Chapter 140
Everyoneâs face was grim when they heard it, but as the younger generations of the Ford Family, no
one dared to say anything about Henry due to the familyâs strict rules.
Lucas was furious and scowled. âDaisy is a woman from the red-light district. Do you know what the
others said about us when they knewâ¦â He paused for a moment as it was too embarrassing to say it.
âThat she is pregnant with your child?â
Henry furrowed his brows as he appeared displeased with Lucasâ words. âHer family forced her to be in
the red-light district; you canât blame it on her. As for the gossip of others, all we have to do is ignore
them.â
When Lucas noticed that Henry was still charging on bullheaded, disregarding everyone, Lucas
couldnât help but turn red in the face. His veins bulged on his forehead, and his lips quivered in fury. âI
have respected you and treated you as a role model since I was young. So I never expected that you
would go against your morals to do such a thing. Yet, you donât feel embarrassed about it and even
wanted to persuade us with your misconceptions!â
Henry couldnât contain the rage inside him when he heard Lucasâ accusations. He grabbed the teacup
from the table and threw it toward Lucas. The teacup hit Lucas and shattered into pieces while the
warm tea flowed down his face. Then, Henry stood up and glared at Lucas. âIt looks like you have
forgotten about the manners Iâve taught you, Lucas. Is this how you speak to your elders?â
âLucas!â Once Nancy saw that things had gotten to this point, she couldnât hold it back any longer and
ran toward him. She was heartbroken when she saw the blood seeping out from the cut on his
forehead. âYouâre bleeding. Does it hurt?â
Lucas didnât answer and kept his mouth shut as his eyes stared intently at Henry.
At this moment, Bella pushed her wheelchair forward and said softly, âPlease forgive Lucas, Grandpa.
He didnât think his words through since he lost his temper.â Then, she looked at Lucas. âLuke, hurry up
and apologize to Grandpa. Look how angry you made him.â
Despite Bella having given him an out, Lucas didnât take it. He gripped his knuckles and glared at
Henry as he spoke. âWhat Iâm saying is the truth. It is an insult for a 70-year-old man to deny his
mistake of having sex with a 20-year-old sl*t and making her pregnant.â He didnât flinch as he glared
right back into Henryâs death stare and said, âYou are an old hooligan!â
No matter where Henry was, everyone respected him. So, when he heard Lucasâ words, he blew his
top. âGet out of here! I do not have such a grandson like you!â
When Nancy heard Henryâs words, she looked at him and shrieked, âDad, he is just a kid. Why are you
holding such a grudge toward him?!â Then, she turned to Lucas and grabbed his hand to comfort him,
but Lucas swatted her hand away.
His amber eyes were filled with ire as he huffed. âFine. I donât want such a shameless Grandpa, either!
It is embarrassing!â With that, he wiped the blood off his face and stomped off.
Everyone in the room looked at each other before turning their gaze to Henry. Then, they tried to talk
him out of it.
âDad, donât you think itâs too much to cut ties off with Lucas just because of a woman from the red-light
district?â
âYou are already in your seventies. Who knows if that girl, Daisy, will do any harm to you? Maybe it is
someone elseâs child she is pregnant with!â
âMy wifeâs right, Dad. Even if it is your child, will you let her give birth to the child? Your great-grandson
is already four years old!â
The room became chaotic as everyone talked over each other in haste to persuade him. The scene
made Henryâs face turn gloomy, and he slammed the table loudly. âSilence!â he roared.
At that moment, everyone kept their mouth shut; the room turned as silent as the grave.
As the room quieted down, Henry slightly regained his composure. He poured himself a cup of tea and
took a sip. Then, he looked at Bella and asked, âWhatâs your opinion on this, Bella?â
As his words fell, everyoneâs gaze was on Bella.
She bit her lips and said slowly, âI know you arenât a pervert like the others said you are. You truly love
Miss Torres with all your heart.â
âBella!â Nancy tugged on her sleeve and said unpleasantly, âHow could you help that biââ Before she
could finish her sentence, Kevin quickly pulled her back to his side and signaled for her to keep her
hands out of this.
At this moment, Henryâs wrinkled face was already back to its gracious self. âYou know me well, Bella.
Go on, say it,â he praised.
Bella purposely avoided his expectant gaze and continued, âBut this is still a bad thing, Grandpa. It will
affect both of our families.â
Henry was displeased when he heard her words. His face turned nasty, and he slammed the teacup
down, but Bella ignored him and added, âFurthermore, I know a few things about Miss Torres; she has
a bad reputation. Grandpa, she doesnât have any no good intentions toward you since she approached
you and drugged you. I say that we let her have an abortion and pretend that this never happened!â
âThis is outrageous!â Henry slammed the table, his eyes full of disappointment toward Bella. âDaisy
never drugged me, and I will not let you guys frame her to protect my reputation. Only a lowlife would
do such a thing!â
Everyone was displeased by his words; even Bella had furrowed her eyebrows. Just as she was about
to speak, Henry cut her off. âSo what if Iâm in my seventies? I didnât cheat on anyone, nor did I break
the law. What is there to be ashamed of dating someone openly?â
A glint flashed across Bellaâs eyes, and she took a step forward. âGrandpa, youââ
âI donât want to hear another word out of you!â Henry cut her off again and stood up with a stern look.
âDaisy is now in Thatcherâs hands. If you do not bring her back by tonight, Iâll do it myself!â Then, finally,
he huffed and stormed off angrily after sweeping his irate glare over everyone present.
Bella pursed her lips as she looked at his departing figure and felt disgusted beyond measure.
The scene was a mess. Everyone felt humiliated by this May-December romance of Henryâs, but none
of them could do anything since he was still the patriarch of the Ford Family.
Nancy was impatient to get something done but couldnât think of anything. âBella, you canât help your
grandpa on this one. What if Christian is disgusted by this matter and refuses to be engaged with you?â
âBut I must go.â Bella forced a smile. If Grandpa goes and finds Christian himself, who knonovelxo.com
fast updatews how things will turn out? she thought.
Nancyâs eyes widened in disbelief. âAre you really going?â she asked.
âWhat else can I do?â Bella retorted in apparent annoyance.
â¦
After Christian left the ward, he didnât go and instead stood by the door. He pursed his lips and put a
cigarette between his lips. Before he could light it up, a nurse said, âIâm sorry, sir. No smoking is
allowed.â
âOkay.â Christian kept the lighter away and threw the cigarette into the garbage can. Then, he stood by
the window and looked at the sight. His mind was in a mess, but at the same time, it seemed as if his
mind was blankâhe was too irked to let his thoughts sink.
Ringâ¦
As the phone rang, Christian picked up the call. âWhat is it?â
âI had already booked an appointment with Dr. Walker for the checkup, butâ¦â The person on the other
side of the call said slowly, âWhen he knew that it was you who asked for his help, he refused to come
no matter what.â
