It was a call from the police station.

“Hello? Is this Mr. Delacruz? You called the police?”

“It’s me.”

After the call ended, Gavyn’s eyes darkened.

He looked at the closed door of the emergency room.

The scene of Aylin getting injured came to his mind unwittingly. The way she looked so pale with bruises and wounds all over her body, and her thick eyelashes fluttered slightly.

He was used to seeing her being self-reliant. Seeing her so vulnerable suddenly made Gavyn’s heart clench.

He had never been so panicked before.

He didn’t even dare to think further about it. What if something bad really happens to Aylin....

The red and green lights outside the emergency room were alternating. Gavyn had a headache looking at it, so he bent his slender fingers and rubbed between his brows.

Seeing that, Lloyd hurriedly helped him up. “Mr. Delacruz, are you having a headache again? Please sit down for a while. You are also injured...”

David was like a raging lion at that moment. No one could calm him down. He pointed at Gavyn and scolded the latter angrily, “Stop pretending here. If it weren’t for him being useless, how could Boss get hurt?”

He vented all his dissatisfaction at Gavyn at that moment. “If you can’t protect her, why do you keep bothering her? You wronged her three years ago. Now that she’s by your side, you allowed her to get hurt again. What’s the use of a man like you!”

Gavyn’s eyes suddenly turned cold.

It was true that he didn’t arrive on time, but it didn’t mean that anybody could blame him for that.

He frowned, and his body was full of coldness. “This is between her and me. It’s not up to an outsider like you to interfere!”

“An outsider?”

David was so furious upon hearing that word that his eyes turned red immediately. “Who’s an outsider? I’ve known Boss for so long, and you’re only her ex-husband. You’re the outsider instead!”

With that said, he rolled up his sleeves and was about to start a fight.

“Don’t just stand there. Hurry up and call security guards!”

After Lloyd called for the nurses, he grabbed David and stopped him. “Calm down. It’s not what you think!”

He had never spoken so fast in his life. “Mr. Delacruz can’t foresee what happened. He has done his best to protect Ms. Koch as soon as he arrived. He was the one who taught those thugs a lesson in the end. How can this be his fault? If you don’t believe me, you can ask the police!”

David had a bad impression of Gavyn and did not believe Lloyd since Lloyd was working for Gavyn. He scoffed, “How could he be so kind? No good things will happen every time Boss gets close to him! You two have divorced. Why are you still pretending to be affectionate now?”

His voice was not loud but was audible for everyone to hear it. His words were firm and powerful as if they had fallen to the ground.

“Since she’s with me, she’s mine.”

David was speechless.

He gritted his teeth. Others might be afraid of Gavyn, but I’m not. Boss has suffered so much because of this man. I can’t let her suffer for nothing!

“You’re simply shameless. You don’t deserve anyone’s love. All you deserve is to die alone, jerk!”

“That’s enough!” Lloyd cried bitterly. He caught a glimpse of the nurse leading the security guards toward them and left to call for help.

“What happened?”

The tall and strong security guard with a baton looked around sternly.

Gavyn’s lips curled into a cold smirk. “Someone is deliberately causing trouble here. Take him out. Making a scene will affect the patient’s surgery.”

The security guards grabbed David, who was being held by the waist. “Sir, this is a hospital. It’s important for the patient to rest.

Please leave!”

The security guards outnumbered him.

Although David was furious, he knew that he could not cause trouble in the hospital.

He glared at Gavyn with hatred and regretted not giving him two punches. “Humph, I’ll settle the score with you when Boss wakes up!”

After saying that, he shook off the hand of the security guards and said angrily, “I can walk by myself!”
