Chapter 60
Seeing Teresaâs reddened eyes, Victoria gave an inward sigh. âItâs okay. It doesnât hurt.â Her greatest
fear was to see a woman crying.
âHow could it not hurt?â Gabrielle disagreed while coming to her bedside. She said to Teresa, âWhen I
came here, I heard from some colleagues that Victoria couldnât even walk because of the pain she was
in. She was helped out by the manager and rushed to the hospital by security guards.â
The more Vincent listened to her words, the wider his eyes became. His handsome face was flushed
with rage, and his eyes had a pained look in them.
Teresa didnât say anything, but tears kept trickling down her cheeks.
The back of Victoriaâs hand was soon wet with tears. âIt only hurt at the time. Now it doesnât hurt
anymore.â She gave Gabrielle a warning look.
However, Gabrielle pretended not to see it and let out everything she knew. âThey even told me that the
skin of her leg above the knee was all red, with a dozen big blisters clustered together. It looked so
scaryââ
âAlright, thatâs enough. Stop it.â Victoria cut her short with a frown.
Gabrielle smiled sheepishly in a cautious and somewhat ingratiating manner.
Wiping her tears away, Teresa asked in a quavering voice, âAre you telling the truth about that?â
Victoria spoke before Gabrielle could. âThatâs just hearsay and exaggeration. Itâs not that bad, actually.â
Just then, the doctor opened the door with a click and came in. âWhat this lady said just now is no
exaggeration. If you hadnât torn off your pants sooner, the fabric might stick to the blisters, and youâd
suffer even more.â He wiped the back of Victoriaâs hand with an alcohol swab before inserting a needle
to put her on a drip.
Vincentâs eyes were bloodshot as he stood aside without making a sound. A moment later, he suddenly
took off his suit jacket and flung it onto the floor with all his might. âF*ck!â he swore. With that, he
stormed out of the room and banged the door shut.
âVincent!â Fearing that her brother might do something reckless on impulse, Victoria pulled out the
needle right away in an attempt to run out after him to stop him.
Teresa and the doctor held her down at the same time. âYou have to be put on a drip! Do you not want
your leg anymore?â the doctor said sternly.
Victoria was inwardly anxious. She wanted to stand up, but she couldnât do so with the two holding her
down. âLet go of me first, you two. It wonât make a difference to wait until I come back before putting me
on a drip!â
âIâll look for your brother. You keep still and stay here on your IV drip!â Teresa looked panic-stricken.
Without waiting for Victoriaâs reply, she said to Gabrielle, who was standing aside in a trance, âMiss,
please look after Tori for a moment and donât let her out. Iâll be back in a while.â
âHuh? Oh, uh, okay!â Gabrielle replied while helping the doctor hold Victoria down.
Victoria struggled for a long time with all her might, but it didnât do much other than cause the doctor to
insert the needle in the wrong spot a few times. She pleaded with a frown, âGabrielle, doctor, please let
go of me. I promise that Iâll come back for my IV drip later!â
âJust stay here with your IV drip. Your sister-in-law has gone to catch up to your brother,â Gabrielle said
while avoiding Victoriaâs gaze.
Victoria licked her parched lips before saying bitterly, âYou donât understand.â Vincent mustâve gone to
Delta Club to kick up a fuss. If Christian learns about it, he wonât let him off.
Gabriel didnât make a sound, nor did she relax her hold on Victoria.
On the other hand, the doctor was simmering with anger at this moment. He still had a lot of patients to
take care of, but he had spent a long time here for pretty much nothing. âI do understand, but youâre
gonna lose your leg if you keep on thrashing around.â
The furrows in Victoriaâs brow deepened; itâd been almost ten minutes since Vincent stormed off.
âGabrielle, donât you worry that Iâll come after you after returning to the Coleman Family later if you
donât do as I say right now?â
âP-Perhaps you can never return to your family.â Gabrielleâs voice gradually sank to a whisper as she
spoke. âEven if you manage to do so, your sister-in-law and others wonât let you come after me⦠I
guess.â
Victoria pursed her lips and gave up struggling. All of a sudden, she felt unusually lonely. Her family
and friends had abandoned her. Even Gabrielle, to whom she was closest at the moment, bowed to
power and reality.
Meanwhile, Teresa ran all the way to the hospitalâs entrance after Vincent, but she failed to catch up to
him in the end. When she arrived at the entrance, he had started up his car and sped off. She hurriedly
hailed a taxi and said to the driver, âPlease catch up with the Ferrari over there.â
Fearing that she was some criminal, the taxi driver looked at her with a peculiar expression without
moving for a long time.
Teresa said, âThatâs my husbandâs car! I just saw him get into it with a woman in his arms, but I donât
know where theyâre going.â She looked very anxious, and her reddened eyes made her seem
extremely pitiable.
âDonât worry, maâam!â The taxi driver had a warm heart. âIâll catch up with him right away and make
sure that I wonât lose him!â
After the Ferrari and the taxi pulled up in front of Delta Club one after another, Teresa hastily handed
the taxi driver a 100-dollar note. Then, she hurriedly caught up with Vincent ahead of her.
âThereâs no woman in the car. Was she seeing things?â the taxi driver muttered before driving away.
Teresa ran after Vincent in her heels for a long time, but she didnât manage to catch up to him. âV-
Vincent, w-wait for me!â Getting tired from running, she put her hands on her knees and gasped for
breath with no concern for her image.
Vincent ignored her, though. As soon as he entered the clubhouse, he violently knocked over the two
vases in the hall, causing them to topple over with a loud crash.
âMr. Coleman, what can weââ A staff member came over and attempted to ask him what was going
on.
Vincent didnât give him the opportunity at all. Instead, he directly toppled the devilâs ivy on the rack to
the ground with a kick. His eyes were bloodshot as he growled, âWhere is your manager? Tell her to
come out!â
The pot of devilâs ivy rolled on the floor before the flowerpot broke into pieces, scattering thnovelxo.com
fast updatee soil all over the place and instantly turning the splendidly decorated hall into a complete
mess.
Many who visited the clubhouse were regulars, many of which knew Vincent personally. They wanted
to come over and calm the latter down so that Christian, the clubhouseâs owner, would owe them a
debt of gratitude. However, Vincent refused to acknowledge anyone. Running amok like a bull in a
china shop, he smashed up the place as he spoke.
Trying to be clever, someone leaned close to Vincentâs ear and advised, âLook how miserable your
sister is after offending Mr. Thatcher! Mr. Coleman, if you donât want to become as miserable as she is,
youâd better find a way to apologize to him as soon as possible. Just say that youâre drunk; itâs normal
to act crazy when youâre drunk⦠Aaah!â
Vincent punched the person in the nose as veins stood out on his neck. âJust look at yourself in the
mirror. What the hell makes you qualified to mention my sister?â
Letting out cries of pain, the person covered his nose as blood ran between his fingers. However, he
left with his tail between his legs, not daring to say another word.
On the other hand, Vincentâs heart was almost torn apart by the anger and remorse that welled up in
his chest. âTell your manager to come out!â
Teresa wanted to stop him at first, but after seeing him like this at this very moment, she opened her
mouth without saying a word. Instead, she merely stood beside him in silence with a conflicted look in
her eyes.
âMr. Coleman, youâd better keep your voice down. Both Mr. Thatcher and Miss Spritz are here,â said
the staff member gingerly.
âThatâs b*llsh*t! Do you think that Iâm scared of them?!â Seeing a waiter wheeling a food tray past him,
Vincent dashed over, grabbed a stack of plates, and smashed them onto the floor with a loud clatter.
âChristian and Bella are here? Tell them to come down here in front of me then!â
A group of people surrounded him, but no one said anything.
