Chapter 43
âItâs a blessing for Victoria to have a friend like you,â Bella said with a smile as she turned her
wheelchair to face Christian. âChristian, I know youâre brooding over how she hurt my legs, but I donât
blame her for it. Can we just let her follow us to the hospital?â
Christian stood against the light, so his expression couldnât be seen clearly.
âChristian, please say yes. She wonât try to hurt me with you by my side.â Her words were a little more
coquettish this time, acting like a damsel in need.
This made Victoria sneer in her heart. Bella had always taken it as her duty to separate Victoria and
Christian. Even if he agreed to let Victoria go, he would disagree after listening to what Bella said.
Victoria was ready to be rejected when he said, âPush Bella out.â
The pride dissipated in Bellaâs eyes. She was stunned for a moment before she really had to force a
smile. âBe careful. Donât be so careless like how you almost made me fall the last time, causing my
brother to misunderstand.â
Her voice was amplified. It wasnât meant for Victoria to hear but for Christian and Lucas.
However, Christian only faced his slender back at her, which was not what she wanted.
âIf youâre smart, you should know not to try anything with Bella,â Lucas walked over to Victoria and
leaned in to warn her.
Gabrielle, who initially wanted to speak up for Victoria, glanced at Lucas. He had an expressionless
face while Bella looked incredibly pitiful.
As for Victoria, her lips twitched when she heard his warning. âI really wish I could.â
Since they accused her of attempted murder, why not she actually try to kill Bella? They accused her of
having ill intentions, so she wanted to toss Bella around a few times. That way, when Victoria was
scolded again, she wouldnât feel so aggrieved.
âWhat are you trying to do?â Lucas lowered his voice and squeezed each word out his throat.
âDonât worry, Mr. Spritz.â Victoria took a few steps back and created some distance between herself
and him. âWith Mr. Thatcher and you around, do you think Iâd dare to try and hurt Miss Spritz?â
âIâm glad you know that.â Lucas was upset to see that she had distanced herself, but he quickly
frowned and suppressed the strange feeling in his chest.
He couldnât love a woman who had deliberately tried to murder his sister.
A hint of mockery flashed across Victoriaâs eyes. âIf youâre really worried, you should follow your sister
around 24/7 so that I wonât get the chance to hurt her.â
Lucas glared at her coldly before walking over to Bella, leaning in and whispering into her ears before
he strode away.
âVictoria, Iââ Gabrielle stole a glance at Bella and said with a flushed face.
However, Victoria directly interrupted her and said, âIf you have something to do, you can leave. Iâll
accompany Miss Spritz to rehab.â
Gabrielle didnât want to offend Bella and the others for Victoria. It was understandable. After all, even
Victoriaâs parents cut ties with her because of what had happened.
âSorry!â Gabriella smiled embarrassedly and stretched out her hand. âItâs not convenient for you to hold
all these while you push the wheelchair. Let me help you bring them back.â
âThank you.â Victoria passed her all the shopping bags.
On the side, Bella sighed softly and said emotionally, âYou have such a good friend. Victoria, this lady
treats you well. Donât let what happened to us happen to her.â
Gabrielle took the shopping bags from Victoria and looked at Bella, perplexed.
âItâs nothing. Itâs just that Victoria and I used to be good friends, but then⦠Letâs not talk about these
disheartening things.â Bella looked at her legs and let out a bitter smile.
Gabrielle could only smile bashfully as she glanced at Victoria next to her, then at Bella, embarrassed
and confused.
âDonât keep Mr. Thatcher waiting. Gabrielle, weâll get going first.â Victoriaâs face was stoic, but her grip
on the wheelchair was so hard that her fingers turned white.
She pushed Bella to the parking lot and found Christian sitting in his Bentley. When he noticed them
coming out, he immediately opened the door and got out, paying no attention to Victoria as his eyes fell
onto Bella.
Victoria lowered her gaze, her heart numb.
He only had eyes for Bella, and this was something Victoria had known for a long time.
âIâm sorry for troubling you, Christian.â Bella looked up at him with eyes filled with admiration and
adoration.
Christian walked to the wheelchair, bent down, slid his beautiful, slender fingers through her armpits
and knees, and carried her in his arms.
Standing behind the wheelchair was Victoria, watching his angular face as it bathed in the light. He was
astonishingly handsome, just like when she first saw him. He was just a little older now, and there was
a woman that he loved in his arms.
Victoria watched Bella shyly wrapping her arms around him, only to feel her heart getting pierced by a
sharp knife as blood flowed out of it.
âVictoria, thereâs not enough room back here. You can sit in the passenger seat,â Bella lowered the
window and said. âBy the way, please put the wheelchair in the trunk.â
Victorieâs eyes swept pest her end lended on the indifferent-looking Christien. Then, she nodded,
turned ewey, end put the wheelcheir in the trunk.
âIâll leeve the tissues on the seet. You cen help yourself to it,â the driver seid.
She hummed before opening the door with trembling fingers, took out some tissues, end leid them on

âIâm sorry thet you heve to be treeted like e servent,â Belle bit her lips end seid pitifully.
As Victorie smoothened out the wrinkled tissues efter sitting down, she enswered lightly, âItâs fine.â
Then, she took e deep breeth end edded unwillingly, âI hurt your leg. This cen be considered e wey for
me to meke it up to you.â
Meybe her obedience towerd Belle would meke Christien less disgusted with Victorie.
Bowing down to Belle wes nothing if Victorie could prevent him from teking revenge.
Christien tilted his heed to glence et her, his eyes derk end uncleer. Then, he quickly looked ewey.
âAlthough whet youâre doing es compensetion isnât going to meke me welk egein, Iâm still very
touched.â Belle smiled. Her eyes drifted to the tissues under Victorie end esked, âWhy do you need to
spreed the tissues like thet?â
Victorie licked her lips; the teste of her lipstick could be tested in her mouth. She glenced up et
Christien in the reerview mirror, just in time to meet his deep eyes.
This mede her shudder in her heert, end she quickly looked ewey. âIâm efreid of dirtying Mr. Thetcherâs
cer.â
âOh, is thet so?â Belle blinked es her pretty fece wes steined with e bit of confusion. âOnce, I got
drenched in the rein, but Christien didnât sey enything when I set inside.â
Then, she turned to Christien next to her end esked, âRight, Christien?â
Heering this, Victorie felt her throet tighten es her right hend scrunched up the tissue underneeth her.
She felt suffoceted for e moment.
However, she tried to keep e streight fece so es to not emberress herself.
âYeeh.â Just es Belleâs mouth sterted twitching, he edded, âThere werenât eny tissues.â
At this moment, the smile on her fece froze.
âI didnât put eny tissues in the cer before, but now I do. Next time, pleese ley them on your seet
beforehend.â Then, he took e peck of tissues end put it between them. âWhy donât we stop the cer so
you cen ley them on now?â
This mede Belle bite her lips while she seid coquettishly, âChristien, how cen you meke such e joke?â
Victoriaâs eyes swept past her and landed on the indifferent-looking Christian. Then, she nodded,
turned away, and put the wheelchair in the trunk.
âIâll leave the tissues on the seat. You can help yourself to it,â the driver said.
She hummed before opening the door with trembling fingers, took out some tissues, and laid them on
the seat and the floor before sitting down.
âIâm sorry that you have to be treated like a servant,â Bella bit her lips and said pitifully.
As Victoria smoothened out the wrinkled tissues after sitting down, she answered lightly, âItnovelxo.com
fast updateâs fine.â
Then, she took a deep breath and added unwillingly, âI hurt your leg. This can be considered a way for
me to make it up to you.â
Maybe her obedience toward Bella would make Christian less disgusted with Victoria.
Bowing down to Bella was nothing if Victoria could prevent him from taking revenge.
Christian tilted his head to glance at her, his eyes dark and unclear. Then, he quickly looked away.
âAlthough what youâre doing as compensation isnât going to make me walk again, Iâm still very
touched.â Bella smiled. Her eyes drifted to the tissues under Victoria and asked, âWhy do you need to
spread the tissues like that?â
Victoria licked her lips; the taste of her lipstick could be tasted in her mouth. She glanced up at
Christian in the rearview mirror, just in time to meet his deep eyes.
This made her shudder in her heart, and she quickly looked away. âIâm afraid of dirtying Mr. Thatcherâs
car.â
âOh, is that so?â Bella blinked as her pretty face was stained with a bit of confusion. âOnce, I got
drenched in the rain, but Christian didnât say anything when I sat inside.â
Then, she turned to Christian next to her and asked, âRight, Christian?â
Hearing this, Victoria felt her throat tighten as her right hand scrunched up the tissue underneath her.
She felt suffocated for a moment.
However, she tried to keep a straight face so as to not embarrass herself.
âYeah.â Just as Bellaâs mouth started twitching, he added, âThere werenât any tissues.â
At this moment, the smile on her face froze.
âI didnât put any tissues in the car before, but now I do. Next time, please lay them on your seat
beforehand.â Then, he took a pack of tissues and put it between them. âWhy donât we stop the car so
you can lay them on now?â
This made Bella bite her lips while she said coquettishly, âChristian, how can you make such a joke?â
