Chapter 36

Three weeks.

It's been three weeks since I've seen both Jason and Lucas. And I couldn't help but be at loss for words.

"Lucas," I whispered with a soft smile, and he began to step closer to me, but froze just at arms length when another voice entered our silent conversation.

"You took longer than I expected, Emma," Anthony's voice echoed behind me, and I made sure to block his way to Lucas.

Lucas, however, didn't let me take control before stepping in front of me with a stiff posture.

Looking over his shoulder, I noticed Anthony glancing at the broken part of the gate in Lucas' tight hold before chuckling. "Well that cancels our suspicions, doesn't it?"

"What suspicion?" Jason asked, and Anthony sent him a smirk.

"These gates are laced with a certain metal that... some witches are weakened to," he eyed Lucas. "Hunter's aren't affected."

My jaw clenched as I stood in front of Lucas, grabbing the metal out of his hands before eyeing his wound.

"Sasha, Misha, come bring the boys upstairs," Anthony shouted suddenly, unlocking Jason's gate with telekinesis.

"In your dreams," Lucas retorted behind me as I watched Jason exit the gate slowly.

Noticing it now, I found that their clothes were covered in either dirt or rips.

I couldn't even hug either of them before the men Anthony called came from the end of the hall.

Jason looked at me once more before hesitantly following Misha who grabbed his upper arm.

Now, all that was left was Lucas, Anthony, and I. But let's not forget Sasha.

"Let's not make this hard, Lucas," he sighed.

"Fuck off," Lucas snarled, now moving his arm around me just before bringing me closer to his chest.

Anthony's eyes narrowed at the action before nodding his head once in our direction.

In seconds, Sasha moves in front of the both of us before prying Lucas away from me.

Lucas immediately threw a punch, aiming directly at his face.

Sasha didn't have enough time to wince at the pain before putting a cloth — most likely laced with something— under Lucas' nose, covering his mouth as well.

Just as I was about to follow them, Anthony stuck out his long arm, preventing me from going any further.

"Why can't I see them?" I hissed, and he looked down to me with a smile as though he knew something I didn't.

"You will see them soon, Emma. But until then, I need you to behave," he said, bringing his arm down.

I sucked in a large intake of breath before nodding slowly. "You won't hurt them?"

Anthony smirked. "Promise."

Suddenly, he stood next to me before lifting his arm out. "I'll walk you to your room," he sent me one final look. "Shall we?"

♡

All of Thursday was spent with me anxiously waiting for Anthony to let me visit the boys, however, he was no where to be found.

On Friday, I managed to fall asleep, only to be woken up at ten by Fay.

"Come on Emma, breakfast is gonna be served in twenty minutes," she started with, and a loud groan left me before I sat up on the mattress.

"Just give me five minutes," I yawned, and Fay smiled just as she moved her bangs away from her eyes.

"I'll wait for you outside your room," she stated before leaving me alone in my quiet room.

Grudgingly, I threw my legs off the side of the bed before stepping on the cold floor and walking to the bathroom.

Once I've brushed my teeth and managed my hair into a tight ponytail, I decided to head out in my pajamas, which consisted of grey sweatpants and a black tank top.

"Ready?" Fay asked, and I couldn't help but yawn.

"Yeah."

We both walked down together to the first floor, but just as we were about to enter the kitchen, I found Adam idling by the entrance.

"You go on, I need to talk to Adam," I whispered into Fay's ear, and she nodded before walking passed Adam, entering the kitchen.

I started to slow my steps before stopping in front of him. "What happened?" I started with, and Adam sighed before straightening his stance.

"Boss was looking at the security footage, and when he noticed he went offline in the workout room, he connected the dots," he explained.

"Did you tell him that I knew where the boys were?" I asked, and Adam slowly nodded, avoiding my gaze.

A laugh left me forcefully. "Why am I not surprised?"

Adam's jaw clenched before looking around. Once he was satisfied with whatever he was looking for, he grabbed my hand before pulling me to the side.

"Listen. Boss doesn't give out freebees. You fuck up, you're dead. If you haven't noticed, I've fucked up a lot. The only reason he's being lenient with me is because our dads have been friends for decades," Adam hissed under his breath when we were away from any possible listeners.

Feeling slightly bad, I looked off to the side and sighed. "I get it," I admitted.

When I looked back to Adam, I noticed a smile on his lips.

Before I was able to say anything, another voice boomed out, echoing through the hall. "Emma. Come with me."

Looking over my shoulder, I noticed Anthony's tall posture next to the grand staircase, and I looked back to Adam quickly to flash him a smile.

Right as I stood next to Anthony, he turned to the kitchen. "Mabel, make a dish for Emma and bring it upstairs to the guest wing, please."

Without waiting for a response, he turned around and made his way upstairs, knowing that I would follow him.

When we reached the top floor, Anthony waited so I was standing next to him before walking down the guest wing.

For a few minutes, we were walking down silently. However, when I saw four hunters standing outside a door, my back stood straighter as we slowed our steps.

"Open," Anthony demanded to them, and they glanced at me before opening the door, giving me a clear vision of what was going on inside.

The bedroom which consisted of two twin beds were not slept in, however, the chair across the room was filled with a boy with brown hair and brown eyes.

Taking slow steps closer, I noticed Lucas was pacing back and forth in front of me.

"Hey guys," I smiled, and Lucas' eyes shot up.

Paralyzed by my presence, Lucas stood frozen in front of me while Jason rounded him before coming to hug me.

"I missed you," I mumbled into his neck as I tightened my hold around his waist.

Jason followed my action and was about to say something before a loud laugh echoed off the walls in the large bedroom.

Suddenly, Jason moved away from me and stood next to Lucas — who was currently standing in front of me in a split second.

Lucas' back was stiff and I could imagine he was probably glaring daggers to Anthony, who was casually leaning against the door frame.

"I'll let you three get reacquainted," Anthony said, looking over the boys shoulder before sending me a smirk.

Once he was out of the room, the boys turned back around, facing me.

"Are you okay?" Lucas asked, taking a step closer to me.

My gaze shifted down, looking at his hands, which seemed to be cleaned from last night.

Remembering that the boys were waiting for my answer, I looked back up and slowly nodded. "I'm... fine."

"Anthony... the boss, is my biological dad," I broke the silence with, and both of their eyes widened.

"The man Jasmine and Adam were working for is your dad?" Jason asked, shock laced in his tone.

I laughed awkwardly as I began itching the back of my neck. "Yeah, apparently so."

Lucas and Jason shared a look before looking back to me. "We knew he was a hunter, but we didn't really think he would be in charge of, well... all of this," Jason said, and my brows furrowed.

"How do you know he was a hunter?"

"It's a long story," Jason laughed, and I glanced at Lucas, who was just staring at me.

"Well please tell me. I need a distraction from whatever is beyond that door," I laughed, taking a seat on the made bed.

Jason laughed, moving to sit next to me while Lucas just stood, watching the both of us.

I didn't talk as I watched Lucas move his gaze away from me and onto the wall, finding it oddly suspicious.

Sighing, I looked back to Jason who was flashing me a large grin.

"Where to begin..." he said, and I titled my head back, ready for what's in store.

♡

A few hours had passed, and we managed to talk about everything we've done in the past few weeks.

However, Lucas stayed silent for most of the time for some unknown reason.

As Jason was updating me on what was going on with a show we were both watching called You, the door was thrown open, revealing Omar, my favorite guard.

"Miss, care to follow me downstairs?" he asked, and I glanced over my shoulder to see the boys slowly standing up from their seats.

When I looked back Omar, my brows furrowed. "Why? What's going on?"

He cleared his throat. "Boss said you hadn't eaten in a while so lunch is being served for you downstairs," he explained, and I slowly nodded before facing the boys.

"I'll be back," I said, but before they had a chance to respond, Omar pulled me out of the room and closed the door before locking it shut.

"Why did you lock it?" I asked, and Omar sighed before walking down the hall.

"Because boss doesn't trust that they won't start a fuss," he said once I was walking next to him.

"Jasmine," my eyebrows raised when I saw her standing next to the stairs.

Her jaw clenched and she tilted her head to the side, silently telling Omar to go.

"Why are you waiting here?" I asked, and she sighed before going down the stairs.

"I'm was forced," she grumbled under her breath, as we walked downstairs together.

When we reached the bottom of the stairs, she smirked, and I sighed, already knowing what was coming. "So how are the boys, Emma? Still alive?" She sighed. "Shame."

"Jasmine," I said with false cheeriness. "I promise you that when these cuffs come off, you're the first I'll go to celebrate."

She didn't take offense, instead, she rolled her eyes just as she went inside the kitchen.

We ate dumplings in silence, however, towards the end of me finishing my meal, something loud fell down by the front of the house, and everyone from the kitchen rushed out — me included.

Lying face down on the ground was a hunter, who I hoped was still breathing.

Slowly looking up from the top of the staircase, I found Lucas staring down at the crowd below him.

Once his eyes caught mine, it widened. But before he was about to do anything, Anthony slowly walked up from behind him before lifting up his hand, revealing a cloth.

In seconds, it was under Lucas' nose, and his eyes rolled back before he fell back with a thud.

My jaw clenched as I jogged up the stairs, ready to defend Lucas against Anthony.

♡

A long yawn left me as I sat on the chair with a magazine, waiting for Lucas to wake up from his nap.

We were now entering the seventh hour Lucas has been asleep, and I was about to question Anthony about what he used to drug Lucas with when his eyes suddenly began to flutter open.

"Emma?" he whispered groggily, and his eyes slowly began to widen when he noticed where we were.

"What the fuck?" he whispered to himself as he eyed the identical room I have back at home.

A laugh left me. "I had the most fucked up dream, Emma," he said, and I tightly smiled before standing up and walking to my closed curtains.

Without a second thought, I opened them, revealing the large window sticker.

Lucas still looked confused, leaving me to roll my eyes before peeling off the sticker.

When I looked back to Lucas, his eyes doubled in size. "Anthony made me a room as the same one back at home. Supposed to comfort me, but honestly, is more creepy," I explained.

"What happened?" Lucas asked, sitting up so his back was pressed against the headboard.

I took a seat on the left side of the bed before smiling. "After you escape out of the room, Anthony drugged you with something," I explained.

Lucas' icy blue eyes met mine, and I couldn't help but bite my lower lip. "Anthony wanted you to go back downstairs to the cells, but I said some things... anyways, he let me take you to my room."

"What time is it?" he asked, and another yawn left me.

"Almost midnight," I explained, leaning back on the headboard.

We stayed in silence for a short while before Lucas turned to face me again. "What should we do now?"

A small laugh left me. "Well, I'm supposed to report to Anthony when you're awake."

"But?" Lucas asked slowly.

"I really don't want to," I explained with a small smile, which Lucas seemed to reciprocate.

"If you want, you can stay here for the night and we can deal with the drama tomorrow," I offered, and he slowly nodded, sinking lower so he was lying down.

He rested his hand on the mattress between us as his lip tipped up into a smirk. "Come on Hope, lie down with me."

I smiled before lowering myself so I was resting on my back.

"Goodnight," I whispered, rolling to my side so I was facing him. However, instead of responding, he rested his hand on my waist, tugging me closer before shutting his eyes.

♡

"Fuck you," someone hissed, but my eyes remained shut, believing that it was just in my dream.

However, when banging seemed to ring inside of my bedroom, my eyes slowly fluttered open just as Lucas is thrown out of the bedroom.

My eyes widened quickly as I sat up on the mattress, ignoring my sore neck.

Anthony was by the front of the door before turning back to me with narrowed eyes. "Be ready in twenty minutes," was all he said before leaving the bedroom.

When the door was closed shut behind him, I quickly got ready for whatever was on the other side of the door.

Once I was dressed in leggings and a dark purple tee-shirt, I left the bedroom, only to be faced with Omar and Victor.

Right when they saw me, Omar started walking, and I began to follow him hesitantly.

Victor was following from behind, and I was worried to why they were being dramatic in this situation.

We reached the guest wing quickly, and the other several hunters in front of the door moved aside when they saw us approaching.

When I entered the room, Jason was sitting next to Lucas on the bed while Anthony sat across the room patiently.

"Ah, finally," he smirked as he stood up.

I took a seat next to Lucas, who eyed my appearance twice before looking at Anthony, who walked in front of us so he was in our line of vision.

Anthony eyed the three of us and suddenly began to chuckle. "It was like it was meant to be, you know?"

"What?" I asked slowly as the three of us exchanged looks.

"Emma, there is so much you don't know," he chuckled at his inside joke before sobering up.

After taking a deep breath, he smiled. "Emma, Jason, I need you to do one of the greatest things anyone could ever do."

"And what's that?" Jason laughed, but it was as though there was no emotion in it.

"A spell," he explained simply, and a chuckle left me.

"Why would we help you, Anthony?" I asked, and Anthony seemed mildly offended for a split second.

"You're my daughter, Emma," he smirked as he eyed the other two gentlemen in the room, before locking his eyes on Jason.

"In each generation, there lives two hybrids with extraordinary gifts. One has the ability to heal, and the other can cause total destruction. Those two people, are you, Jason and Emma. Figure out who has what role and come back to me," he said, and we both scoffed.

"Hybrids? Are you kidding me?" I said, and Anthony's eyes narrowed on me.

"I've never been more serious in my life, Emma."

"And why would we even help you?" Jason asked, crossing his arms over his chest, however, Anthony didn't lose his smirk.

"That's where he comes in," he started. "If you don't do what I say, Lucas Scott dies."

♡
