"Come straight here tomorrow" Vern ordered
Ren was glad to have Vern teach him. The way he taught and made notes was so easy to understand. He only gave Ren the minimum to be able to pass.
'I can actually remember it more... Is this the effect of increasing mana?'

Ren couldn't believe Alex was here and was sticking to Shin. He was very irritated about that. After all his efforts to break them.

"Where were you earlier that you neglected your duties?" Shin asked while Ren was opening the door to the carriage
Aria went home with her study group so they were alone inside
"I'm sorry Master Shin, the teacher called me because of finals..."

But Ren heard it and was a bit surprised

Dinner was normal as always, and Ren decided to review what he learned at night

When the three arrived at school, it was still a bit early.
Aria said goodbye to go to her study group
Shin was also relieved that Alex hasn't arrived yet and decide to go to the library.
For 2 weeks, everyone will mostly be self studying and only ask for the teacher when they encounter problems.
Ren thought to himself, 'okay, this is great. Sherry Birnette should have arrived as well'

After a while, Shin could not take it and turned to face Ren who seemed distracted
"...why are you following me?"
"The teacher told me to study in the library too. Come on let's go before your Alex comes"
Shin had no time to remark on his casual tone because of that sentence
When they entered, Ren asked
"Ah~ isn't she that girl from the bookstore before? Oh, she saw you too"

Ren pushed Shin in the girl's direction and just said
"She seems to be smart Master Shin, you should study together. Miss Aria's busy too and you don't want Alex to see you."
'does he have a grudge on Alex??' Shin wondered, since Ren is usually polite
"Ah- my teacher's here so..."
When he was in the middle of escaping he suddenly turned back and bowed to Sherry
She seemed a little flustered
"Please help Master Shin, thank you in advance Miss"
"Ren, hurry up! You have a whole stack to study today"

In the end he just sighed and turned to Sherry with a smile

The decided to sit across each other and started to study
They were both silent.
After a while, Sherry glanced at Shin and saw that ge was struggling with something

She demonstrated how

"I just read it in a book once..." She said blushing
"We aren't strangers, so you should call me Shin"

It was a bit awkward at first but they slowly started to get along. They didn't realize it was lunch time until Ren reminded them.
"I'll hurry back after I accompany them Sir Vern"
"Alright"
Ren and Vern started to get along quite well too. He was truly grateful.
Whike walking to the cafeteria, Ren asked
"Master Shin, how are your studies going?"
"Shouldn't you worry about yours first?"
"I'm learning a lot!"
"Ren" Shin called
Ren was surprised, Shin doesn't really say his name often.
"Yes master"
"Why do you want to pass?"
"Ah, is that Alex?"
After hearing that, Shin swiftly changed directions with Sherry
'so persistent' Ren thought while being amused
After accompanying them, Ren quickly went back to the library
Sherry, "Shin?"
"Yes?"
"... nevermind"
Shin was a bit confused but decided to ignore it
"Thanks again for helping me"
"It's no problem at all!"
"Let's do this again, I sort of need help with some other lessons as well if you don't mind haha"
"Not at all!"
"Is your master here"
"Ah, she's in a study group. She's very kind to let me focus on my studies..."
"Shin!" A familiar annoying voice called out
"O-oh Alex...hello" Shin stiffly smiled
Alex's smile faded when she saw another girl sitting across Shin
"Who are you?"
"I-I'm Sherry Birnette..."
"Why's a lowly servant like you hanging out with Shin?"

"Alex!" Shin was already quite annoyed
Alex was shocked at his tone
"Don't drag my friends into this." He said coldy while grabbing Sherry's hand with their lunch.
"Don't mind her, she's quite annoying"

After eating lunch, they started studying again.

Meanwhile Shin and Sherry had a good time, Ren was studying in hell mode.
Vern looked at his student who was suffering but still persisting
He only sighed and patted Ren's head
"Sir Vern?"
"Keep up the good work"
"Thank you!"
Ren didn't seem to hate headpats and instead asked for more
Vern just sighed again after seeing how persistent Ren was
"If you manage to remember these everyday, then that's you reward"
"Alright I can do this!"

This went on for a week and almost a half.
Half a week ago, Wolford visited Ren as promised, but before Wolford could even enter he begged to never come back or to just visit after 2 weeks so he could focus

Sherry and Shin started being closer, Ren also started to see Vern as an older sibling, and Alex was still persistent with Shin but didn't dare to insult Sherry again.
Shin also still asked on why Ren wanted to pass so badly and study so hard that he looked like a Zombie.
During one lunch break, Sherry decided to tell Shin something, and she looked a bit timid to say it
