Chapter 20: Ice [Wednesday x Male Reader]

Wednesday (One Shots and Imagines)Words: 10901

It was one of those days where most students didn't dare leave their dorms. Those who had classes that day likely found that their schedule had been lifted due to the icy pathways and many a frozen doorways, meaning the majority of classes couldn't be accessed.

Y/N however, was very well prepared. Being a psychic capable of a degree of precognition, he was well aware of the on coming storm. He made sure his phone alarm was turned off the night before so it never woke him up in the morning. Although, his roommate's alarm still went off, despite Y/N telling him of his vision.

The only issue was, his visions were far from reliable. It was as if his abilities only allowed him to see 1 of many possibilities- and in this vision, one Wednesday Addams- his lover, would slip on ice and hit her head. He couldn't allow that to happen. He wouldn't. He was going to do something about it.

He had the time at which it would happen and the location, all he had to do was show up when he was needed and save the day. Be the big burly hero. In his head, he would show up just in time and catch her in his arms before she hit the ground- and they would look at each other longingly- and it would be romantic and passionate and perfect. He thought it would be simple.

Of course, this wasn't his first idea- initially he planned to just tell her that she should stay inside today. But, being the busy, cold detective she was, Y/N didn't have the chance to warn her. He tried messaging and phoning her but she never answered, so he was forced to wait it out. He paced the length of his dorm room as he waited- counting the minutes.

He put on his shoes and made his way down to the courtyard, waiting some more.

There she was, stalking through the exposed corridors and through the middle of the courtyard. His eyes darted to the ice that remained just a few steps ahead. "Wednesday, stop!" He called, stepping forward.

It appeared that in his narrow sight, he failed to see the ice just a few steps in front of himself. Before he had even planted any weight on his leading boot, he slipped. It was almost comical in the manor of which he fell. He went heels over head rather than the other way around. If a snapshot was taken mid fall, anyone would swear he had just been hit by a semi-truck traveling at full speed.

Wednesday's head snapped around just in time to see him hit the ice. His head pounded against the ground as an audible crack sounded "Y/N." She whispered under her breath before swiftly moving to his side. She placed his head in her lap as her hands moved to rest on his cheeks. "Wake up." She called.

There was no response. She let out a frustrated groan as she slapped his cheeks, attempting to get some sort of response out of him- but still nothing. The only sign that even showed he was alive was the dog coming from his mouth as his chest lifted and compressed.

"Brilliant, I am stuck with you." She breathed. "Again." She muttered in addition- although there was no one around to hear her.

It had been hours before Y/N woke up. When he opened his eyes, everything seemed to be spinning and extremely blurry- it felt like someone had thrown bleach in his eyes. He was fairly sure that he was in Wednesday and Enid's room, the only problem was that he had no idea how he got there. Upon further inspection as he sat up right, he could just about make out a figure lay in the bed across the room. His bare feet were cold beneath the covers. He groaned as he turned his head to see Wednesday sat beside him. She appeared to be slouched forward with her head resting on the bed he lay in. He could just make out her nose and lips, the rest of her face was buried in the covers and blankets. If he was a little chilly under the blankets- he had no doubts that she would be freezing. He frowned a little.

He reached out to her face as he trailed a finger along the line of her jaw. She stirred a little in response but it wasn't enough to make her wake up. A small smile traced his lips and replaced the frown. He drew a deep breath through his nose as he began to remember what had happened. He saw Wednesday and then recalled slipping, falling and then everything was a blur. His cheeks grew red from embarrassment, knowing his abilities had tricked him once more.

He looked out to the circular window to see it pitch black. The only light that remotely lit up the room was the moon and a few sets of fairy lights on Enid's half of the room. Perhaps he had been asleep far longer than he had initially anticipated. Guilt hit him like a fluffy rabbit hit by a fast moving arrow. He groaned- knowing that Wednesday wouldn't have left his side all day and she had fallen asleep without the true comfort of her bed.

The small figure beside him stirred. "Hmmm..." Wednesday murmured as her head shifted on the bed. Her tired eyes slowly opened as her hands balled up into fists around the warm fabric of her blankets and covers. Her arms stretched out in front of her chest as her pale head lifted to see her partner sat up. "Y/N?" Her voice was warm, an odd tone to hear from her lips for many.

Y/N could feel his heart melt at the sight of his sleepy lover- a sight he would like to fall in love with on a regular basis. A slight smile formed on his handsome features. His voice croaked as he responded quietly. "Evening."

"How are you feeling?" She asked quietly whilst her hands lifted to rub her still dozy eyes.

"Okay." He answered promptly but still hushed- he didn't want to wake Enid up too. "Thank you for taking care of me." He murmured sincerely.

A petite yawn left her mouth. He could feel her breath, hot against his arms. "It's not like you left me with any other choice." She retorted shortly.

"Yeah... I guess you're right..." He hummed in agreement. He pulled the covers off of himself. "I should get back to my dorm... Let you have your bed back." He told her as he planted his hands down on the mattress so he could pull his legs over the side of the bed. A firm grip remained around his wrist, stopping him from getting any further.

"Don't. You probably have a concussion and I don't fancy dragging you up several flights of stairs again because you fell down them." She scolded. "I'm fine in my chair."

"That's not fair on you." He whined as his shoulders slumped. In fact, even just sitting up, the room was spinning in a dizzying manner- but he was stubborn, he wouldn't admit to it. "You've done enough for me already. You need to get some proper sleep."

"I was sleeping just fine until you woke me up- in fact I was having a rather pleasant nightmare before you woke me up. Perhaps I should just knock you out and solve this problem that way?" She threatened- although she held no wight or seriousness to it.

Y/N released a frustrated huff. "Fine, I'll stay here- but let's at least swap places."

Wednesday merely scoffed at his trade offer. "You know I can use other means of making you lie back down, don't you?" She continued to make empty threats- but they seemed to be working as he let out another sound of annoyance before he settled back into the bed. "Good." She spoke. Her spindly hand reached to her bedside tables, grabbing the glass of water before holding it before him. "Drink. You've been out for quite a while- I bet you haven't drank anything all day."

She was right- besides the small cup of coffee he had in the morning but that was far from enough liquid intake for the day. Still, he remained stubborn- he hated the feeling of her taking care of him. It made him feel weak. He looked between her and the glass a few times. "What, have you drugged it or something?" Her retorted.

"Drink." She repeated yet again, firmer this time.

Reluctantly, his hand replaced hers around the glass. As soon as his lips made contact with the water, the realisation of how thirsty and deprived of water he actually hit him. A small sip turned into him chugging the whole glass. Once he was done, he muttered a small thanks to her. She nodded once before she took the glass and placed it back on the bedside table.

"Now, sleep." She demanded, placing her now clasped hands in her lap. She had been worried about Y/N. For so long he didn't even stir, even when she and Enid hauled him up the stairs. She was glad to see he was awake and annoying as ever- although she knew he needed to rest.

"I will sleep if... if you get in the bed too." He spoke. He wasn't sure if he had found a new well of confidence or if it was the concussion speaking for him but he meant it either way. He knew his overwhelming guilt of causing her so many issues would keep him up.

Wednesday pursed her lips. "Fine." She caved in. As she stood up, Y/N noticed that she hadn't even changed since he last saw her. Again, he encountered the accountability for this. "Give me a few moments to get changed." She said before moving into her closet.

Y/N waited while she dressed into some more sleep appropriate clothes. No more than two minutes later, she returned. It seemed that no matter what Y/N saw her wear- even if it was a vest and black sweatpants, he never failed to be in awe of her beauty. His cheeks reddened at the sight of her but thankfully, the room was likely dark enough for her not to notice. He shifted over a few inches in the bed to make room for her, which she acknowledged as she sat in the space he left.

She got comfortable beside him. Their feet made contact- which made both of them fumble and move their legs away. Sure enough, her feet were far colder than his own, just as he thought. She was freezing. He took a moment to regain his composure before shuffling a little closer. "Your cold... Do you want to..." He trailed off a little as his actions finished off his suggestion, his arms opening up for her to crawl in.

He hummed in amusement. "Real smooth." She spoke sarcastically but didn't oppose him- instead she welcomed his invitation. She slowly moved into his embrace, the warmth radiating from his embrace too much to resist.

As his arms moved around her, his arms pressed against hers- again he caught how numbingly cold she was. "Thank you, Wednesday- for taking care of me... I really mean it."

She settled into his embrace- it wasn't nearly as bad as she imagined. In fact, she could get used to sleeping in his embrace more often. "It's fine. What are relationships for if not to care for one another?" While rhetorical, her words meant a lot to Y/N. "Now shut up and sleep."

"Yes Ma'am." He responded.

When the morning inevitably came and the sun filled the room with blinding light, neither one of them dared to move- either because their legs were too tangled or because neither were brave enough to leave the warmth of the blankets.
