with Miss Aria"
When Shin was starting to leave, Ren followed him and added
"Be careful of Sir Glen master. Make sure you can defend yourself"
When Ren said this, Shin remembered something from the battle
"Were you the one who blocked that attack?"
"I may not be able to help much, but if something goes wrong, I'll help you"
"And why would you?" This servant of his has been appearing during battles, and saving him. It's suspicious.
"Because you're my master"
...
No one spoke again after that, but the silence wasn't awkward for once. They both had some stuff on their mind.
As they were close the bleachers, Ren disappeared again
"Good luck Master Shin"
"I'll win"
"Just don't die, please"
'Or I'll die as well ｡:ï¾(;'â©';)ï¾:｡'
Ren went in an area close to the battlefield with no people, getting ready for when things go wrong
" I'd be fucking surprised if nothing goes wrong"
