HALEY

My fifth heat took. That’s right, I’m pregnant! After tossing the pee stick in the trash and getting it outside so Virgil can’t find it, Kenna and I head to no-man’s-land.

Kenna got a positive test four days ago.

We’re planning to surprise Virgil and Jason when they return today from visiting a pack in Vermont. They’ve been gone for ten whole days.

“What should we do?” Kenna asks.

She went through seven heats, poor thing. We’re both so relieved they’re over. Heats suck! It’s a good thing they’re only once every three months.

“It’s too bad it’s not their birthday. We could just get them a baby toy as a gift.”

“Yeah, and Father’s Day is too far away… Maybe we should just tell them.”

~Moon Flower, is everything all right? Your emotions are all over the place.~

~I’m just excited you’re coming back today. I’ve missed you.~ Goddess, I need to keep my emotions under tighter control or he’s going to figure out something is going on.

I tell Kenna the same thing, but her smile is contagious. We both take some calming breaths.

~Well, we’re not coming back alone. I’ll be pretty busy for a little while.~

~I already got them sorted and Patrick and Jasmin are getting their rooms ready.~

~You’re so amazing, my love. We’ll be back just after lunchtime. They’re going to be hungry though.~

~On it. Hurry back to me. I love you.~

~Love you more.~

“What if we get a bassinet and set it up beside our beds?” She suggests as she picks up a stuffed bear only to put it back down.

“That would be cute. The guys are going to be busy when they get back so you should have enough time. I’m going to do something different…” But what, is the question.

“What about T-shirts that say mommy-to-be?” Hmm, nah. Kenna shakes her head and picks up a stuffed wolf and it hits me.

Kenna finds matching mommy and daddy to be T-shirts and a bassinet, since she’s going to use one anyway. We load up and get back to the pack house to set up the bassinet in her room.

She hangs the T-shirts over the sides and she’s ready to go. Mine is much easier and takes five seconds to set up.

Kenna and I make lunch for the guys since they’re always hungry. Their trucks pull in just as we finish up. Jasmin and Patrick help herd the new pups into the pack house.

There was a fight between two packs and it left a few pups orphaned. The alpha that caused the fight was reprimanded.

Because of his pride and carelessness, he lost a lot of money for his pack and tried to blackmail the other alpha. Needless to say, he can’t take care of the orphans in his pack, so Virgil brought them back here.

Five girls and seven boys step into the kitchen.

“Hello everyone. I’m Luna Haley, and this is Kenna the beta’s mate. I know you had a long drive so we have lunch for you. I know you’re scared, but you have your friends with you and Alpha Virgil will make sure you’re safe.”

I wave to the table and the oldest boy, who looks to be about eleven, takes the initiative to sit down pulling his little sister with him. The other pups follow his lead and sit at the table to eat.

Virgil and Jason finish unloading the trucks with the help of a few guards. We had thirty-six more families arrive within the first three months of becoming the alpha pair.

There was plenty of room, but the families started building homes around the pack house. Kya’s uncle Mark was awesome and more than happy to have work. He designed our whole territory and homes are still being built.

We have a greenhouse, clinic, training center, and a diner at Spencer’s request. The server, Dorothy from the Ramirez pack found her mate in a stray so they came here.

Spencer was so excited. She makes some really good food.

Strays tend to find their way here. It’s a pack, but not at the same time. Virgil is already connected to every wolf, so no one has to be inducted, but he’s still an alpha and his orders are followed.

The rogues feel more freedom here than with a normal pack. After they’re vetted, they’re either allowed to stay or they have to make up for past offenses before returning.

Virgil also had Mark build a dungeon. I’m not happy about the barbaric idea, but I understand the necessity of it. He brought the seven detainees from the Weston pack over here to try to rehabilitate them.

Virgil is too good sometimes.

He cocks his brow at me as I stare at him from the doorway. He grabs his duffle bag then stalks up the stairs toward me. “Hi my Moon Flower. I’ve missed you.”

He sniffs my neck then drops his bag to pull me tight to him for a deep, much-needed and overdue kiss. He practically growls in hunger as he nibbles my lower lip.

I pull back. “Hi my handsome. I’ve missed you too. There’s lunch on the table.”

He kisses my cheek. “Thanks, but I’m going to shower first. Save some for me, ok?”

I nod and he sneaks another sniff of my mark. “Hmm. You smell different, it’s delectable. I must’ve been gone for too long. Next time you’re coming with me. I don’t like being apart.”

I smile then kiss his cheek. “Go shower. I’ll help see to the pups.”

Virgil nods then heads inside. He looks over the pups then stops just before leaving the kitchen. He looks Kenna over then looks back at me.

~Is she…?~

~Don’t say anything, she has a surprise for Jason.~

~I’m happy for them.~ I know he is, but I still feel his disappointment. It’s been a year and three months.

I look away and focus on Kenna so I don’t give away my surprise. Virgil gives me a wink then heads to our room. I bite my lip and wait.

~Moon Flower?~ I let my excitement wash over him and he growls as he crashes the door open to pick me up and swing me around.

~Really?~ I laugh then nod. “Goddess, baby, this is the second best day of my life.”

He goes back to the bed to pick up the little wolf next to the Nathaniel/Virgil stuffy and my mini doppelganger that he won for me on our trip to the Midwest summit. He smiles at the pup then places it back on the bed.

Virgil traps me in his arms and lightly tosses me to the bed then crushes me in a make-out session. I push him away with a giggle. “You’re supposed to be taking a shower,” I remind him.

He growls, then pulls off my pants. He sniffs at me and hums. “That’s why you smell different,” he comments to himself, then licks me.

I toss my head back and let him have his way with me.

Two hours later, we emerge freshly showered and completely satisfied. Virgil’s smile stretches from ear to ear as he pulls leftovers from the fridge.

Jason has the same silly look on his face. I would roll my eyes, but I’m just as happy.

The new pups are gathered together in the entertainment room. I look to each one to see their pasts and futures. Most are just saddened by the loss of their parents.

Some are nervous to be in a new place, some are excited to be with the Alpha King. They’re all so cute and I can’t wait for them to get out of their shells.

Jason goes over the rules with the pups, then we spend the rest of the day getting to know them better.

My pregnancy is rough. I’m nauseated and puking every day, sometimes multiple times. Marlena gives me medication for nausea, but it doesn’t do much.

Dara is awesome and she is able to give me enough relief to get through the summits.

Kenna, on the other hand, has an easy pregnancy and she’s super active. She is so supportive as the beta mate and takes over most of my tasks, allowing me to rest whenever possible.

I’m so relieved when my first trimester is finished. Virgil is too, his worry for my health and that of our pup has consumed him and he has had a hard time focusing.

Kenna and I throw a birthday party for Virgil and Jason. Uncle Ryan and Alphas Redd, Ramirez, Blackburn, and Castleton all show up with their mates and pups.

We have a grand party and everyone in the pack is invited.

Thomas and Anna are still dating, they won’t find out that they’re mates for another few months, but they’re still really good together. Uncle Ryan and Realta bring Blaine and Bristol, she’ll be turning one next month.

Alpha Ramirez and Natalie named their son Derrick. He has Natalie’s bright blue eyes and Damon’s dark skin and hair. He is so cute, he’ll be one two weeks after Bristol.

“Are you all right, Moon Flower?” Virgil asks me for like the tenth time today.

I sit on his lap and kiss his cheek. “Again. Yes, my love. I’m fine. Now that the first trimester is over, I feel much better, but fatter. I’m huge.”

He rubs my belly. “I love the belly and I’m going to love it even more the bigger it gets. Wait a minute,” he says as he places his hand to my belly. He looks around the room. “Kya. Can you come here for a second please?”

“What’s up?” She asks as she sets Conall with Marley; Glory and Spencer’s little girl.

“Can you check her out, please?”

Kya’s hand goes to my belly and she smiles. “Realta, Natalie, tell me what you think.”

~Should I just read their minds?~

~Just wait, Moon Flower. They’ll tell you in a second.~ I grunt but wait for the ladies to assess my belly. They both nod. “Yep. It is,” Natalie tells Kya. Realta lends me a little of her strength.

“Are you going to let me in on the secret?”

“Actually, it’s kind of fun you not knowing everything for once,” Realta giggles.

“Stop teasing her,” Kya nudges Realta. “You’re having three. It feels like two share a sac then an extra in its own little sac.”

My mouth drops open as does Virgil’s. “Th.. th.. three?” I stutter. Auntie Lindra said the twins don’t come until the third generation, she never said anything about three. Hell, I’ve never heard of any Were having more than two.

I mean twins are so rare I’ve only known of one other set in the Redd Pack, one in Mongolia, and one in Finland. Three? I’m having a whole fucking litter! Virgil chuckles. I look to him in question.

“You linked everyone that last part.” I look around the room at everyone laughing.

“I don’t get it, how can you have three? I thought we’re only supposed to have girls?” Glory asks.

“You can blame Virgil’s super alpha sperm for that.” Everyone cracks up and Virgil just lifts his head in absolute pride. I’m so not cut out for this.
