Chapter 34: Soulmate [Wednesday x Male Reader]

Wednesday (One Shots and Imagines)Words: 14563

Y/N came from a long line of empaths- while many believe and mistake them for mind readers, but they are wrong. People capable of telekinetic empathy hold the ability to detect the emotions around them to a single neuron. They can tell when someone is depressed, anxious, upset, joyous, ecstatic- Y/N could see it all. There were hundreds of empaths around the world but Y/N's family was especially special. It was in the genetic tradition of sorts in Y/N's family for, when the time comes, each member gains a large scar up their arm when they met their soulmate. The scar itself much resembled that of a forks of lightning- almost as if said person had been struck by it- lovestruck if you will.

It was an occurrence that had been around for hundreds of years and none of his family really knew why. While some would travel the world looking for their soulmate, others would just settle for whoever came their way, much like how Y/N's near family had done.

At first, he didn't believe in such a thing- something so ridiculous. He'd never seen such a mark on any one of his family members- the only evidence that he had that the whole thing wasn't just some ruse made up by a distant ancestor was an ancient family heirloom- a leather bound book which spoke of the condition as well as many spells and recipe's, which dated back to when the family resided in South Armenia during the sixteenth century.

Besides the manky old book, Y/N had no evidence to believe that being lovestruck was ever a real occurrence- until his first day attending Nevermore where after meeting a short pigtailed girl, he felt a sharp pain run up his left arm. He had been lovestruck- the ravine like scars, they aching pains when he wasn't around her- they were tell-tale signs that thy myth was more than just that. And he'd truly never been more annoyed. After being kicked out of his previous school for removing a classmate's ear, he was sent to Nevermore. Of course, he wasn't best pleased by this- Nevermore was a place where he would be placed at the bottom of the food chain, being a newcomer and all. He fought his parents decision on the idea but ultimately he lost- with his mother assuring Y/N that he would 'finaly be with his own kind'. He really couldn't bare his mother. That was when he had a run-in with that insufferable, self-centred girl, Wednesday Addams. At least his soulmate was pretty- although that wasn't enough to convince him that she was in any way worth his time.

In their first interaction, she belittled him- pointing out that his bottony skills were lacking, the exact moment he felt that electric sting run up his arm. In their second meeting, Y/N bested her in a fencing duel and belittled her for her sloppy footwork. Days turned into weeks and weeks grew long and lonely as Y/N found that his heart's urges contradicted his stubborn mind's beliefs. While it seemed that every tendon in his body wanted to run to Wednesday- he still refused. He couldn't be so weak. He tried his best to ignore the wistful yearning for the girl's touch and presence but the nights alone became painful- his arm throbbed and ached as he hugged his pillow close. Y/N went day's without sleep and the only time he found peace was when he was sat besides the raven haired girl in botany class. This was not ideal.

After the sixth night without sleep, Y/N was barely able to get out of bed and dress himself- never mind take a shower or brush his teeth. He chucked what he believed he needed for the day into his backpack and headed down to the greenhouse ready for the first lesson of the day. He was early, the first person there. He sat down at his usual seat and rested his forehead down on the cold table in front of him while he cradled his left arm which was still pulsing with an aching pain. The pain was unbearable now- he had tried taking painkillers but they didn't make any difference. The only thing that did was the nearing of Wednesday Addams- who, unlike usual was tardy to class, arriving five minuets late while the class was already getting started on the days work.

Everyone's heads turned at the sound of the heavy greenhouse door being pulled open and eyes lingered on Wednesday. Her face remained as stony as ever- not faltering under the pressure of everyone's stare. One by one, everyone looked away- everyone besides Y/N, who tracked Wednesday all the way until she took her seat beside him. He could feel she was annoyed- in fact he could tell she had been in an argument- one she strongly felt she was on the right side of. it was the likely cause of her tardiness.

"What are you looking at?" Wednesday hissed quietly as she avoided his stare, careful not to make a scene in front of their classmates. She grabbed her notebook out of her bag along side a couple of pens which she sat down on her half of the desk while she adjusted her seated position- her back straight and prominent as she corrected her posture.

Y/N's mind lagged behind as the pain aching throughout the trails of the scar subsided and tiredness took over- as if his body could finally release all of the tension and stain it had been holding in while away from her. There was nothing he could do about it- his body was in survival mode and it was something he couldn't fight off- he needed sleep. His limbs grew increasingly limp as he struggled to hold his head up. His eyes became heavy and his hips became rocky beneath his weight as he swayed.

Wednesday watched him with furrowed brows- completely unsure weather she should do something about his odd behaviour or watch it play out. She was forced into the latter as his head gently fell onto her shoulder. She grimaced at the contact for a moment or two but slowly, she grew rather fond of the closeness between them. Wednesday could hear his deep breaths and quiet sigh-like snores. She found that she payed little to no attention to the teacher at the front of the class and instead admired Y/N's handsome looks and peaceful disposition.

However- the peace was short lasted as the teacher called out her name. "Wednesday, you show up late to my lesson and now you aren't you paying attention- get your act together young lady-" She cut herself off as she caught sight of the sleeping boy. "Is... Is he asleep?" The teacher spoke out, her face filling with annoyance. The entire class looked back at the two.

Wednesday locked eyes with the teacher- then gazed down at Y/N. She shrugged her shoulder and Y/N's head was dislodged from its comfortable perch. His head then proceeded to fall towards the table where it made contact. A loud thump sounded. "No." Wednesday replied coldly while many students gasped and winced at the sight of Y/N's head making contact with the hard wood table and then the cold stone floor as he fell off of his stool.

The second his face made contact with the table, Y/N woke with a dazed feeling- his head ached and his eyes were still heavy. Confused as to why he was on the floor, he scrambled to his feet. Once again, a chorus of gasps sounded around the class, the teacher included. He could feel the emotions of everyone in the room- sensing an overwhelming collection of worry and second hand embarrassment. He looked down at Wednesday and even she was emitting worry and even guilt. He looked back up. "What?" He asked- putting on a strong mask as he stood straight.

The class fell quiet and the only sound Y/N could hear was the gentle pattering of liquid dropping on the stone floor. At first he assumed that the class dome above had a leek and water was seeping through- but he was quickly proven wrong when he felt something running down his lips and chin. He looked down to see his once crips white shirt was dowsed with crimson and the floor much the same. His eyes went wide as he brought the back of his hand to his nose. His eyes focussed on the blood that now oozed on his skin.

"Miss Addams- would you please take Y/N to the nurse- and make it quick." The teacher blurted out. Wednesday initially opened her mouth to retort but soon stopped herself. She dropped off of her stool and grabbed Y/N by the wrist and made her way to the door- Y/N trailing and stumbling behind her as he struggled to keep up.

Silence engulfed them as Wednesday pulled the bloody mess to the nurses office and even when the nurse sat Y/N down and tended to Y/N- they were both silent- neither of them willing to break it for fear they would loose the battle. Wednesday however did tell the nurse that Y/N had simply passed out and hit his head as he fell. The nurse instructed Y/N to stay sat where he was for the next half and hour or so, just to make sure he wasn't wandering around the academy grounds with a concussion before she left to get their belongings from the greenhouse.. Wednesday stayed- she knew she didn't have to but the guilt she felt told her otherwise. Y/N could feel the conflict and was made curious by it- he had no idea why he had woken up on the floor and with a bloody nose- but he was smart enough to assume that it was Wednesday's doing.

"Are you going to tell me why I am actually covered in my own blood?" Y/N finally asked. His gaze stayed forward facing.

Wednesday did the same as she remained seated beside Y/N in the nurses office, looking ahead of her. "I already said to the nurse. You passed out." She answered coldly.

Y/N could feel she wasn't telling the whole truth and he could sense her guilt growing heavier. "And then what? Did you punch me or something?"

"You wish." Wednesday deadpanned- more for her own amusement that his.

"Do you not think I have a right to know? I know for a fact you have something to do with it- I can practically see the guilt searing through your pours." He shot back- making it clear that he was annoyed with her.

She appeared to pause, like she was weighing up her options. She exhaled deeply through her nostrils- something Y/N was currently unable to comfortably do without dispelling more blood. "You fell asleep on my shoulder so I put you in your place." She spoke bluntly.

Y/N's jaw dropped a little as his eyes widened. His head slowly turned to look at her. Based on her expression, anyone would have guessed that she felt no remorse over her actions- but Y/N could feel otherwise. "Jeez... what a soulmate you are..." He muttered under his breath as he shook his heavy head.

Wednesday grimaced as she locked eyes with him from the corner of her eye. He head then followed her own gaze as if lagging behind. "What do you mean soulmate?" She spat- as if disgusted by his words- which was in truth partially a valid feeling.

Y/N sighed and rolled up his bloodstained sleeve- pulling it up to just above his elbow so he could show her the deep marks residing in his skin. The lines branching from the main bulk of the scar writhed in his skin- like it had been animated. "This is your fault." He hissed at her.

Wednesday's eyes grew in awe of the marks- she oddly found it quite attractive. She quickly shook off her soppy feelings and scoffed. "Did I ask you to etch that into your flesh? No." She responded. His comment did confuse her though- she wondered if he was the stalker that had been watching her for so long.

"No- in my family, this happens when we meet our soulmate- I got mine when you sat down next to me when we first butted heads." Y/N spoke back coldly.

Wednesday rolled her eyes and turned away from him. Y/N could feel that she didn't believe him and that he guilt was disappearing. She could be so cold. He hated it. "How do you know that I am your soulmate and not anyone else in botany class?" She questioned.

He pulled his sleeve down. "Because it is really quite painful until I'm next to you."

A smirk came to her lips. "Painful?"

"It's not something you should find amusing- I can't sleep because of it." Y/N scolded through gritted teeth.

"Well it is very amusing." Wednesday fired back, her smirk growing wider. "So it's not hurting now?"

"No."

She hummed and nodded before pressing her finger into his forearm and digging in. Y/N yanked his arm away and winced. "That hurt?"

"Obviously- you were digging your nail into my arm!" He shouted- making it quite clear to her that he was annoyed.

She snickered as she raised her brows. "You're such a wimp." She insulted.

The look on her face scared Y/N and he wasn't easily scared. A mix of joy and mischief that he knew derived from his suffering. He shook of his fear. "Oh yeah, well I know how to make you squirm." He shot back- forming a smirk of his own. He began to lean over in her direction. His eyes glanced down to her sweet looking lips and then back up to her eyes.

"N-No- what do you think you're doing?" Wednesday blurted out as she began to lean away- making an attempt to get away from his advances. Just like that, Y/N had switched the roles on her and she didn't like it. He pushed further, lifting himself off of his chair and in front of hers. Each of his hands planted down either side of her and gripped on the metal arms that encapsulated her hips so she couldn't escape. It was almost malicious of him- he was doing this to watch her squirm. She backed further into the seat as she was swallowed by Y/N's broad shoulders and caging arms. She saw no escape and he was getting closer. She was scared- not of him but rather of kissing him. She hid it well but she did like Y/N- in fact she was surprised that his empath abilities didn't pick it up- but then again, maybe it was part of the lovestruck curse that made him unable to sense love. After the way things ended with Tyler- she was fearful of finding a relationship again and she knew that if she kissed Y/N- she would just fall into another boy's hands like putty. Her stomach twisted as her breathing grew heavy. His lips were just inches from her own and his eyes had closed. In a split second of panic, she scrunched her eyes shut, wound her neck back and thrusted it back forward.

All she heard was a yelp as her forehead connected with his nose. Her eyes opened to see Y/N on the floor once again and his nose bleeding again too. He writhed as he held his nose in his hands. The door opened up as the nurse stumbled in with their bags. Her eyes met the writhing boy on the ground as her brows narrowed. She then looked at Wednesday who had regained her composure and fixed her posture. "He passed out again." She spoke plainly, putting on her best innocent look.

Sorry for taking so long to post another part! I've been a little sick recently but I think I'm okay now- so hopefully I can pick up the pace again!
