Noting Tylerâs lack of response, Gloria spoke up with a sneer, âVicky, youâve finally had a taste of what
itâs like to be betrayed and have something of yours stolen from you.â
Vicky turned to look at Gloria.
It had been some time since she last saw Gloria; she noticed that Gloria had lost weight and looked as
pale as a ghost.
At the moment, Gloria was glaring daggers at Vicky with resentment in her eyes, giving her a
completely different persona than her usual appearance.
Gloria chuckled darkly. âVicky, this is karma.â
Vicky clenched her fists and felt a lump in her throat.
âMaybe Gloria is right,â she thought. âMaybe I deserve this.â
Gloria walked toward Vicky with absolute composure as though she had not done anything wrong.
âVicky, to tell you the truth, Tyler thinks he owes me because he had the wrong person back then. He
said that heâd grant me a wish and now, I want him toââ
âGloria,â Tyler interrupted her.
Gloriaâs lashes fluttered, and she turned to look at Tyler.
âWhy? Are you afraid that Iâm going to tell Vicky the truth? Sheâs going to know sooner or later!â Gloria
smiled sarcastically. âVicky, why do you think Tyler married you and refused to divorce you? Did you
think that he loves you too much to let you go? If thatâs what you think, you canât be more wrong! His
true intention isââ
âGloria,â Tyler interrupted her sternly. âThatâs enough!â
Gloria shot him a half-smile. âTyler, if you donât want to say it, I donât mind being the villain here. I can
say what you canât. If you want to stop me, why donât you tell her yourself?â
The look in Tylerâs eyes darkened.
Vicky did not know what they were referring to and remained standing quietly.
Gloria did not say anything else after that, and after some time, Tyler broke the silence. âVicky, go
home.â
Vicky stared at Tyler, who kept his eyes trained on Gloria.
Vicky narrowed her eyes, and after a long pause, she turned and walked out of the room.
âTrue intention? Does Gloria know why Tyler married me?â Vicky thought.
The elevator stopped on the first floor, and Vicky walked out with her head bowed. Absorbed in her
thoughts, she ran straight into someone.
âSorry,â she blurted out.
âVicky?â
Her voice and the personâs voice rose at the same time.
Vicky looked up and found herself looking at a devilishly handsome face. She was unsurprised.
âHarvey, are you here to see Gloria?â
Harvey nodded with a resigned smile. âSelene called me saying that Gloria is in a bad state and
wouldnât eat. Sheâs caught up at work, so she told me to come here and check on Gloria.â
It was past midnight, and calling someone at such a time was rude.
