Chapter 19 I Said Kneel!
âYou just have to humiliate yourself like this, donât you?â Lucas strode over to Victoria and clasped her
wrist. The person Christian likes is Bella, not you! Nothing you do will ever change that!â
âI know that Mr. Thatcher likes your sister. You donât have to reiterate.â Victoria struggled to break free a
few times to no avail. âPlease let go of me. I need to finish my job.â
There was a flashing light at the end of the corridor. Victoria looked in that direction reflexively, but she
didnât see anything there.
My lack of sleep is probably making me see things.
Lucas, on the other hand, didnât let go after hearing her words but only tightened his grip. âDo you really
like Christian that much? So much so that youâre willing to be a cleaner just to stay by his side?â
âDoes my love for him have anything to do with you?â Victoria smirked icily. âEven if I like you, would
you want to be with the perpetrator who tried to kill your sister?â
Lucas pursed his lips before releasing her. âWhy did you have to run over Bella? You and Christian
were already getting engaged. She wouldnât have been a threat at all.â
âNo reason. I just felt like it,â Victoria mumbled with drooping eyelids.
Are you saying that I ran over Bella? Huh, are you so sure that my car hit her and not the other way
round?
âHow is it that you can be so wicked?!â Lucas interrogated. âYouâre Bellaâs best friend. You should know
that as a dancer, dancing is her life! Now that youâve broken her leg, her lifeâs ruined! Do you know how
miserable sheâs been in the past two years?!â
âWhat does her misery have to do with me? Someone as wicked as me loves to see my friends in
misery. after all. The more awful her life, the happier I am.â
Could Bellaâs life in the past two years be worse than mine in prison?!
Lucas couldnât believe she would actually say such words. Sure, she used to be a little insolent, but
never this vicious. Is this actually who she is instead?
âColeman, Mr. Spritz is a customer. How dare you speak to a customer like that!â Cameron approached
the two. âKneel! Apologize to Mr. Spritz!â
However, Victoria just lowered her head and kept her gaze on the floor, unmoving.
âDo you not speak English?! I said to kneel!â Cameron raised his voice.
At that, Victoria licked her dry lips and dropped to the floor with a lowered head, staring at her
reflection. Iâm sorry, Mr. Spritz.â
She had just mopped the floor, so it was still wet, and now that she was kneeling, the water very quickly
dampened her uniform.
Her legs felt cold and painful as well because of the bruises she had gotten from kneeling outside a few
days ago.
Meanwhile, Lucas looked down at her and said nothing.
A few customers happened to be passing by, and they took a few ganders at Victoria.
One of them, who was a baby-faced young woman, couldnât stand it anymore and came up with a
frown. âWhatâs going on? Weâre already living in the 21st Century; how is it that people are still forced
to kneel?! Come on, stand up! Are you an idiot? Just because they asked you to kneel doesnât mean
you should actually do so!â She pulled Victoria up before either Lucas or Victoria could say anything.
Janice, donât meddle in other peopleâs businesses!â A man came and pulled the woman aside before
turning to Lucas. âMy friend just arrived in Bloomsway. She doesnât know any better. Please forgive her,
Mr. Spritz. Iâll take her away this instant.â
âIâm not going anywhere! What kind of man is he to bully a woman?!â Janice Mooney stood in
novelxo.com fast updatebetween Lucas and Victoria with her arms akimbo, making the man beyond
apprehensive. However, Janice wouldnât leave no matter what he said.
âThank you.â Victoria pushed her aside gently. âIâm good. You should go and enjoy yourself with your
friends.
Though the young woman stood up for her out of kindness, she couldnât drag her into the mud.
âSee, she says that sheâs fine. Donât meddle in it anymore. Come on, hurry up. Letâs go!â The man and
another woman dragged Janice with all their might, but the young woman still didnât want to give up.
turning her head around to shout, âIâm in Room 4502. Come to me if you need help!â
Victoria nodded at her with a smile, but the smile disappeared as soon as she turned back around.
âI wonât give a damn about you anymore since you like being tortured so much!â Lucasâ gaze turned
complicated when he saw her changing her expression in a split second. Then, he pulled out a tube of
ointment, which he had asked someone to bring from abroad, and shoved it in her hands. He was sure
her legs were filled with bruises when she had kneeled for so long the other day.
However, Victoria shoved it back into his hands without even looking at it. âItâs my business how I want
to torture myself. It has nothing to do with you, and I donât need you to give a damn about me either.â
