Chapter 2: Chapter Two

In Love With Mr Perfect ✔️Words: 16346

The first thing I did as soon as we got into the house was take off my wet muddy shoes and leave them at the door next to my soaking wet backpack. My glasses came off next and after blinking a few times to adjust to the bright lights my eyes were able to make out the ambiance of the room. Let me rephrase that, definitely not a room but a house. There was a plush dark purple rug on the corridor leading all the way to the open plan living room and joint kitchen. Everything was so posh, like way too posh for a campus student.

There were three couches in the living room facing a fifty four inch screen TV and two arm chairs. There was a very expensive looking game console next to the stand holding up the television. I spun around to get a look of the kitchen and it screamed not-lived in. Everything was spotless so I figured he rarely used it. It wasn't too big but it was the perfect size with a fridge, microwave, double sink and wooden cabinets high on the walls and also below the counter tops. There was also one of those four part cookers with an attached oven. The guy was living the dream life.

He came back a few minutes later and I was dumbstruck for a moment. He was gorgeous and coming from a critic like me that was saying something. He was tall around six feet, dark skinned like dark chocolate dark with a mop of curly hair , the darkest eyes I'd ever seen on anyone and visible dimples. Why did God have to give everything to one man? He was also blessed in the muscle department and I was sure if I took a peep under the white T-shirt he was wearing I would see a pair of abs adorning his abdomen.

A hand on my shoulder startled me and I almost jumped. He chuckled lightly at my reaction and it had to be the best thing I have ever heard. Even his laugh sounded deep and husky. Due to the considerable height difference I had to look up at him.

"I'm sorry to startle you but I wanted to give you something to change into. You are soaked." He said and it took me a long second to understand what he had just said.

"I don't think that's a very good idea. I don't know who you are. I don't even know what I'm doing here. Actually you know what, thank you for you kindness. Your momma raised you well but I have to go." I said spinning on my heels towards the door.

Before I could make it far a hand spun me back around. He immediately let me go and raised his hands up in surrender after seeing the dirty look I sent him.

"All I want to do is help, I promise. Just go into the bathroom and change into what I've put out for you and then come back and we will talk." He said sincerely.

I eyed him suspiciously but I was freezing so I decided to take him up on his offer. I left him standing there and headed back to where I had seen him emerge from. I found three doors, two facing each other on different directions and one at the end of the hallway. One was slightly open and my guess was right because it was the bathroom. I close the door behind me before stripping naked and using the towel laid besides the pile of clothes to dry myself. The towel was so soft I almost wept at how good it felt on my skin. I also dried my hair before I looked at the all male clothes laid out for me.

I picked the pair of grey sweatpants and pulled them on. Surprisingly enough they are snug on me but too long so I fold them a little at the bottom. There was also a T-shirt and a hoodie which were both oversize but I still wore them. I washed my inner garments and hang them up on the towel rack, I need them clean for when I wore them again. Nothing was as disgusting as wearing dirty undies. I folded my wet clothes neatly and placed them on the sink before heading out.

I found him seated on the sofa watching something on the TV sipping something hot. I noticed an extra mug on the glass table as I sat next to him. My glasses were neatly placed on the table so I put them back on and was surprised to see that he had cleaned them for me.

"I made cocoa." He told me pointing at the steaming mug.

"I prefer coffee." I blurted out insensitively.

"I'm sorry I should have asked. I'll make you some." He apologized placing his mug down preparing to get up.

"No its okay. I'm sorry, thank you for cocoa, it was very thoughtful of you." I replied thankfully.

I grabbed my mug and took a careful sip. It was actually very good.

"You're welcome."He said smiling exposing a pair of of pearly white teeth.

"So are you going to tell me your name?" I asked him.

He looked mortified for a moment before that look was replaced with a shy smile "I'm sorry my name is Mason Baraka. I'm a fourth year student here at the university studying Actuarial Science."

"A bookworm I see." I teased him.

"Just good at math I guess." He defended himself making me laugh.

I couldn't believe that I was comfortably seated in a stranger's home, dressed in his clothes, drinking his cocoa and laughing with him. It was totally not me at all.

"What about you?" He asked.

"Huh?"

"You haven't introduced yourself." He chided and I smiled.

"My name is Becca Rubadiri. I'm a third year student studying Drama and Theatre studies." I introduced myself.

"You have a pretty and unique name." He complimented and I blushed.

I freaking blushed.

"Thank you. So do you go around saving damsels in distress stuck in the rain?" I asked hoping to take the attention away from my awkward self.

"No, just you." He said smiling and I drained my cup before I said anything to embarrass myself.

We stayed in complete silence for a while longer none of us knowing what to say to the other. I wanted to borrow his phone so as to call Hailee and explain my current situation to her but I was afraid of asking too much from him. He seemed like a nice guy and all but one could never be too careful when it came to men.

Oh, the good a smoke would do me in such an awkward situation but Mason looked like a goody two shoes who had never even been a passive smoker in his life. I could tell he was mama's boy from how neat and well mannered he was. Looks like somebody was raised right but with a silver spoon in his mouth. It was actually the perfect combination in a man but I was sure he had a flaw, all men did.

"I'm sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable. I am just not used to having company over." He apologized.

"Living in a place like this and never having company over. What are you, a monk?" I asked surprised and he laughed softly.

"No it's not that, I kind of a hard time making real friends worth bringing over to my place and the building doesn't allow parties." He explained.

"Really? I know these houses are expensive so it kinda makes sense for stuck up rules like those ones." i commented.

"Where do you live?" He asked and my guard immediately went up.

"Why?" I asked him skeptically.

"Nothing just curious." He replied.

"Not to be rude or anything but you haven't earned that information quite yet."

He looked at me shocked.

"There's no harm in you telling me. You do know where I live."

"So when is this rain going to stop so I can actually leave?" I mumbled.

"I'm messing this up aren't I?" He asked running his hand over his face to show he was getting frustrated.

At the moment all I wanted to do was run away from him but the poor guy was already feeling so guilty of making me uncomfortable, I didn't want to make him feel worse.

"No it's okay, I'm not so good at this either. If it's not too much to ask because you've already done so much can I borrow your phone, mine dropped in the rain and died. I need to call someone." I politely asked feeling guilty already.

I hated pleading but at the moment I was at his mercy and I needed to play nice.

"Yeah of course here." He said taking out a sleek android Huawei smartphone. The latest of its kind.

He unlocked it for me and I took it and dialed Hailee's number. I had to memorize it as a rule in our friendship in case one of us lost our phones . It kept ringing and I was afraid she wouldn't pick up. I wouldn't be shocked though because Hailee hated picking up new numbers but thankfully she picked up on the last ring.

"Hello who's this?" She answered sounding breathless.

"Hey love it's me sorry if I interrupted something." I teased her.

"Becca! Oh My God! I've been calling you like crazy but your phone is off and please don't apologize. My man here is just keeping me warm. It is after all crazy cold." She teased back making me laugh. "Where is your phone? Whose number is this? Have you been kidnapped? Where are you? Do I need to come get you?"

And there ladies and gentlemen was my best friend who fussed over me even more than my mom.

"Lee calm down. I'm okay and safe. I got stranded in the rain and a good Samaritan helped me out." I said eyeing Mason who was pretending to be watching Tv but was actually eavesdropping on my conversation.

"Who was she?"

"It's actually a he." I said and waited for the tongue lashing but it never came.

"Ooh okay. Make sure to use protection and give me all the juicy details tomorrow. Now I gotta go because it's getting cold again and mama needs warmth. I love you." She rushed out.

"I love you too but Lee wait..." I called out but she hang up on me.

I stared at the phone shocked feeling like smacking her through it.

My best friend who for as long as I'd her was an overprotective mama bear had just allowed me to sleep with a man she barely knew. I almost called her back but I restrained myself because I planned on unleashing hell on her when I saw her during dance practice in the morning.

"That seemed like a very uncomfortable conversation with a boyfriend." Mason said distracting me from my thoughts.

"Actually that was my very overprotective best friend." I explained still trying to wrap my head around what had just happened.

"So now that we are on the subject is there a boyfriend I need to be worried about?" He asked.

I felt as if his question had a double meaning but I answered him anyway.

"No boyfriend. They either can't handle me or Lee chases them away." I said laughing and he chuckled too.

"Sounds like one hell of a friend you've got there."

"Yeah she's my other half." I said with a fond smile on my lips. "Thanks for the phone." I said handing it back to him.

"Your welcome. Anyway I usually eat out since I'm not that good of a cook but since we're both trapped here by this rain I will whip up something for us to eat." He offered.

"That kitchen looks empty." I commented.

He blushed scratching the back of his head. "Actually when I said prepare something I meant boil water for the instant noodles. Its the only thing that I can cook."

"Since you've been such a gentleman and kind enough to give me a place to stay why don't you allow me to make us supper unless you are uncomfortable having me in your kitchen." I suggested.

"No, not at all." He replied quickly.

I smiled and got up heading to the kitchen.

I opened the fridge and it was almost empty except for a few tomatoes, some minced meat, a few cartons of juice and what I could only guess was Masons form of alcohol which was a six pack Smirnoff Ice. The boy was too innocent. I grabbed all the tomatoes and minced meat and laid them out on the counter. I then searched for a knife, onions, oil and I also found some spaghetti in one of the cabinets.

As I prepared supper I couldn't help enjoying the moment even though I knew I shouldn't. It wasn't my house and that wasn't my boyfriend seated on the couch waiting for me to cook as he watched a movie. I was in a strangers home making him food as a thank you for saving my ass. As soon as the weather let up I would leave and it would all be a beautiful dream.

An hour later everything was done and I served it up on a tray before taking it all to the table for us to eat. I had also poured some juice and water in glasses to accompany the spaghetti and meat balls I had prepared.

Mason smiled appreciatively when I laid everything out for us to devour.

"All this looks delicious." He complimented and I smiled.

"Hold the praises until you can taste it." I replied.

He took his plate which was a little more than mine and dug in. My mother always taught me that no matter how hungry I was the food on my plate should never supersede that of a man. My mom was not always with me but I wasn't about to forget her teachings.

Mason took the first bite and moaned. I took that as a huge compliment before I grabbed my plate and dug in as well.

"Well this really is good. If I knew helping you out would lead to me having such a delicious meal then I pray the rain never stops because I could get used to such meals." He chided.

"Well you could marry me and ensure a life time of awesome meals." I joked.

"Fantastic idea. Becca will you marry me?" He asked and we both burst out laughing.

Looks like I had misjudged Mason. He was an awesome guy and the more we got to know each other the more I realized there was more to the hot and nerdy mama's boy than met the eye. Too bad he was good and I was bad. We all know those two were never a good mix.

He insisted on doing the dishes after we were done eating saying I cooked so he had to clean. I didn't have it in me to object because honestly I hated doing the dishes. I grabbed the remote and chose a movie to watch on Netflix.

Who could even afford a smart Tv in campus let alone have a Netflix account? The more I learnt about him the more I realized he was a Prince and I was a pauper. Well not litterally a pauper but you get it. He lived the high life and I was one of those people who lived by what I got which wasn't that much.

He joined me on the couch after doing the dishes and we watched the movie in silence. After it was finished I realized how late it was and the rain wasn't letting up so it meant I had to spend the night.

"Looks like your going to have to spend the night." Mason said reading my mind.

"You've taken the words right out of my mouth." I said taking off my glasses and laying them out on the table.

"I have an early class so I'll show you where you'll be sleeping in case you want to sleep now or later but I have to call it a night." He said getting up.

"We're not sharing a room are we?" I asked shocked but still excited and I had no idea why. Maybe it was the slut in me talking. Please excuse my language.

Mason chuckled. "No I have an extra room you can sleep in." He explained and a part of me felt disappointed that I wasn't going to be snuggled up all night with the handsome hunk of a man.

"Who pays for this place?" I asked shocked not really expecting him to answer.

"My mom. She lives in the states and I'm her only child so she over compensates for her absence." He explained.

"That explains a lot. Can she adopt me? I promise I'll be the perfect daughter." I joked and he laughed opening the door at the far end of the hallway.

It opened to reveal a simple room with a huge bed in the middle with bedside drawers on either side and a small wardrobe in the far corner. There was a window with blue curtains that reached the floor. The bed was covered in a navy duvet and there was also a plush fur carpet next to the bed

"If this is the guest room I wonder what your room looks like." I teased.

"You're welcome to come check it out." He invited and I smiled.

"I was only joking. Anyway I think I'll call it a night too. That bed is calling my name." I commented.

"Well okay goodnight then. See you tomorrow."

"Goodnight Mason and thanks for everything." I then shocked us both by hugging him.

Mason hesitated for a moment before hugging me back and due to our height difference I was squished against his muscular chest. I inhaled his scent deeply and I almost got dizzy at how good he smelt. My top five turn-ons in a man were height, arm veins, abs, curly hair and having an amazing smell. Mason had them all and I nearly doubted he wasn't real. That thought was squished really quick seeing as I was hugging him.

We pulled away and he exited the room closing the door behind him. I heard his door shut turned to the bed. I took off the hood and placed it on the chair besides the bed. I needed a smoke but since I couldn't have one I had to force myself to sleep. I thought it was gonna be a struggle but as soon as I snuggled under the warm duvet I was out like a light. I really hoped the day wasn't a dream because I was in desperate need of good memories. That was my last thought before sleep carried me off to dreamland.
