The next morning, I got ready for work, wearing a nude dress with one sleeve and carrying my leather handbag. The assistant chef immediately handed me my favorite lemongrass tea as soon as I entered the kitchen.
âThank you,â I said, drinking it. I looked up the floor and turned to the door when a familiar scent hits me.
âMorning,â Azriel greeted, they gave him dark coffee and he sat in front of me.
âYou have bags under your eyes,â he commented,
âDidnât have a good sleep?â
âNo, mostly because I spent my evening being chased in the woods, what was that?â Now that Iâm thinking about it, something was chasing me.
âI asked Wolf to scare you,â he shrugged. I gaped at him and set my mug down on the table. His eyes were fixed on me.
âYou were screaming and running,â he said, smirking at me. Yep, that was a little embarrassing.
âI think youâre hiding something and Iâll find out,â I declared. He leaned closer over the table and look me in my eyes
âGood luck with that,â
âJerico, is Lucas ready?â
âYes, my lady,â
âTell him to meet me outside in two minutes,â I said, leaving the kitchen. Azriel came too, frowning.
âAre we walking?â he asked.
âWe?â
âYes,â
I scoffed, â Iâm not walking with you again, I donât want to get accused again, and besides, I annoy you, remember,â I reminded him.
âCâmon, I didnât know you were the kind to take little clashes to heart,â he said.
âLittle disagreement? You treated me in the worst way possible after making me think we could beâ¦â I trailed on my words, not sure.
âWhat?â
âFriends,â I sighed. I turned to walk away from him but he gripped my wrist. I shook him off me and flapped my hair in his face.
âSo, I hurt your feelings?â he said amused, I didnât answer, just staring at my new Rolex watch hastily. What is taking Lucas so long?
âBut I apologized already,â
âDid I say I forgave you?â I retorted.
âYouâre going to make it hard for me,â he murmured.
âI would if I gave a damn about you but I donât so⦠Nah,â
Lucas stepped out of the house, eating a bagel. I extended my hand to carry his bag for him as always but Azriel swatted my hand away.
âDonât you know how to be a gentleman? You want your sister to carry your bag?â he said.
Lucas only emanated arrogance and sneered at him.
âWell, you carry it then,â
Azriel was baffled by him but carried the bag, we walked to school. I watched him coldly while his face was calm.
I was feeling unwell as I got to school, and it felt like I was coming down with the flu. I was in the class, checking the essays I assigned the kids when someone knocked on the door. I opened the door and a courier was standing there with a bouquet of daisies in her hands, they were so pretty.
âAre you Miss Adira Wade?â she asked
âYes,â
âFlowers for you, please sign here,â
âWho sent them?â I asked as I signed. I noticed it didnât come with a note.
âAnnoymus, maybe a secret admirer,â the young lady smiled and walked away.
âKids, Copy from book 4, and Matt, youâre in charge,â I hollered to my students. I took the flowers to my office, admiring them. Azriel entered, he was from the gym.
âAre those mine?â he asked.
âNo, they are mine,â I smiled gently, he walked over and glanced at them. â I think Wyatt sent them,â I said.
âHmm,â
âHeâs so good to me and thoughtful too,â I said.
âLucky,â he said in a mocking tone and I narrowed my gaze on him,
âWhatâs with you.â
âHe got one flower from the bunch and plug out the petals,â
âDonât do that!â I hissed, snatching it from him.
âDaisies- represent you,â
âWhat do you mean?â I asked curiously.
âTwo flowers in one,â he began with a faraway look. â They embody purity, innocence, cheerfulness, and new beginnings,â he said looking into my eyes. â Just like you,â A small rare smile graced his lips.
âIâm like daisies?â
âIn this family, yes,â My gaze dropped to the flowers.
âI should thank Wyatt, where is my phone,â I murmured, looking around but couldnât find it, I must have left it in class.
âAdira⦠there is an art exhibition in town tonight, you can come with me if you want,â he said.
âWhat kind of invitation is that?â
âDo you want to go with me to an exhibition?â he asked.
âI donât think Wyatt will like it too much,â
âYou can come with Luca or anyone⦠Donât think much into it,â
I hesitated still, and he said; â I donât like you, but It would be nice to have you there,â his voice was barely above a whisper and I gape
âIs that praise from you?â
âTake it as you like⦠Iâll send you the details,â he exited the room, leaving me alone.
Going back to class, I conclude everything and meet Monique in the staff room, she smiled and came to me.
âHave you eaten?â she asked, munching on her salad.
âAre you still on that insane diet?â I chuckled.
âYes, I need to watch my figure, I easily get fat, and you make me look like a cow next to you,â she frowned.
âYouâre perfect,â I told her. It was true, she was a really attractive woman. Hourglass shape and a pretty face and curl thick hair that suited her stunning face.
âI know, I want to be more than perfect,â
âAlright,â Arguing with her is a waste of time.
âDo you want to go somewhere in the evening?â I asked her and she stopped eating.
âWhere?â
âAt an art gallery, someone invited me,â I said.
âOn a date?â she furrowed her eyebrows.
âNo,â
âIâm not third wheeling?â
âNot at all, I already have a boyfriend, remember?â I said.
âOkay, it will be fun, I guess, â
