Chapter 51
âYou have misunderstood us, Mrs. Thatcher.â If this happened two years back, Victoriaâs heart would
flutter for such a misunderstanding. Right now, though, she didnât dare to have such wishful thinking
and didnât want to have anything to do with Christian so that he wouldnât think that she had ulterior
motives.
Her emotions were unnoticed by him, and he smirked while saying, âYou can do anything today since
you are the birthday girl.â
âYouâre so cheeky.â Evelyn smiled and tucked her hair behind her ears before looking over at Victoria.
âDoes the gown fit well?â
Hearing that, Victoria tilted her head and glanced at Christian.
âIâm asking you a question, but why are you looking at him?â Evelyn was amused.
Hearing that, he casually leaned on the railing and responded, âProbably because Iâm better looking?â
âYouâre so vain.â Evelyn chuckled as she looked at Victoria and asked, âWhy does the gown look
different from before, though?â
âMy breasts have become smaller; the gown kept slipping down, so they altered it for me.â Victoria
moved her body, her cheeks flushing red.
Upon hearing that, Christian furrowed his brows as he took a quick glance at her before looking away.
âI see.â Evelyn seemed to be deep in thought. âActually, you donât need to have it altered. If your
breasts have become smaller, you can just wear a thicker padding underneath.â
Victoria pursed her lips and was lost for words after hearing Evelynâs suggestion.
âItâs alright. Donât be sad. Christian isnât someone shallow.â Evelyn held onto her hand and patted on it
before asking Christian with a smile, âAm I right?â
He merely smirked and kept quiet as he glanced at Victoria.
âMrs. Thatcher, you have misunderstood. Mr. Thatcher has feelings for Miss Spritz, so I will not be
delusional like I used to be.â Her face was pale, and she spoke faster than usual.
Hearing that, his gaze darkened and he replied coldly, âAt least youâre aware of this.â He then walked
away without looking back and said, âIâll go up and change my shirt.â
Seeing that, Victoria got nervous as he seemed mad at her and assumed that he had misunderstood
her for having wishful thinking.
âI donât think that he knows who he likes.â Evelyn glanced at his back and said, âAlright, letâs not talk
about such an upsetting matter anymore. Since most of the guests have arrived, letâs go downstairs
and walk around.â
Victoria was aware that her presence would put Evelyn in a tight spot, and she didnât want to
inconvenience her. âMrs. Thatcher, Iâ¦â
âI know your character. We canât control what others say, so letâs just ignore them.â Evelyn smiled and
held onto Victoriaâs hand. âLetâs go,â she said.
Hearing that, Victoria followed behind her with mixed feelings.
As soon as they got down, they bumped into Denise, who was surprised to see them coming down
hand in hand. âMrs. Thatcher, can I please speak to Victoria privately?â
âYou may, but before that, Iâd like to know whether youâre going to speak to her as her mother or Mrs.
Coleman.â
Hearing that, Denise furrowed her brows as she felt that she was being put in a tough spot.
âMrs. Thatcher, why donât you go and greet the guests first? Iâll be there shortly.â Knowing that her
mother was a softie, Victoria decided to get Denise out of the situation.
âAlright.â Evelyn nodded and left.
As Denise looked around, she whispered to Victoria, âTori, letâs talk somewhere else. There are too
many people here.â
Does she think that Iâm an embarrassment? Why would she want to speak to me? Victoria thought to
herself, but she eventually agreed to her motherâs request.
After they found a quiet corner, Denise asked her worriedly, âTori, they said that youâd do anything for
moneyâ¦â She paused before continuing, âDid you really sell your body?â
âI didnât.â Victoria looked down as her gaze darkened.
âIn that case, why are you working at Delta Club?â Denise hesitated before asking.
âYou donât believe me, do you?â Tears welled up in her eyes as she lifted her gaze.
Why? Itâs all because Christian threatened me with the Coleman Family!
âItâs not that I donât believe in you.â Denise avoided her gaze and added, âYou should quit your job there
and look for a proper job.â She then took a credit card out from her purse and handed it over to Victoria.
âThe pin number is your birthdate. Thereâs five hundred thousand in it, which will be sufficient for a
period of time. You can let me know if you need more money. Iâll transfer more to you.ânovelxo.com fast

âNo thanks.â Victoria merely looked at the card and didnât accept it. âI wonât look for another job.â She
knew very well that Christian wouldnât agree to it.
âTori, youâ¦â Denise looked at her in disbelief while holding onto the card.
âIs there anything else? If there isnât, I should look for Mrs. Thatcher.â Victoria pursed her lips as she
suppressed her despair.
âBe honest with me. Are you working there because⦠You want to live the life that you used to live?â
Denise couldnât bring herself to mention that Victoria was there to look for a sugar daddy or a wealthy
boyfriend.
Victoria was so disappointed at her motherâs question that her eyes widened and tears started rolling
down her cheeks. She wiped the tears away and answered without looking back, âIâll go look for Mrs.
Thatcher.â
âTori! Tori!â Denise called out for her anxiously.
However, Victoria didnât stop and walked away in a daze. She didnât care if other people thought of her
like that, but she was really disappointed that her own mother thought of her that way too.
âWere you at a loss for words when Mrs. Coleman guessed it correctly?â asked Lucas as he grabbed
her wrist from behind. He was initially there to look for his sister, but instead, he saw what happened.
âMr. Spritz, donât you think itâs rude of you to eavesdrop on other peopleâs conversation?â She struggled
to free herself from his grip.
âAnswer me!â Lucas raised his voice as he stared at her.
âIâm not obliged to answer your question.â She turned around and left as she was in a horrible mood.
Although she used to be close to the Spritz siblings, she couldnât stand the sight of them now.
âYouâd rather sell your body to live a lavish life, am I right?â Lucas walked over to her and put his hands
on her shoulder before questioning her. Everyone looked over at their direction after hearing what
Lucas said.
âItâs none of your business.â She was extremely annoyed at how nosy he was and just wanted to get
away from him, but she couldnât do so. âDonât forget that Scarlett is your girlfriend. Arenât you worried
that sheâd misunderstand after seeing us together?â
âIâm asking you a question!â He tightened his grip on her shoulder. He knew that he shouldnât care
about her anymore, but he just couldnât bring himself to do so. Victoria then tilted her head and bit his
arm before running away when he released his grip in pain.
Just as he was about to chase after her, Scarlett, who heard the commotion, went up to stop him.
âDonât forget that Iâm your girlfriend.â
âBoth of us know very well whether or not we are a real couple. Step aside!â He stretched his hands out
to push her out of his way
