Chapter 1079
Realizing it was Tylerâs voice, Vicky instinctively looked around her. Everything was as it should be, and
there was no suspicious person to be found. However, she knew Tyler must have ordered someone to
monitor her. Otherwise, how would he know that she was with Lincoln? She and Lincoln had only been
speaking for a short while before his call came.
Vicky did not want to speak to him anymore, so she immediately hung up the phone. However, her
phone rang again after a few seconds. She checked the caller ID and realized that it was still Tyler who
was calling. Biting the bullet, she quickly blocked his number.
After a few minutes of peace and quiet, she received a call from an unknown number. Frowning, she
answered the phone.
âVicky, how dare you block my number,â said Tyler coldly.
Without waiting for him to say anything else, Vicky hung up the phone again. This time she did not
block that number but instead turned off her phone. She knew Tyler could get his hands on as many
new numbers as he wanted, so there was no point in her blocking one number after another.
Peace and quiet finally returned to her world after she turned off her phone. Lincoln quietly watched all
that transpired. It was only when she lifted her head did he ask,â Are you sure itâs okay to turn off your
phone?â
âYeah. Why wouldnât it be?â
Lincoln smiled. âI always thought you wouldnât have the heart to be so ruthless to him.â
At the mention of Tyler, Vickyâs face immediately turned sullen.
âThat might be true. Maybe thatâs why he thinks he can do whatever he wants to me,â Vicky admitted.
âWhat about now?â
Vicky looked at Lincoln. âNow?â
âDo you still feel the same way as you did last time?â
After a brief moment of silence, Vicky finally answered, âNo.â
Lincoln let the conversation go at that. Instead, he asked,â Vicky, do you believe all the things Iâve told
you just now?â
He seemed as if he really cared about what she thought of him.
âThe rumors, Old Mister Hart, and Lincoln⦠They all have their own version of the story. I donât even
know whoâs telling the truth. Itâs not like I was there when it happened, so I have no right to judge.â 1
âI⦠I donât know,â she said quietly.
Lincoln smiled haplessly. âSo, you still donât believe me.â
There was nothing wrong with Lincolnâs explanation, and yet Vicky still could not say with a hundred
percent honesty that she totally believed what he told her. However, she had to admit to herself that
she would rather believe Lincoln than Tyler. In fact, her trust in Tyler had already dropped to zero
percent.
Lincoln did not say anything to force her to believe him but instead gently said, âLet me show you
around.â
Vicky was going to turn down his offer when Lincoln added quietly, âItâs better to familiarize yourself
with the surroundings in case you wanted to escape from here one day.â
The place Old Mister Hart lived in was huge. Even if he allowed her to leave, she would not be able to
find the exit. Thinking of this, Vicky accepted Lincolnâs offer.
Lincoln showed her around the place. Ever the gentleman, he made sure to keep some distance away
from her so that she would not feel pressured or scared.
