325 | Wonât Eat Him Alive âEmily, Emily, wake up!â Ryan kept calling Emilyâs name the whole way. He tried his best to run, and it was almost dawn when he dashed to the hospital.
âTwenty minutes ago, she was stabbed in the left side of her abdomen,â Ryan told the doctor in a hurry.
The doctors took Emily into the operation room after they heard Ryan precisely detailed about the knife and her condition.
Ryan then sat motionless in the doorway for two hours, waiting. Shortly before 9:00 a.m, Anna arrived at the hospital.
When she awoke in the morning, she had a small talk with Peter and learned that Richard had been arrested by the police. She knew something had happened at the warehouse after hearing the news.
Wayne had gone to the group in the morning to discuss the situation. When Anna called him and asked aboutit, she discovered that he and Ryan had planned the whole thing.
She was enraged and yelled at Wayne, âRyan is still a kid! Why on earth did you do stupid things with him? Itâs dangerous! Why donât you leave it to the cops?â
Wayne did not respond while she was speaking. Finally, he said, âOkay, after | finish this, Iâll go to the hospital. You can go there first. Heâs not hurt, but someone from one of his groups is.â
When Anna arrived at the hospital and learned that Emily had been stabbed when defending Ryan, she became even more enraged. She yelled angrily, âAre you and Wayne both fools, Ryan? Ryan lowered his head without saying anything. Anna pinched his arm and said, âYou and Wayne are exactly the same! You start playing dumb when you do something wrong. Say something!â
Seeing that he was stil silent, Anna slammed Ryan with her purse and asked, âWhat are you still doing here? Get Emily some food.â
âYes, Iâll go immediately,â Ryan responded, snapping back to attention.
Anna groaned, resigned, as she noticed his scared expression. She assumed she knew Ryan well enough to know that he was typically a logical and sensible individual. He was only nineteen, but he was more mature than his peers.
However, Anna couldnât figure out why Ryan couldnât manage his relationships with women. He hadnât eaten all night and had also forgotten to get Emily something to eat. Anna shook her head, thinking, Ryan, you shouldâve at least got Emily something to eat.
Emilyâs surgery had been completed by the time she arrived at the hospital. Anna wasnât rushing to go to the ward; she even bought a bouquet of flowers from the store downstairs.
When Anna walked into the ward, Emily was reading a magazine.
âHello! | know you, youâre Ryanâs sister,â Emily greeted Anna as she looked up.
Anna smiled as she placed the flowers on the bed and said, âIâm Anna, and Iâm here to visit you. You must be hungry, arenât you?
Iâve already asked Wayne to buy you some food. Heâll be here soon.â
âOkay, thanks for coming to see me, Anna,â Emily said after a brief pause. â325 | Wonât Eat Him Alive adh âYouâre welcome. Your name is Emily, isnât it? | heard that you were injured when trying to save Ryan.â
Emily shook her head, then said thoughtlully, âThatâs part of my responsibility. | was his commander in this exercise, thus | was responsible for his safety.â
Anna raised an eyebrow, then asked, âOh? Is that true? It seems | misunderstood you guys. Earlier, my friend asked me to set him up ona blind date, but | declined since | assumed you two were in a relationship. Iâll phone my friend later and ask her to set up a blind date for Ryan.â
Hearing that, Emily sprang up from her bed in a panic. Anna grabbed her by the shoulders and yelled, âNo! Donât move! Your wound has not healed yet.â
Emily said anxiously, âNo! Donât do that! â
Anna teasingly chuckled, âOh? Why?â
Emily blushed immediately and responded honestly, âBecause | like him.â
Ryan opened the door just as Emily finished speaking. He came in holding a bag of cakes and didnât appear to hear what they were saying. âWhat did you just say? You like what?â he asked as he set the bag on the bed.
Emily bit her lower lip and looked at him for a few seconds before saying, âYou.â
Ryan froze and then remained still for a long time.
âRyan, why donât you respond Emily?â Anna thought they were amusing.
Ryan didnât move as if he was frozen, and it took a long time for him to stand up straight. He shifted the topic and said, âAh, |
forgot to buy coffee. 325 | Wonât Eat Him Alive al Iâm on my way.â
Emily shouted at his back, âStop playing dumb, you already know | like you! Otherwise, | wouldnât have saved your life!â
Emilyâs voice was so loud that she didnât sound like sheâd been stabbed and got six stitches.
Anna understood why Ryan described Emily as tough. She thought about them and figured they were built for each other; Ryan was brilliant but terrible at sports. Emily was a natural fighter, but she was also incredibly naive. The differences between them allowed them to make an adorable couple.
Emily then grumbled, âWhy is he running away? Itâs not like Iâm going to eat him alive. Stupid Ryan! â
âYou did just seem like you were going to eat him alive,â Anna chuckled, then gave Emily a thumbs up and continued, âbut you did a terrific job.â
Emily didnât appear to be in a good mood. She sighed and said, âBut, he doesnât like me at all. Anna, what kind of girl does Ryan like, anyway?â
Anna sat silent for a moment before recalling what Ryan had said. Her eyes brightened up as she remembered the talk they had had in the cafe. She said, â| know! He once told me something about that!â
âReally? Come on, tell me.â
Anna couldnât recall what they had said, but she remembered Ryanâs last words because they were so unbelievable. âHe said he loved girls who are like his mother,â she said firmly.
Emilyâs eyes widened in surprise, and she stammered, âWhat? Ah!
His... his mother? | wasnât expecting him to have an Oedipus complex. Isnât that a little nerverted? â
