Xander surprised Kat later that night, showing up at her doorstep with a massive bouquet of flowers. “I didn’t expect to see you again so soon, especially not this late,” she said, a hint of surprise in her voice.

“Apologies, but I just couldn’t resist seeing you again,” he replied, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “Well, since you’re here, I’ve finished some of the files you gave me. Why don’t you review them while I find a vase for these gorgeous flowers?”

He picked up the papers, but his attention was elsewhere. He was too busy watching her, captivated by her every move. “Can I get you something to drink?” she asked, breaking his trance.

Instead of answering, he walked over to her, gently turning her to face him. “There’s only one thing I want,” he said, his voice low and husky.

Before she could respond, his lips were on hers, pushing her back against the wall. His kiss was fiery and insistent, sending waves of heat coursing through her body. She felt herself being lifted and carried to the bedroom, her heart pounding in her chest.

Moments later, they were both naked, his warm, hard body pressing into hers. His desire for her was so intense that he skipped foreplay, yet she was ready for him. It was quick, but incredibly satisfying, and when it was over, he looked down at her, his eyes soft.

“I’ve been fantasizing about this all day,” he confessed, “and I’m sorry for not pleasuring you before I entered you. I hope you can forgive me.”

A grin spread across her face. “I will, but only on one condition.”

“You and your conditions,” he teased. “What is it this time?”

“I don’t just want you to fuck me. I want you to make love to me.”

His eyes lit up. “I’d be more than happy to oblige. Now close your eyes and enjoy what I’m about to do. First, I’ll turn you around and take you from behind.”

She gasped. “No, you can’t go in my bum.”

He chuckled. “No, I’ll enter you from behind. It’s a perfect angle to stimulate your G-spot and gives me control over the depth. You’ll love it. Then, I’ll turn you back around and make you come again.”

She bit into the pillow as he entered her from behind, a sensation she’d never experienced before. It was incredible, and he had her climaxing more than once. He seemed to have endless stamina, flipping her over and starting again each time he finished.

By the time he was done, dawn was breaking. He slipped into the bathroom to shower, leaving her to fall asleep. Despite the lack of sleep, he felt energized, ready to face the day.

Not wanting to disturb her, he dressed quietly and left a single rose and a note on her pillow. He kissed her forehead gently before leaving.

When she woke up and saw the rose, she smiled. Then, she read the note he’d left. ~Sorry, I had to leave so early. You looked like an angel while you slept, and I didn’t have the heart to wake you. I’ll call you later today.~

She was working on another file for Xander when her phone rang.

“Hi beautiful. I wanted to let you know I’ll be busy for a couple of days and won’t be able to see you.”

“That’s okay; I know you’re a busy man. I finished another file. Would you like me to fax it over to you?”

“That would be great. I’ll call you in two days; until then, dream about me when you sleep.”

“Goodbye, Xander.”

Two days later, Kurt called her. He said he had some good news and was coming over to share it. She knew it was about his promotion and decided to act surprised when he told her.

He arrived at her place an hour later, and when she opened the door, he enveloped her in a big hug. “I got the job.”

“Kurt, I’m so happy for you. I knew you would get it. Clara must be thrilled.”

“Yes, she is. We both are. Kat, this is an amazing opportunity for me. Mr. West called me into his office and gave me the good news. He wants to take me and Clara out to dinner to celebrate and meet her.”

“That’s wonderful.”

“He also said to bring you. I think you made quite the impression on him.”

“No, this is your night, and I don’t want to intrude.”

“Are you kidding? You could never be in the way, and I want you there. You know, there’s something different about you.”

“What do you mean?”

“I can’t quite put my finger on it. You seem more relaxed, happier.”

“Well, I’m happy for you.”

“No, that’s not it. Anyway, Clara and I will pick you up around seven.”

She was annoyed with Xander for suggesting to Kurt that she join them for dinner and planned to let him know at the first opportunity.

So, when Kurt picked her up that night, they were seated in the restaurant waiting for Xander to arrive. He finally showed up and walked over to the table.

“Sorry I’m late,” he said, looking at Kat. “It’s a pleasure to see you again.”

“Likewise,” she replied, her tone icy.

He was then introduced to Clara before sitting down next to Kat. “Waiter, bring us a couple of bottles of your best champagne.”

“Mr. West, I just want to thank you for giving my husband the CEO position.”

“He’s the best man for the job, and I know he won’t disappoint me. Tell me, Mrs. Reynolds, do you enjoy traveling?”

“Oh, absolutely.”

“That’s good because Kurt’s job will involve traveling to different countries to make speeches and close business deals. He’ll need a wife with charisma to charm potential clients.”

While he was chatting with Kurt and Clara, he placed his left hand on Kat’s thigh. She squirmed uncomfortably, trying to remove his hand without drawing attention.

When they ordered steak and lobster and were told they could pick out their lobster, Xander suggested that Kurt and Clara choose one for him and Kat.

As soon as they left, she slapped his hand away. “What are you doing?”

“What are you talking about?” he asked, feigning innocence.

“First, you told my brother to invite me, and now you’re touching me under the table. Are you trying to let them know something’s going on between us?”

He moved closer, his hand creeping further up her leg. “I missed you and wanted to see you. I also wanted to meet Kurt’s wife.”

“Then remove your hand.”

“I will when the food comes. Kiss me before they return.”

“No,” she snapped back.

Clara was sipping her champagne when she looked at Kat, admiring her dress. “That’s a beautiful dress, is it new?”

“Um…Yes, I just bought it.”

“It looks expensive.”

“It wasn’t.”

“No way, that’s a designer dress from Paris. I saw it in a magazine once.”

Xander noticed Kat’s growing discomfort and decided to intervene, shifting Clara’s focus from the dress.

“Mrs. Reynolds, I was saddened to hear about your father’s health. How is he faring now?”

“Thank you for your concern, Xander. He’s recovering well. We were all quite anxious when he had a relapse, but he’s a fighter and pulled through.”

Kat shot Xander a grateful smile, silently thanking him for diverting Clara’s attention.

Throughout dinner, Clara was engrossed in a business conversation with Xander and her husband, leaving Kat out.

Two more bottles of champagne were ordered, but neither Kat nor Xander partook.

By the time dinner was over, the couple was inebriated, and Kurt was in no condition to drive—just as Xander had anticipated.

“Kurt, you’ve had a bit too much to drink. I’ll arrange a cab for you and Clara. Since Kat lives close by, I’ll drop her home.”

Once he had safely tucked them into a cab, he turned to Kat, who was visibly upset.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“You intentionally got them drunk. Just so we could be alone.”

“Yes, I did. Clara wouldn’t stop talking, and I knew we wouldn’t get rid of them otherwise. Poor Kurt, he must be used to her constant chatter.”

She couldn’t help but laugh at his comment.

“You’re right, she does talk a lot. But Kurt loves her, and it doesn’t seem to bother him.”

He pulled her close, his arms encircling her waist.

“Come back with me. Spend the night at my place.”

“I’m not sure.”

“Come on, I want you to see my place. You’ll be spending a lot of time there.”

“Well, I am curious about how a bachelor like you lives. I’ll come, but I won’t stay the night. I hope that’s okay with you. If not, I can always come another time.”

“Why don’t we see how the night goes? I’m hoping you’ll change your mind.”

His home was not what she had expected. She had imagined a grand house or even a mansion. But it was a modest, beautifully kept home.

“So, what do you think?”

“It’s lovely, very cozy. I like it. But I thought you’d have something more extravagant.”

“Why would I need a huge house? Just because I have money doesn’t mean I need to flaunt it with a mansion.”

“That’s true, but I can’t imagine you cleaning this place.”

He laughed as he uncorked a bottle of wine.

“Me, clean? ~No way~. I wouldn’t know where to start. I have a cleaning service come in three times a week. But I do cook when I’m home. Come, let me show you the rest of the house,” he said, handing her a glass of wine.

She was impressed by the tastefully decorated house but wondered why he hadn’t shown her the master bedroom. Outside, there was a garden, a hot tub, and a swimming pool.

“It’s perfect.”

He took the wine glass from her hand and lifted her into his arms.

“I saved the best room for last.”

“And what room would that be?” she asked, pretending not to know.

“My bedroom.”

She ended up staying the night. When she woke up, he was not beside her. She took a quick shower, and feeling a bit daring, she slipped into one of his shirts and headed downstairs.

He turned as he heard her enter the kitchen, where he was preparing breakfast. Seeing her in his shirt stirred something in him.

“Damn, you look sexy as hell.”

Her cheeks flushed, and she fiddled with the shirt collar.

“I’m not sexy.”

He walked over and took her hands in his.

“Kat, you are beautiful and sexy. Don’t ever forget that. Seeing you in my shirt has made me lose my appetite for food, and it’s been replaced with something else.”

She gasped as he lifted her onto the table, ripping the buttons off the shirt. After pleasuring her with his tongue, he removed his pants and climbed on top of her.

“Xander, the eggs are burning.”

“Let them,” he said as he entered her.

Afterward, he helped her up and pulled on his pants, handing her the torn shirt.

She held the shirt closed with her fingers after putting it on.

“I’m going to get dressed now, and then I should go home.”

“While you’re doing that, I’ll make us some more food.”

“You don’t have to.”

“I won’t let you go home on an empty stomach. After last night, you must be hungry.”

He smiled as she walked away, knowing she was embarrassed about their kitchen table escapade. But he loved it, and it was a first for him.

When they reached her place, he walked her inside.

“I don’t want to leave, but I have some work to attend to. I’ll call you tomorrow, and we can go out somewhere. Maybe to a nice restaurant.”

“I have a better idea.”

“Really?”

“Yes. You always take me out to eat, so let me cook dinner for you. It won’t be anything fancy, but it’ll be edible.”

“I’m looking forward to it. See you later, sweet cheeks.”
