Back at the castle.
Yin Shaojie and Mu Xiaoxiao went back to their room to take a shower.
Chris returned to his study. He was about to close the door when someone blocked it.
Nimo walked into the room casually as though it were his own room and he even toyed with the knick-knacks on the worktable. Grinning, he looked at Chris and said, âI saw all of that.â
âWhat did you see?â Chris acted as if nothing had happened. Taking off his coat elegantly, he hung it onto a hanger.
âI was hiding and watching you when you were eating at that little restaurant. How shocking that you would actually dine at such a place. Itâs my first time seeing that since Iâve known you.â
He had seen Chris following Mu Xiaoxiao and Yin Shaojie into the old, rundown restaurant when he rushed over. He had been surprised to see Chris with them, of all people.
Because he found it interesting, he didnât reveal himself to observe them, wanting to see what Chris would do.
He saw the entire incident involving the bald man.
Chris ignored him and sat down on an authentic leather seat.
Nimo leaned his arms onto the table and moved his face closer. âI thought you had done something when you were playing with your phone, so I called Abbo just to ask about it. Iâd never imagined this!â
To show his surprise, he slapped the table.
The sharp noise made Chris frown. âWhat are you trying to say?â
Nimo smiled slyly as he pointed at him. âI know that you were the one who called the inspectors. Donât tell me that you extended a helping hand because you pitied the rundown restaurantâs owners.â
âOh? Canât I be philanthropic occasionally?â Chris smiled as he looked up and met his gaze.
Nimo looked like he had heard something impossible and put on an exaggerated expression. âYou? Stop pulling my leg. Since when does the word âsympathyâ exist in your dictionary? Do you even know how to spell it?â
He couldnât really say that he understood Chris completely even though he had known him for so many years. Chris had too much depth and no one could really see through him. However, he was certain about one thing and it was that Chris had no sympathy in him.
Thus, when Nimo saw what had happened earlier, his jaw dropped.
If Annie were there, Nimo would have understood Chrisâs actions. But she hadnât been there.
Chris leaned back in his seat comfortably and smirked. Shrugging his shoulders at Nimo, he said, âWhat do you want me to say, then?â
Nimo placed his palms down onto the table and stared at him. âI just want to know why you interfered at the cafeteria. This isnât like you at all. Who made youâ¦â
Chris smiled and looked at him. âWhat if I said it was for Mu Xiaoxiao?â
âFor⦠her?â Nimo looked stunned. He couldnât help but wonder if this meant that Chris knew Mu Xiaoxiaoâs real identity.
Chris nodded and said, âYou could say that when I saw her expression⦠I suddenly felt like doing it.â
