Zhan's pov

It was a mess everything was a mess.

I found my father lying on the floor, and my body just stopped functioning, it was like I was punched in the gut, I couldn't breathe couldn't move.

I remember falling on the floor, the broken glass pieces piercing the skin on my palm, before making my way to my father and checking his pulse, my hands were shaking so badly that I could barely control them and soon I was crying hysterically, I rushed to my room stepping on the broken glass shards on my way.

My legs and hands were bloody as I made my way to the room and called my uncle and then the ambulance, I was a crying mess and was hysterical but I managed to send the message.

I went back to my father and soon, my house was flooded with people, my uncle and aunt both came to the hospital, and my father was rushed to the hospital.

And once again I was back in that cold hospital corridor, shaking and crying, feeling broken and shattered, feeling utterly defeated.

My aunt sat beside me, comforting me, while my uncle was handling all the paperwork.

Hours passed without any news.

And finally, when the doctor came out, my uncle was the one who talked to him.

After talking to the doctor my uncle came to me and gently sat beside me, he held my hand and in a gentle voice, he said, "Zhan...your father is sick...he has acute kidney failure and he does not have much time."

After hearing this news I felt like someone had ripped my heart out of my chest and torn it apart.

"You can go and see him."

I took deep breaths, wiped my face, and tried my best to be strong to not break down my father needed me and I could not be a whiny brat.

It took me a few minutes to gather myself before I got up and walked towards my father's room. My soul shattered when I saw all the machines, and my father lying on the bed.

He gave me a smile and urged me to sit beside him.

I said nothing and sat beside him, he raised his hand and I held his hand.

My hand was all bandaged and so was my leg. When my father saw the bandages he became sad, "Sorry son."

I said nothing.

"I wanted to tell you before but I couldn't... I am so sorry."

I couldn't even look at him because it was painful, and what was I supposed to say? There was nothing I could say or do. I felt utterly helpless, I had no money for his treatment, besides I was told that his disease was incurable, and all I could do was slowly watch him die.

"I knew that I didn't have much time, so I wanted to make sure that you had someone after I was gone, and thankfully your uncle and aunt stepped in"

"They knew?"

"Yes, they did."

"For how long have you been having this disease?" I asked.

"I was feeling sick for a long time and your mother was worried about me, so she took a job, for you and me, she wanted me to get checked, but she ended up losing her life instead. I am sorry son... I wish I could do better."

"This is not fair" I finally spoke as tears slipped my eyes, "It's not fair! You can't die. You can't leave me alone! I don't want to be an orphan it's not fair! You should have told me before and given me time to process, this is too sudden, too painful...I..." I held his hand and cried, "Please dad, please please please don't leave me alone...."

"I am sorry son..." he spoke in a broken voice.

Unable to take it anymore, I got up and ran out of the hospital, it was raining outside but I didn't mind I walked back to my house in the heavy rain.

But when I reached home, I saw Yibo over there, sitting on the porch of my house.

I had to meet him today.

He looked at me and saw my bandages, and without saying anything anymore he ran to me and hugged me tightly and once again I broke down in his arms.
