Chapter 16 Two Years Cannot Change a Personâs Nature
Christianâs intimidating aura and piercing gaze could seemingly see through everything, causing Bella
to take a nervous step back as a hint of panic flashed across her eyes. âYes, Victoria said that sheâll be
with Lucas if he breaks up with Scarlett,â she said weakly, leading Christian to sneer, allowing the frost
beneath his eyes to spread.
He knew it! Two years certainly couldnât change a personâs nature.
âChristian.â Bella felt absolutely uncomfortable at the thought of what she saw the second she came in.
âVictoria still wants to hook up with you while keeping an ambiguous relationship with my brother. Who
knows if she has any STDs when sheâs so licentious. Best that you stay away from her.â
The frost beneath Christianâs eyes deepened upon hearing the word âlicentious. âWho are you to tell me
to stay away from whoever?â
âChristian, please donât get me wrong. Iâm just worried about you.â Bellaâs eyes turned red with
oncoming tears in an instant, making her look exceptionally pitiful.
However, the man only looked coldly at her and said nothing.
âChristian, I really have your best interests at heart,â she reiterated defenselessly, biting her lip.
âI know better than anyone what your purpose is.â Christian bypassed her and walked toward the door
as a hint of disgust flashed across his eyes. âDonât think about using your dirty tricks on me.â
Blood drained from Bellaâs face instantly, but when she wanted to say more, he had already strode
away.
As she leaned against her crutches, she looked down at her bad left leg with ferocity and pain. âWhy
canât you see all that Iâve done for you, Christian?â
After returning to the dorm. Victoria leaned against the door with a hollow gaze.
Moments later, she seemed to recollect something and rubbed her bleeding lip viciously.
But as she did so, tears rolled down her eyes and into her mouth, making the blood-laced tears bitter
with a hint of metallic taste.
She sat dazedly for about ten-plus minutes before dragging her sore body into bed.
She had no time to be sad or cry, for sheâd have to get back to work after six hours of sleep.
Alas, her day was destined to be agonizing. novelxo.com fast update
Her stomach began burning excruciatingly not long after she lay down.
âWhatâs wrong?â Gabrielle was startled when she saw Victoriaâs pallid face as soon as she entered
through the door.
Victoria tugged her lips and answered, âNothing. Itâs just an old gastric problem. Because of the
sickness, her voice was a little hoarse.
âLetâs get some gastric pills, then. You canât just suck it up and bare with it, can you?â Gabrielle tugged
at her. âThereâs a pharmacy nearby. Iâll go with you.â
âThanks.â
Just when the girls were about to hail a taxi after making a purchase at the local pharmacy, they heard
someone calling out, âTori?â
Victoriaâs pupils shrunk as her lips trembled. The voice was very familiar to her.
âTori, is it really you?â A handsome young man that looked somewhat like Victoria approached them
and patted Victoriaâs shoulder in glee.
Victoria parted her lips and wanted to greet her brother, but she couldnât utter a word. It felt like
something had jammed her throat..
âIâll be right over there,â said Gabrielle, to which Victoria nodded.
âWhy havenât you come looking for me?â Unconcealing distress and guilt surged beneath Vincentâs
eyes at the sight of his dear sisterâs thin clothing.
Back then, the Coleman Family had abandoned Victoria to save themselves. Vincent pleaded and
begged their family, only to be locked up. There was nothing he could do but watch them put Victoria
behind
bars.
âI hadnât managed to do so,â said Victoria with pain as she tucked a lock of errant hair behind her ear.
Initially, she wanted to take a last look at her family before saying goodbye to the world. Who would
have thought sheâd bump into Christian mid-plan?
A gust of autumn wind blew over, making her shrink her body from the chilliness.
The next second, a suit jacket was draped over her shoulders. âWhy wonât you put on a jacket if you
feel cold? Also, whatâs with the outfit? Donât only cleaning ladies wear something like this? When has
your taste dropped so low?â
Victoria drooped her eyelids in response, concealing the emotions surging beneath her eyes. Tâm a
cleaning lady now, and this is my uniform.â
Vincent was rendered stupefied with incredulity.
To think the sister he babied and spoiled so much was now a cleaning lady!
