Chapter 50
Victoriaâs body froze as she followed the everyone elseâs gaze, watching as Christian walked out of the
crowd. The sunlight shone on him and cast shadow on his collarbone, which made him even more
attractive. She subconsciously gazed at his crotch and couldnât tell how his injury was, but as she took
a closer look, she noticed that the way he walked was unnatural.
âHave you seen enough? Hmm?â He walked up to her and leaned in before whispering in her ear.
Hearing that, she slowly turned her gaze away and whispered back, âIâm sorryâ¦â
The crowd couldnât hear what they were saying and started discussing among themselves when they
saw how intimate Christian and Victoria were from how they whispered in each otherâs ears. Rumor
had it that both of them were on bad terms, but their interaction proved otherwise! Seeing that, Bella bit
her lip and clenched her fists while sitting in her wheelchair.
âWhat do you mean, Christian?â Nancy, who was surprised by his reply, snapped, âVictoria almost killed
Bella in the car crash, so how could you invite her to the birthday party?â
On the other hand, Glen started at Christian while being deep in thought.
âMrs. Spritz, I believe that itâs none of your business who my mother invites to her birthday party. Donât
you think that youâre being nosy?â Christian smirked.
âPlease donât misunderstand. Thatâs not my intention.â Nancy didnât dare to lecture Christian although
she was older than him. âI just think thatâ¦â
âItâs fine if thatâs not your intention,â he interrupted her coldly and turned around before walking away.
After taking a few steps, he paused and looked over at Victoria as he frowned. âArenât you coming
along?â
âIâll be taking my leave, then,â said Victoria while looking down. Just as she was about to leave, she
tugged her gown while scanning the room before saying sarcastically, âJust so you know, Mrs. Thatcher
prepared this dress for me, and I didnât get it by sleeping with someone. Miss Spritz, please get your
facts right before you say anything. Had it been someone else in my position, you would have been
sued for defamation.â
The atmosphere was awkward, and Bellaâs parents were embarrassed when they heard what Victoria
said.
âIâm sorry for causing the misunderstanding.â Bella placed both her hands on her knees and apologized
earnestly. âI hope that you wonât take it to heart. I was just worried that youâd go down the wrong path.â
âPeople would say that Iâm being ungrateful if I said that I was offended by your words.â After glancing
over at the displeased Glen, Victoria left and chased after Christian as she was worried that he was
getting impatient.
Bellaâs eyes flickered as she stared at Christian and Victoriaâs leaving figures. âYou should avoid
Victoria next time. She might do something bad to you while we arenât around,â Kevin said sternly.
âDad, youâve said this so many times that I can memorize every word of it.â She sighed.
âYou can memorize every word, but you donât do as youâre told.â Nancy poked her forehead before
telling Glen and Denise, âGlen, Denise, shouldnât you be keeping an eye on your daughter? Iâm sorry
for being rude, but if that murderer tries to hurt my daughter again, I will sue her and let her spend the
rest of her life in prison! I will also stop all collaborations with your company!â Nancy exclaimed.
âIt is our fault for not raising her well, and we apologize for the trouble that she has caused you.
However, Iâm sure youâre aware that our family has severed ties with her, so we are not in the position
to tell her off. We seek your understanding on this,â Glen apologized.
Before Nancy could say anything, Kevin responded, âAlright, itâs not their fault. Glen, the owner of the
new raw material company I mentioned earlier is here. Letâs go and greet him.â
Hearing that, Glen nodded. âLuke, come join us,â Kevin suggested. After the three men left, Denise
came up with a reason and left as well.
âBella, whatâs wrong with Christian? How could he invite Victoria over when she almost killed you?â
Nancy asked with a grim expression when she saw that there was no one around.
âIâm not sure, but Mrs. Thatcher has always liked her more than me. I think sheâs the one who invited
Victoria over,â Bella said with a smile.
âIt doesnât matter who invited her over, but it obviously seemed like Christian had her back. Donât tell
me that he has feelings for her!â Nancy furrowed her brows.
âYouâre overthinking it, Mom,â Bella replied softly, but she was unsure about it too.
Nancy then squatted down and looked her in the eye. âI might be right. If he doesnât have feelings for
her, why hasnât he proposed to you in the last two years?â Bellaâs gaze darkened as she bit her lip
when she heard what Nancy said.
âBella, you might think that Iâm only nagging, but let me tell you thisâmen are all greedy. You have to
keep a close eye on him so that he doesnât get snatched away by the vixen, yet youâre still trying to be
friends with her!â Nancy nagged.
âChristian isnât someone like that. Heâs different from Dad.â Bella regretted the moment she said that.
âMomââ she called out.
âSince your friends are here, you should go hang out with them. Iâll go look for a few of our relatives.â
The embarrassed Nancy got up and left.novelxo.com fast update
After her mother left, Bella rubbed the space in between her brows and sighed.
Meanwhile, on the spiral stairs, Victoria was hesitant to speak as she followed behind Christian. She
wanted to thank him for his help but was worried that he would mock her about it. She also wanted to
ask him about his injury, but she didnât dare do so.
âWhy are you still following me?â he asked nonchalantly, pausing his footsteps.
Luckily, Victoria was able to stop in time and didnât collide with him. Being close to him made her feel
uncomfortable, so she took a step back before uttering, âEarlier on⦠thank you.â
âDo you think that Iâm helping you out? He chuckled before lifting her chin with his finger to make her
look at him. âI didnât want you to ruin my motherâs birthday party.â
Both of them stood so close to each other that all she could see was him. She lowered her gaze as she
tried to suppress her emotions. âIt doesnât matter what your intention was, but I should thank you for
getting me out of that sticky situation.â
âIf I knew that my actions wouldâve gotten you out of the situation, I should have kept quiet.â Compared
to the passionate Victoria two years ago, she seemed cold and exhausted now, and it made him feel
uncomfortable. He frowned as he let go of her chin.
Just then, Evelyn was heard asking, âIs this a bad time for me to be here?
