Running Into a Ghost!

Huo Buyu immediately stood up, as if he was ready to take Zhou Chen on! Was he annoying or what? He was an ex-boyfriend, yet he continued to pester her! Was he ignoring the existence of her current boyfriend?!

Ye Yao quickly pulled Huo Buyu back. “What are you doing? Do you think he’ll have an easy time in my hands? I’ll handle it myself. You don’t have to do anything.”

Huo Buyu was instantly relieved to hear this. With Ye Yao’s jinxing ability, Zhou Chen could only become more tragic. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

“Deal with it yourself? How? By cursing him?” Gao Qiao asked Ye Yao curiously. “Ye Yao, are you a witch? Can you kill someone just by saying something?”

Ye Yao blinked. “Make a guess?”

Gao Qiao was stumped for a moment. He put down his chopsticks and immediately said, “I’ve got something to attend to. I should get going.”

Ye Yao and Huo Buyu looked at each other and guessed the reason for Gao Qiao’s sudden departure. He was probably frightened. However, Gao Qiao was in fact heading out to investigate and confirm his guess! As he was heading out, he spotted Zhou Chen driving away, so he drove after the car, eager to see what would happen to Zhou Chen!

Huo Buyu asked Ye Yao, “What did you do to Zhou Chen?”

The girl shrugged and answered, “It probably won’t work. I cursed him to encounter ghosts at night, but how can ghosts exist?” She was simply too frustrated and was compelled to curse Zhou Chen. Curses that had to do with life and death probably would not work, neither should curses that had to do with ghosts and such.

Huo Buyu also had an understanding of Ye Yao’s abilities. He knew that such illusory curses would not be realized. He did not expect Ye Yao’s curse on Zhou Chen to be this, and was a little disappointed. He shook his head and said, “You should probably reduce the use of your jinxing ability in the future.”

Ye Yao was displeased and argued, “What jinxing ability? That’s such a horrible term to use. Today, Little Uncle told me that with my ability, I’m probably a verbal virtuoso. Do you know about verbal virtuosos? Little Uncle said that some of our ancestors, at their peak, were able to see the future!”

Huo Buyu’s expression suddenly turned solemn. “So your ability is inherited?”

“I don’t think so. Little Uncle said that it’s been hundreds of years since someone with such an ability appeared in our family. Moreover, according to him, this trait is likely passed on to a family member in the direct line of descent. I’m not considered to be in the direct line of descent of the Yang family. Even if such a trait appeared, it should have fallen on Little Uncle.”

Ye Yao did not know much about these things. In fact, it would have been truly odd if she understood metaphysics and such mysteries! Anyway, she had obtained this ability for no reason back then. Sometimes, it was also inexplicably effective. She was confused and could not understand it.

Huo Buyu held her hand. “Alright, let’s not think about this anymore. Let’s go home.”

Guess what I saw when I was trailing Zhou Chen! He had to pass through a quiet road on the way home. I witnessed a lot of joss paper floating down along that road, for some reason. Then, there were two women in long white dresses with disheveled hair. Their tongues were unusually long. They looked like female ghosts right out of the movies! I was scared silly when I saw them!”

Ye Yao was stumped. Gao Qiao did not leave because he got scared. He left because he wanted to trail Zhou Chen? Why was he on Zhou Chen’s heels? Moreover, what did he mean? Did Zhou Chen encounter ghosts on the way home?

Ye Yao clutched her chest and was so frightened that she was unable to speak. Was her jinxing ability so strong that she could even summon ghosts?

She panicked, frightened by her own ability. Huo Buyu obviously understood the underlying meaning behind Gao Qiao’s words. He said, “Please continue.”

Gao Qiao started, “Hahaha, I actually didn’t manage to scare you! Zhou Chen was so scared by the female ghosts that he almost peed his pants. He even abandoned his car and started to run. And because it was dark, he couldn’t see the road clearly and tripped. Then he fainted. Immediately after, a group of people came running out. It turned out that a production team was filming a horror movie here. Zhou Chen had no idea and was just passing by. He thought that he’d seen a ghost and ended up in hospital. Hahaha, this is too fun!”

What Gao Qiao did not say was that he, too, thought he had seen a ghost. He was so frightened that he shrieked in the car, even though he was some distance away. By the time he drove over, the crew had all come out. Gao Qiao also realized that the crew was filming, not that there was really a ghost.
